Would be really good at our level, very good at free kicks as well I seem to remember and if we don''t get Lappin back that could be very useful.

Full story from Football365:

HAMMERS RELEASE SOLANO

Prem W/out Top 4 2008/09 Win Outright: West Ham 16/1

Nolberto Solano is looking for another club after being released by West Ham.

The former Newcastle and Aston Villa winger joined the Hammers

last August, but after only one season at the club is surplus to

requirements.

There had been rumours the Peruvian ace would head north for a

third spell with Newcastle, but Solano insists that is not a feasible

option.

He left St James'' Park for family reasons and, despite

admitting he hopes to remain in England, insists that situation has not

changed.

"I am looking for another club," he said.

"I hope to stay in England for another two years and after that, I will return to Peru.

"Everybody knows what I feel about Newcastle and those fans, but it would be difficult me to ever return there.

"The reason I was forced to leave Newcastle was because of family reasons, and that situation has not changed.

"But one day, I might be back at Newcastle as manager."

Solano became a Geordie hero during his time on Tyneside and admits that the club holds a special place in his heart.

"I don''t really know Kevin Keegan, but when I saw him in action

at Upton Park at the end of the season, I was very impressed with him,"

added the playmaker.

"If there is one man who can turn things around at St James'' Park, then that man is Kevin Keegan.

"No matter where I am in the world, I will be hoping and praying that he does."

Solano has spent the last decade plying his trade in the Premier

League, with his trickery, vision and keen eye for goal marking him out

as of the finest imports to grace the English top flight.

What a great player. I''d love to see him here. Maybe a little too old for the Premier League, but a great signing for us. Look what the quality oldies did for Hull.

Its a possibility you never know? Would be a very good player IMO if it did happen, certainly a good option on the wing.

I wouldnt call him a has been, been playing in the premiership and so could easily make the step down.  Remember the Dublin lesson, just because they are old does not mean they are past it or not worth looking at.

Do you actually know anything about football?  Solano would be absolute quality, he is a playmaker too so exactly the type we are looking for...

He would be a tremendous signing - but after reading the interview with him it seems clear he wants to remain in London. Unfortunatly, we stand no chance.

None of the promoted teams are near romford in the slightest, i think that one could really happen! he''s got another year on him now, but would certainly be good in the championship. Where would he play tho, we seem to be alright for wingers as opposed to other areas, so sort them out first.

I''ve been looking for any recent developments on Nobby''s next move...couldn''t find anything though...anyone think that he might come into the reckoning?

This move seems to me to have a lot going for it:

Good former links with Roeder...Roeder extended his contract at Newcastle

Doesn''t apparently want to leave the country, although has said he wanted to stay in London, ...but Norwich is no distance away at all, and my guess he would be living somewhere north east of London anyway

33 years of age and can expect to be more realistic with his salary, focussing more on quality of living.

Plays a position we currently need

Excellent in terms of experience, to help fill the Dion void...and his presence in the side would make Norwich a more attractive prospect for big clubs to loan their promising youngsters to.

He would definitely be a welcome addition, bringing a bit of extra class to the party. Watch this space I guess.....

even though they had wage cuts he would have been on 20k or more. ljunberg is old and he was getting paid somthing like 80k a week.

player wise it would be an amazing buy.

I think Solano lives in the Cobham area  (SW London) and socialises with his Chelsea mate Pizzaro, hence his probable wish to remain in London.

Also he may not be all the role model that GR would  want at the club, if newspaper articles are to be believed http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4161/is_20060305/ai_n16189269

but then we''ve had our own share of youngsters living in the fast lane with negative consequences.

As said earlier, would be a positive influence on the pitch, but methinks an unlikely candidate for NCFC, even if the money was not an obstacle.

Agree that Salano would probably make a great signing, have always thought that he was a good little player.

As you say though if he wants to stay in London, my money would be on him ending up at either QPR or Fulham.
