Hartsons Gut 0 Posted September 13, 2006 I dont see the harm in getting Sutton in on a pay as you play. What could go wrong? We pay him for a couple of weeks, realise that he cant do the job and get rid of him, or find out that he is a brilliant championship player who you have paid no transfer fee for. Worthington cant find anyone. Two that dont have a club, Sutton and Ferguson. I think that a protest should be arranged to try and get Sutton in. What do you think? blahblahblah 2 Posted September 13, 2006 I think you need your head read. Here''s why :39 days into the Championship season, and Sutton still doesnt have a club. Ipswich, Aston Villa, even his former employers Birmingham have all declined to persue their interest. He is too old and unfit to justify a place in our team. His wage at Celtic was over 200% of the cost of our first team wages. The suggestion that he would be paid only to play is fiction. Wages would still have to be set aside in case he plays, so money that could be used on younger, fitter, faster loanees would be wasted on the possibility that this prima-donna show pony could be bothered to get off his sofa to turn up for a game. Not to mention that while on NCFC premises, he would need to be covered under the clubs'' insurance, etc. Nobody gets paid just to play.
Saint Canary 0 Posted September 13, 2006 Any else think that Fox looked good in the charity game a couple of weeks back?"Bring back Foxy!, Bring back Foxy!"In fact I am starting a petition to bring back the full starting 11 from the side that went to Munich. Come on Doncaster get on the phone to Southend to enquire about Prior (hmm it ryhmes) or there will be protests!
Two Tails 0 Posted September 13, 2006 I think that the purchase of players has nothing to do with us. There has to be a decent reason why he is without a club at the moment.

Admittedly he is injured & at his age recovery takes a little while but he was in the Southend line up at the start of the season &, in partnership with Adam Barrett, was doing a fine job so if we wanted some central defensive cover/competition, maybe it wouldn''t have been such a bad idea
Citizen Journalist Foghorn 0 Posted September 15, 2006 Ole Solskier scored a good winner the other day against Celtic - I guess Man United are happy they signed him up pay as you play at his age... As for Sutton, well he won''t be here full; stop, lets hope when he recovers from his injury he is a total flop for that awful ipswich side 2 points below us despite our awesome start!! lolbtw who is our second choice striker?? I''m sure they''re all keen to get that spot, but I suspect Jarvis or McVeigh would get the nod.
Rudolph Hucker 0 Posted September 15, 2006 Does anyone remember the Clint Eastwood film: Any Which Way But Loose?Do you recall the trumpety refrain which played whenever the film returned to ''The Black Widows? If this thread could have a tune, that would be it. Herb 0 Posted September 15, 2006 One thing I don''t get about this Sutton saga. If, as the assorted "I play cricket with Chris'' brothers cousins nephews ex-missus" brigade would have us believe, Chris Sutton is keen to continue his football career, why is he not turning out for, or at least training with a local non-league side? ZLF 334 Posted September 15, 2006 Would that be because of the groin injury herb?

I''m sure they''re all keen to get that spot, but I suspect Jarvis or McVeigh would get the nod."That fills me with great confidence, I guess we would have to take 2 of ''em and change to a 4-4-2. Canary 1 Posted September 16, 2006 Are you being serious as Sutton is a yesterday man, we need to get in younger players who are not just about to collect their bus pass.We have stated this with Croft and Boyle on Loan. Please take a reallity check as to Sutton as a player now, not living with what he has done in the past.
