The Last Month at NCFC...

Recommended Posts

Well, it''s now been around a month since my last post (I have attempted to give it up for the summer), but there are a few things that I must say for my own sanity!

 1. A certain Mr. Worthington said that there''d be no transfer action before the World Cup. Strange that, given that Moriniho want his transfer activities done before the world cup. And also, the 100 million transfers that have happened since the last day at Wolves.
 2. The imminate departure of Thorne and Etuhu.Thorne was ''too expensive'' for Notts County. That 50p is after all better spent in the cafe in my view. Etuhu would set the owls bac around 600k according to their boss. That means the chances are we''ve given them an acceptable price. Is Nigel finally admitting through these possible deals that his signings are complete and utter poo? Some people reckon that Dickson could be a really good player for us. I seem to remember people saying the same thing about Simon Charlton!
 3. Green. Best wishes to him. I can''t imagine what it felt like in that ambulance for him, so close to Germany. Whether or not we feel he deserved his place there is in material now.
 4. Clive Clarke. Yay, another utility player! Obviously I''m being sarcastic. Nigel, this why we are rubbish, you buy these kind of players!
 5. Next seasons odds. We are apparently due for a high mid-table finish. From odds on for promotion to boring mid-tablers! Could this work for us? No expectation from the media, fans, or board? Who knows? What I do know is that I''m still a Worthy Outer, and given the first month or so of the summer, I can only see more people chanting Worthy Out next term!

Surely numbers one and two contradict each other.

1 - "A certain Mr. Worthington said that there''d be no transfer action before the World Cup"

2 - "The imminate departure of Thorne and Etuhu"

Squit, Can you make the next one worthwhile? perhaps something nice and constructive other than bashing everyone that dosn''t agree with you.
1. I don''t think we want to rush the transfers but at the same time we should certainly be working hard at finding the right transfers.2. I disagree with Etuhu, he has shown real promise in recent games and I think we should keep him. Thorne didn''t look up to the job at all, but I wonder if he had a real chance to prove himself.3. Green, it is terrible what has happened and my sympathy is with him. That aside he personally hasn''t been with the team for the last year now and he would have probably left us this summer, a money boost we could have done with. This injury is a blow for both green and the club, I wish him a speedy recovery.4. As I''ve said before, I won''t judge til I''ve seen him play for us I think its unfair to write a player off even before he''s played, I have my doubts over him though5. We won the league with very similar odds I seem to remember, I''d really like to win the play offs though, like winning a cup game and promotion rolled into one

I humbly apologise, I forgot you lot like to go over the same old rubbish over and over again.

I can''t believe you''re all falling into the ''rumour as fact'' world that CJF lives in.

Not neccessarily. Bringing players in is different to getting players out, after all, players are often released very soon after the start of the transfer window.
I think Squit sums up the KTFers quite well.  With no reasoned arguments and just insults.  Not long to go now however before this offensive man is dumped from our club.
A fine one to talk arnt we CJF?To be honest I do find this post rather old news in the sense that all of these points have been discussed an debated already. And if Squits comment is typical of KTFers then the original post is typical of the WOers.Like the guy out of dads army who always says "We''re doomed!" - the outcome always has to be so neggative. You talk as if we are a team struggling for championship survival when that is simply not true no matter how hard you want to argue it.As for no transfer activity what the hell do you call Jarrett? Or rumoured links to Clarke who by the way is NOT a utility player in the same sense that Hughes is. He effectively is a utility player in the same way that Nedergaard was in that he can play down one flank. If you want to try and milk that for all its worth then go ahead but to me its pointless. We need back up down the left and this guy could be the answer but no - he can play left wing or left back why would we want someone as flexible as that?Who needs a left foot these days?

I wondered who''s been peering through my bedroom window.

If you want reality your definately in the wrong place and (as you''d know) when you''re as gorgeous as me a long look in the mirror is compulsory.

Actually I never started saying we''re doomed until December last year, and to be honest I havent been wrong.  We have been rubbish and failed to get anywhere near the play-offs.   Now as you mentioned in a prebious post much rebuilding needs doing this summer and if Worthy buys like last summer we are stuffed.

Hand on heart who thinks we are going up next season.

The players we have added to the players we are linked with, it aint lookin good. First player we are linked with is a reserve left back. Oh dear. Midfield, Midfield, how many times were we overun in the middle of the park. It aint looking good. I''m with CJF and strongly predict another season of no show and humiliation.

Not a hope in hell.

On a player for player basis we are weaker than we were when we won the championship, the squad has less depth, and the standard of the opposition next season will be far superior.

Our only hope is to get a settled team bedded in early, for the crowd to stay off their backs (which is hardly likely considereing how fragile the relationship is at present), to avoid injuries to the crucial players and for Mr. Worthington to ditch his obsession with ''Jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none'' panic signings in the close season.

Do that and we might finish in the top ten, but we are, in my opinion, six quality players away from a serious challenge next season.

The quality players added would certainly all have to play in the team to get us promotion. Our squad as you all say is weak, with no real pressure on anyone to perform,8 players are needed.Right back ,centre back, left midfield who could also play left back, centre mid field, right winger(right midfild),2 strikers, and 1 keeper now as green is injured.Outs,Thorne, Hughes,Colin,Etuhtu and possibly Fleming as he is not up to the captains job and is begining to struggle at this level.Cost 5 million +Possible rewards, promotion and in excess of 40 million + Will our board be that brave?I see Jason Roberts is subject to a 1.25 million bid from Turkey.A target for Worthless?

I don''t think we need as many players as people think. The basis of a good squad is still there and if added to with two or three quality players then i think we can challenge. I think the areas required that MUST be strengthened with quality are right back, right wing and a target man centre forward. If the right players come along we could also do with a new centre back and cover for Drury at left back and obviously if Gallagher deos not sign his contract we will need another keeper. No need for 8 new first choice players but we must focus on the areas of particular weakness and get the right players early and integrate them into the team before the start of the new season so we have a settled side.
