Q. Who said this, in January 2005?

Player to watch in  2005: "Francesc Fabregas at Arsenal, he''s going to be some player when he gets a bit more experience under his belt."

A.  Nigel Worthington

B) player signed for 550,000 for Norwich city and played in every game when fit...  Andy Hughes.

What is your point Megson??  ETuhu, Jarrett, Hughes Robinson??

So worthy noted a player Arsenal pinched from Barcelona previously before he signed proffesional terms is ''one to watch''

I will give you one to watch buddy:  ''Theo Walcott''  hurrah, and I will sign Patrik Agemang  for 550,000, hurrah I spotted an obvious blinder and signed a failing championship player.

Well, he was right there. How he never got Young Player of the season I''ll never know. To boss midfields away in Europe at his age is an absolutely sensational achievement, bodes well for us bringing on young Theo in the World Cup as hopefully Mr. Wenger will have given him the same sort of mindset.

I don''t know but I would argue the point he is making is that Cesc Fabregas has proved himself to be a world class footballer without "a bit more experience under his belt" which is Worthy speak for "another season in the reserves"

Brilliant and thank God for that!! Now the secret of why our board keeps the faith with Worthy. He has also clearly demonstrated this gift of ability spotting with his signings.

Thanks for this I can now see through the inept tactics etc etc. I bet Arsene was glad Worthy mentioned it too.

Not exactly that impressive considering six months before that he had destroyed Man Utd''s midfield in the Charity Shield and played very well in a few Prem matches up to that point.

I''m fairly sure that I used the word ''this'' in January 2005, and if my memory serves me correctly I did it on a number of occasions... I must however admit to two things:

1. I didn''t keep a count of the occasions, or the situations in which I found myself using the word ''this'' so you''ll have to take my word for it...

and 2. I fear I may not have been the only person to have done so, so cannot take the overall prize for saying the word: ''this'' over the period of January 2005 (an accolade I am sorely disappointed to have missed out on, along with a pay increase at work - January was a harsh month for missing out on cool things..!?)

So can we now let this drop, as it still pains me, even now in May..?

You do realise if he was a Norwich player Wothington would have given him about 4 sub appearances

probably at right back, criticised him for some arbitrary reason and let him leave on a free saying that to get out of the championship you need to earn the right to play.

He is a youngster and would have been given away at Norwich and Worthington would have bought Morrow instead because he scored that goal.

fair play Gary, Joe Royle is an ex canary however.  And not an Andy Marshall type - he may have attained that stature if he had got the scum promoted however - but he didn''t [:D].

[/quote] I started this pointless thread five days ago to take people''s minds off Ipsquit.  Who''d have thought it would still have legs? Amazing. Must try it again sometime.
