dylanisabaddog 6,196 Posted September 27, 2024 (edited) 12.30 kick off again! Another game against a Paul Warne team. Good to see him still working and fingers crossed he doesn't get relegated again. Hopefully for him he won't run on the pitch to celebrate when we score. Derby fans are confident https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/43419-v-norwich-city-h-predictions/page/3/#comments Look out for Kayden Jackson. He only managed 24 goals in 170 games for Ipswich but has 2 in 6 for Derby this season. I think FRGS stands for first Rams goal scorer. A guide to Pride Park https://www.awaygames.co.uk/away-day-guides/derby-county-away/ Derby are currently looking for new investment in a push for the Premier League. You would think they'd want to avoid it after their last experience. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.derbytelegraph.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/derby-county-investment-paul-warne-9583472.amp?espv=1 Favourite Derby moment The Savage substitution and what happened afterwards Press conference courtesy of Satriales and see post below by Ron for a video Edited September 27, 2024 by dylanisabaddog
TheGunnShow 7,470 Posted September 27, 2024 That fan stacking it out of the stand is definitely the funniest moment of celebration I can remember. Not to mention THAT commentary when the ball squirmed in! 3

It's quite a good weekend for football. Looking forward to a victory at Derby followed by Mulbarton v Ely. Then on Sunday with a late Buendia winner at Portman Road. Followed by Man Utd v Spurs in which by a miracle I'd like to see both lose. May give that a miss...

I suspect that Warne will tell them to set off at top speed and go for an early goal. But I'm more confident of our back 4 than at any time in the last few years.

You couldn’t get a Birmingham ticket in League 1 but you could for Wolves in the Premier??
Pyro Pete 2,395 Posted September 27, 2024 Can I politely request we have four asterisks either side of the thread title? Thanks, dylan. 3
TheGunnShow 7,470 Posted September 27, 2024 Will be a tough game at their place and Warne will surely have his team up for a scrap. Not sure we'll get all three points here but a draw would do nicely. Think we'll get it as well. Suspect a 1-1 draw.

I was thinking more what that says about supporters in the lower leagues and the supposed “Premier” League. The word armchair comes to mind.

So far we've won 2, drawn 2 and lost 2. On paper you would kind of hope/expect for 3 pts, but you never know with us away. Would be good to get 3 pts ahead of the Dirty Leeds and Sarge on the scoresheet. Wouldn't be surprised if our next 3 games are D, L, W.

Yep, we are going into a company season ticket to Wolves. Despite what a certain poster will tell you about Birmingham only sold out v us as they did cheap tickets, they are selling out every game. You could get Villa Champions League tickets easy enough if you wanted to pay £97 a pop.

We looked good at Watford, but it's still a young, embryonic team so anyone expecting the team to build on from Watford might get a veritable slap in the face. I expect we'll be inconsistent, but by definition guessing when the team is going to play well below its capabilities is a veritable lottery. A fired-up Warne side on their home turf that's started reasonably well as a promoted side is definitely going to cause problems. Oxford certainly did.

Yes you're making sense, but we suddenly have a back 3 or back 4 that can deal with most of what will be thrown at it at this level. It's been a long time since we've been able to say that. Doyle in particular looks an inspired signing and I definitely don't see him having dips in form. The young and fragile players are generally in forward positions. I feared the worst at the start of the season but it really has been turned round. Our weakest positions last year are now the strongest.

Our weakest positions last year are now the strongest. That back four had three 20 year olds in it, Doyle's got 100 league appearances in his locker which is good going for a 20-year old defender but both Fisher and Chrisene really are just starting out at this level in the grand scheme of things. Gunn's not in his best form by any means and that leaves everyone's second favourite scapegoat in Duffy to provide experience. That said, Doyle and Chrisene look more physically imposing than what we had before (although McCallum was pretty aggressive, just not very quick) and Fisher's got tigerish tendencies despite looking like he needs some prolonged time on squats and deadlifts. I just don't think a back line with three 20 year olds in it is going to be that consistent at this level yet.

Hanley and Gibson hardly filled many with confidence as a unit.
LaUnionCanary 150 Posted September 28, 2024 Only two of those 20 year olds were on the pitch at any one time, Fisher started and Chrisense came on as a sub. The one not mentioned by you is Cordoba, a marked improvement on last season. Same back line today I suspect.
JonnyJonnyRowe 1,041 Posted September 28, 2024 Tough game this, Derby have had a good start and won all three of their home games. We, of course, have lost 2 of our 3 away games. Draw wouldn't be a disaster.

Oxford should act as a warning about what fired up promoted teams on their home turf can do.
