New contract for Kellen Fisher!

Great player but he looks about 12 and that scares me.

Have Policemen started to look like kids in uniforms yet? thats a milestone moment in life when it happens.*

Funny to think that at some point, an old man looked at Tillo in his fresh uniform, smiled and thought to himself ' they're expecting kids to be Coppers now?'

Good to get Kellens contract sorted, promising young fella.

*mine happened twenty or so years ago, i was sat in a car , no motor tax disc, (car had been exported from uk but irish reg and tax not yet arrived)in a village highstreet in Norfolk with the wife, young bobby comes along ,notices lack of disc, wife stops eating the scone she was devouring and plonks half of it into the windscreen where tax disc should have been. He was unsure how to respond , but as we were both laughing and friendly the situation was resolved soon enough and amicably. He did say it was a first for him though. Fair play to him though as he pointed to the smear left by the scone and said as a parting shot...'i'd get that butter changed before its out of date'.

I'd suggest the new contract is more about the salary increase he is going to enjoy rather than the extra year (he was already contracted to 2027)!

So far he seems to be earning whatever they pay him.

A fair suggestion. As we signed him from a non-league club to play initially for our academy side, his progress has clearly dictated that we want to tie him down to a longer contract and reward him with a salary commensurate with that progress. That's clearly a positive thing for all parties – and I'm not suggesting you disagree!

I'll feel a lot more comfortable once Angus has signed on the dotted line, though. We've got 16 players out of contract next summer (not factoring in club extension opportunities), and Gunn is the only one I'd be really gutted to lose.

Yep agree with all that. Gunn alone is also my only concern over the contracts running out at the end of the season.

Of the youngsters out of contract, Warner and Djedje are the ones that I think might make the grade. We've got a surfeit of young CBs, though, so we'll see whether Warner is one they want to back. Djedje looks very promising from the little I've seen, so it'd be good to see him tied down to a longer-term deal.

Think Djedje needs some concentrated focus on athleticism and power. He has promise but is still quite lumber-some and often looks like his boots are too heavy.

Regrettably I couldn't make either of the U21 fixtures at CR this week, but I'm hoping to get down to one or two soon so I can see the youngsters in the flesh.

Just wait until you learn he was born in 2004. What were you doing in 2004?

I was 16 so drinking in the dodgy pub in Bungay that never asked for ID.

I've not seen him a tonne live myself, though what I have seen has been consistent. Decent on the ball and physically imposing, just a bit leaden-footed which might be an issue in our midfield in the current guise.

Warner, incidentally, across the 90 against Sparta probably looked the closest to a JHT defender out there. Lots of brave reverse passes through the press, with pace to boot. Makes Tomkinson still being with us even more of a mystery.

With Chris Martin, judging by the location and chronology? 😉

I was impressed by young Fisher on Saturday, he showed tenacity and grit and looked like an upper Championship player....

Chris Martin was Beccles not Bungay! I was at school with Joe Lewis but Martin was at John Lehman.

I thought he frequented most of the pubs in that neck of the woods, until he got banned from them...? 😉

If he did I never ran into him. He got banned from everywhere due to the pubwatch scheme, which meant if you were enough of a menace all the pubs in the region banned you. I worked in a hotel while I was in 6th form and his picture was in the folder behind the bar of people not to serve, not that he ever showed up in Southwold.

Haha yep, among my circle of friends Chris Martin was always nicknamed 'Pubwatch' when he played for us 😉

That's narrowed it down to about 15 pubs😂 When I was around 16 (1975) it was mainly The Fleece, The Chequers and the one in Earsham St that had a disco upstairs on a Saturday night.

He was a regular in the LCR around that time as well, I had a couple of drunken conversations with him in there.

When I was a teenager Swanson's was the go to for underage drinking. Once we got a bit closer to legality then the Green Dragon and Kings Head became the best options. The Fleece was the one known to be the toughest on ID's!

I haven't been back to Bungay in years so Swanson's is new to me. Is the King's Head the one in Earsham St?

The Fleece used to have a reputation for drug taking/supplying. The Chequers was always the friendliest and most entertaining, especially on a Friday night when the late shift finished at Clays.
