Our club now has an all new typeface/font..

Maybe the yellow border IS the official crest?!  I'm seeing it being updated on third party sites now:

The original unveiling was of course on a yellow background so perhaps it was never clear that a border existed.

Consistency...?!

I was of the understanding that there is no border on the official logo... not sure why it has started appearing now!

the (50 year old) badge was designed in a competition by somebody who moaned that it didn't earn him any money.

I don't think that was the complaint he made.

I think his complaint was effectively that the Club could have shown him more respect when his 50 year old design was essentially being retained and when they are now doubtless paying relatively huge sums of money to commercial organisations for modest modifications.

Seems a fair observation to me.

Just correcting what I believe to be a somewhat biased interpretation of what was actually communicated by the original badge designer.

Anyone is welcome to an opinion but should try hard to avoid misinterpreting others opinions.

Honestly the yellow boarder looks great and I hope it is a part of the badge from now on.. And looking at the new merchandise well look at the green mug on bottom left. There it is!

I don't disagree with you buddy, I think it looks good... and you can also see it in the top left of the club's homepage. Maybe the default version is with no border, but the border can be used if it helps with clarity against the background.

I hope they mix it up, sometimes a border, sometimes no border.

Imagine the excitement, every time the clubs publicises something we could have a few dozen threads speculating whether there's going to be a border.

Followed by a thread from Essex claiming some financial wrongdoings about the border.

Another Webber master stroke.

And a thread from Keith Scott about how it's the wrong border and a richer owner would've chosen the other one.

I'm totally with Cambridge - unless Specsavers are to become NCFC's No.1 sponsor, what on earth is that font all about? It's horrible - disjointed & hard to read. The polar opposite of what it's supposed to achieve.

Yes, NCFC may have copyright for it, however it's unlikely anyone else would want to use it anyway!

Some of those mugs look nice. Presumably the mainly white one I thought was dull is actually a tribute to Pukki and Finland.

Are they meant to represent some of the fan groups abroad? We don't have an Aussie player and the last one we had would've dropped the mug. 😀

Font only refers to the name of the font, while typeface is more related to the styling 🤓

Ha! Possibly a combination of players and supporters' groups. But where marketing is concerned best not to overthink it and believe there might be a rational explanation for a plethora of products...

He got paid with a decent lesson on not selling yourself too cheaply and agreeing a decent contract, which no doubt would have served him well in his future careers as first an architect and then an artist.

I've licensed a few photographs. If editorial usually 5 years, if a book they have to pay me for each new edition they print (and use the photo in), so value of the photo is linked to the success of the product over the long term.

Also, £10 in 1971 might have been only £100 in 2021 based on the Bank of England inflation calculator, but a pint of Whitbreads was only 16p, so that's 625 pints of beer. A pint of beer today costs, what, £4 as standard today, so 625 pints would set you  back £2500. A pack of cigarettes was only 27p, so that's 370 packets of fags. A packet of cigarettes costs at least a tenner now, so that's £3700+.

If he did what all sensible young men would have done and spent it having a good time out on the razz in the city, then he's potentially got an excellent deal considering that absolutely shocking attempt at drawing a lion.

Would a court take a different view? Take the case for the contributions to the Pink Floyd's 'Great Gig in the Sky' for example.

Leaving aside the financial considerations, why not a place in the Hall of Fame?

I'll have to get my fix of Dauphin when driving through Wendover from now on (assuming no DPD van in the way).

A place in the Hall of Fame for just designed a badge?

We stopped putting people in that a decade ago anyway.

He did well for himself, he's not destitute. Apology letter for poor communication, invite him to a game in the Director's box and a meal with Delia for 120th year celebrations, good old pat on the back and "well done, 50 years is a good old innings for a logo", and he can get on with enjoying his retirement.

She could invite Stephen Naismith too to acknowledge his quality contract negotiation skills.
