Just shut up!

Recommended Posts

I’m sick of hearing players talk about how they need to be better and performances not good enough. Just shut up and do your jobs. Giving more effort to close down players and getting in tackles, moving forward quickly etc are basics and there are no excuses for the lack of them.

Only possible Crafty if the players are up to the job and unfortunately we have some who are not in the PL.

That is clear Tilly but that doesn’t excuse the lack of effort we so often witness.

Exactly!

Just watched the (brief) 'highlights' on MOTD and it was just as awful as seeing it at first hand 24 hours ago. Although Kabak should have found Row Z or at least hooked it downfield for the first, Air Rons was culpable as he was totally asleep when Kabak tried to pass to him. The 'attempt' (being polite) by Williams to close down Saka was limp and pathetic. Ditto for the lads second.

However, for me, and which confirms your opinion, is the build up to the Lacazette miss on 27 mins. Partey picks up the ball in the middle in acres of space and literally ambles forward in the most casual manner you'll ever see. FOUR Norwich players are within two or three yards (Pukki, Gilmour, McClean and finally Palcheta). None attempts to close the guy down, all just trot pathetically along just watching him before deciding to give up completely. If it was the 95th minute and we were 5-0 down then you could just about accept it but this was the 27th minute and we were only 1-0 down! It was contemptible and shameful.

Watch Sargent give up for Tierney's goal.

As you say, with the first goal, maybe Kabak should have blasted but that isn't his game. He passes toward Max who stands and waits for it and its lost.

First rule I was taught was come to meet the ball.

I think it’s partly that Til, but also partly they are underperforming. They should be better than they are, maybe still not good enough but not as bad as they were on Boxing Day. They proved that they can perform against Man United.

I wrote this elsewhere but I feel like I can't stress this point enough...

For me the most telling moment was when we missed a glorious goal scoring chance in the first half because Dowell just couldn't care less. Placheta and Pukki linked up on the left in the first half for a neat and quick counter attack. Dowell was in the middle of the park several yards ahead of Xhaka, who is not known for his speed or pace.

Yet somehow Xhaka was able to run past the dejected Dowell in no time.

He'd have been in a wonderful goal scoring position had he only made an effort and ran for it! You could tell that even Xhaka seemed surprised at his disengagement, looking back at the idly jogging Dowell. No heart. No effort. Unforgivable as this was early in the game.

Sell Dowell to Ipswich, Yeovil or whoever would want him ASAP. He looks completely forlorn and clearly can't be bothered. Put Cantwell on for God's sake, at least he will run in those situations. More importantly he gives the impression of someone who's desperate to play!

I didn't see that  and agree Dowell had a shocker (like the rest). I'm sure the reason he wasn't a regular under Farke was his lack of energy and what seems like a casual attitude. That said, in the appearances from the bench in Smith's first few games he looked totally different. He showed energy, workrate, tackles even were going in and (like the rest) looked like a player reborn. It's totally baffling how the whole team have just collapsed over the last two games.

But they probably know they are safe until May. Webber has said there is no more money except for an emergency, so the players can do what they like. We have no back up like the big squads have apart from being able to churn out several full backs.

Or else why was Sorenson dropped. Because some are untouchable. Kenny must have Elliot Ness on his shirt.

Krul

Aarons

Hanley

Omidalibale

Giannoulus

Rupp

Normann

Cantwell

Tzolis

Rashica

Pukki

That would be my first 11. Some of these were fit enough to make the bench but only just.

Take 8 or 9 players out of any team in the Premier League and see how they perform. Any criticism at the moment is ridiculous

Dispose of our best player, fail to secure a replacement for Skipp in a timely manner and have insufficient resources to pay the salaries of PL quality players necessarily implies a 20th place finish (again). Only new equity will break our cycle of failure.
