January conundrum

Recommended Posts

This January will the board stick or twist?

Stick and they essentially accept relegation and start looking to a promotion again from the champs.

twist and they try and sign another strong CDM and a striker to give us a chance of staying up. We are not that far adrift

of course they might sell a star to fund a change - but that arguably takes us backwards. And whilst Todd is the obvious one to shift - can’t see anyone wanting him on this seasons showing

what would you do? What do you think the board will do? It’s a fascinating window given we are now almost in touch

Not sure we have the quality for another promotion and really until we get different owners what’s the point it’s just embarrassing .

Depends if we are still in contention. If we are then it makes no sense to have binned Farke only not to support Smith.

Need to offload Idah and Sargent, possibly trade Max.

Our forward line causes huge concern. The worst in this league by a considerable margin.

We don't have the money for new players so it's sales and loans out.

The words of Webber.

You say this quite often, and with conviction. But i don't ever recall seeing Webber say 'we have no money in January'.

Chances are I probably missed it to be fair, but where are you getting this from?

If we go down this time there will be more of an exodus

Who? And who to? No one is stupid enough to pay good money for the dross we have........ well apart from Webber that is.

Well he said something very similar at the AGM so don't expect too much. Did we ever ?

Well our best player this season won't be here..Normann won't play in the championship.

While we are still in contention for fourth from bottom, you would expect money to be spent on more goalscoring options.

If we were cut adrift, maybe not.

Hard to see anyone of quality we could afford though.

"We don't have the money"......"Well, unfortunately not for recruitment".....

Sell Toddy, he's not going to sign a new deal so sell him with 18 months left on his contract instead of 12.

Get Idah and Sorensen out on loan ready for next season.

Cancel Gilmours loan, and get a loan DM.

Not sure we'd get much for Cantwell now to be honest. Max too must be devaluing by the week. I'm not sure what big saleable assets we have left in all honesty.

Cantwell, Aarons and Rashica will all go in the summer anyway.

We need too many players to make a difference this season. It might not be the most attractive option but it might be smarter to keep our powder dry, keep a bit in the tank and rebuild next year.

This season we would need  a defensive midfielder in the Tettey mold, another Rashica type player on the right, a striker with pace and the technique to beat a man create his own chances and a replacement right back if it's Aarons we sell. Then we would need all 3/4 players to settle in immediately and not get injured for the rest of the season. That's a big, big ask in January and even then it would only give us a better chance of surviving, it wouldn't cure all of our problems.
