  1. Spot on. Never was convinced that Paul was the Walrus though 😊
  2. Oh but they've got all those injuries and the wind was in the wrong direction last night and they're still not allowed to spy zzzzzzzzzzzz
  3. Nah, Leeds are beating the rush and falling apart ahead of schedule.
  4. Doesn't help me, I just got the Now TV cheapo sport deal to brighten up lockdown. Great value - but red button matches not available as part of the deal 🤣 Should have added that bit of Now deal seems to depend on your device - I watching it on a laptop, not sure if it's available viewing in other ways. Technology eh!
  5. On Sky Sport site it says: All matches for midweek Championship rounds will be shown live on the Sky Sports Football Red Button this season. Monday 2 November 2020 15:08, UK
  6. Had a quick look at Sky’s picks for their feature matches – Bristol City and Reading are both on four times, Cardiff, QPR, Forest, Barnsley and Bournemouth are on three times up to December 9. In total 19 clubs have screenings – we’re not one of them. Maybe they reckon we’ve got enough money already, but the way things are shaping up maybe we’ll be their fairy tale club again and it’ll feel like it’s Norwich TV not Sky TV on the run-in as it was for us last time in the Chump.
  7. Thanks for the link, knew it was good, but in the moment (jumping around the room, spilling beer etc), hadn’t realised just how good. The self belief is just breathtaking and as with the rest of the game puts the long-ball dimension into perspective. Of course it can’t work every time but the mix between short and long game was brilliant yesterday and very, very difficult to play against.
  8. Very sad. A 100% player, other centre forwards may have scored more but modern stats would have shown his team value.
  9. Cheers ZLF. As it happens I was wrong about World rankings. Chile are actually 17th, meaning caps in 45% of competitive matches would be the qualifying yardstick. USA are 22nd, the qualifying percentage being unchanged at 60%. You know what? I'd much rather be going to football instead of having time for all this guff. TV watching is not the same, but even so, what was I thinking doing that on a Sunday lunchtime? 😂
  10. Wound Geordie mates up at the time by suggesting they bought the wrong Murphy (not true of course, they're both good lads) and guiltily hated it when it went wrong for Jacob. So absolutely delighted for him today and hope Brucie now gives him a run in the team.
  11. Not claiming any expertise, but stuck in the house this lunchtime, I did a bit of reading around the subject of football work permits. I’m sure there’s plenty of stuff in the small print which I’ve missed or just glazed over at, but would like to share what I understand is the state of play with Seb Soto. Apologies to all, not least club and player, if I’ve got this all wrong or have missed out essential information, or even if this ground has all been properly covered elsewhere. If anyone wants to put me straight that would be welcome. Mr Soto didn’t accept Chile’s call-up last month but is reported to be still weighing up between Chile or the USA who he has represented in the age groups and whose head coach Gregg Berhalter wants to keep him on board. USA play Wales in a Swansea friendly on November 12 so you wonder if that may be a key date from our point of view as time plays a big part if we are to see him in yellow and green next season. He turns 21 next July 28 after which time, or whenever the season qualifying date falls, he will need to have played a percentage of competitive internationals in the previous two years to apply for a work permit, instead of the one year as is the case if aged under 21. Whichever, that percentage is on a sliding scale according to FIFA world rankings, for Chile, ranked 9th, it would be 30% of competitive matches, for the USA, ranked 25th, it would be 60%. Sounds a lot, but 60% of say eight internationals, is five caps. USA face Honduras at a centralised US location in June 2021, with the winners playing Mexico or Costa Rica in the Concacaf Nations League semis and final, postponed through Covid from June this year. That timing makes space in the calendar for Concacaf Nations World Cup 2022 Qualifiers to begin in March 2021 – suspect the format for that will be subject to the same pressures to shorten it for virus reasons as other competitions have been this year. So it is possible that only a handful of caps might suffice for a permit application on grounds of being internationally established at the highest level, with any minimum number requirement possibly being flexible in these extraordinary times. So apart from any other work permit requirements the caps criteria would seem achievable if Mr Soto keeps banging in the goals and steps up. If so, provided they are satisfied of a significant contribution to our sport, the FA’s endorsement of an application to the Home Office can be made. If the FA say no the player can appeal but there’s a lot of difficult hoops to jump through at the FA’s Exceptions Panel and my brain hurts just skim reading about those and possible implications of Brexit legal adjustments in all this, but hopefully neither will be necessary or get in the way. Judging by the video clips though it will all be worth the effort and the wait, with two years said to be left on his contract at the start of next season. Anyone know if there’s an option for a further year on that?
  12. If Sunderland, Donny and Charlton each win their game in hand Ipswich would cling on to a play-off spot only on goal difference.
  13. The tone of the BT commentary! You'd think that with the 'what a moment this is for him stuff .... wow that was a good block .... it's a tough ask for him predominantly a centre back having to go in at right back, Godfrey does incredibly well (gasp) etc etc .... that he'd never done this first team football thing before. Still, that Ancelloti chappy will be able to turn him into a Prem player, what with his development skills!!!!
  14. It’s always happened and this dinosaur white noise coming out of Yorkshire is pretty crude head turning and tapping up isn’t it? Predictably classless, though of course they’ll just deny it’s them starting it. Don’t care what the two clubs’ views are on his valuation, if it happens now or in the future I’m pretty sure it’s Mr Webber’s numbers which will end up nearest to any deal and the more public the manoeuvres the more likely it is that that will be the case. Football’s back soon, let's just get on with it - for sure the club’s future doesn’t turn on any one player, or any five players come to that. OTBC.
  15. Thought vivacious was the wrong word to use here, looked in a dictionary (remember those? 😂) and found there was no reason not to use it. Well done Diane and friends for keeping the ball rolling. OTBC
  16. And a while further back (mid to late 60s), Morningtown Ride holds fond memories of pre-match - when did that one get dropped?
  17. Thought of Ron Davies for Wales back in the mid 60s as the first. Had to Google for a date of April 1963 and an earlier international player. Looks like Ollie Burton was capped a year ahead him, also for Wales - that had completely passed me by or just been lost in time to me. Surprisingly tricky pinpointing caps while with us and I'm not sure about the accuracy of the above, but surely we had someone earlier???
  18. Best of luck Timm, a class act. Your equaliser against the Binners will live long in the memory.
