I suppose that at least he’s going for it! But does seem he has either lost the plot or just taking the chance that has to try something different or he loses his job. Like others the persistence with McLean is the thing that annoys me….but guess this has to be the game where he demonstrates he can bring something even if it is just energy and experience. Still have fingers and everything else crossed for Farke’s sake

Tend to agree he isn’t a premier league starter but probably a squad player and would be very decent in the championship. Most worrying thing is that he’s probably been the best and most consistent of all our new signings bar Norman…which explains why we have been so rubbish this season. McLean is one of my least favourite players but I recognise he has done a good job for us in championship but he has been absolute garbage this year and I can not understand how he has been selected every game…another reason why we are struggling so bad.

I think the point is that something needs to change. We are stuck in a rut with a horrendous run of results, a team which seems disjointed and unmotivated, or most expensive signings ever sitting on bench. We can’t change players until January and seriously doubt we have the money to afford the type of players who could make that big a difference. Sacking Webber won’t change the team immediately. Can’t change owners without a new buyer. That sadly means all we can do is gamble on a new manager. It’s a shame as I love farke and what he has done for the club but it’s our only choice. I’d give him one final chance…an impressive performance and win v Leeds out he is out.

We don’t play 3 in midfield it’s 2 …McLean has gone missing in every game. Yet again was rubbish today. Total waste of space. We should bring one of the creative players or at least Sorenson. One of Farke biggest mist each week, it’s like playing with 10 men

None of the players see, to even care. a real crock of s**t performance by them all. Farke needs to have them coming out fighting in second half or unfortunately something needs to change and it’s easier to change the manager than the entire squad. It’s honestly getting a bit embarrassing isn’t it. Issue for me (amongst many others) is McLean. Offers absolutely nothing in midfield at moment. He isn’t offering any fight or presence. We might as well play one of the more genuinely talented and skilful players.

Not sure today is the day to switch to attacking again. Idah shouldn’t be anywhere near the first team at moment anyhow I’m sad to say

Emi lowest rated player on bbc website. I know it’s quite pathetic but I am taking joy in seeing him struggle there. Especially as have loads of Villa supporting work colleagues and some of my limited football joy comes from hearing them crying over Grealish and moaning about what a waste o money Buendia was

I think he has been relatively poor this season, lacking in confidence and fight and surprised he has avoided any criticism. Having said that I thought last Saturday was his best game, mainly as in the 2nd half Kabak did an excellent job of covering him and allowing him to push up. He's far more effective on the front foot and pushing the winger back then defending (hence why he looks SO much more impressive for us in Championship compared to premier league).

1-0 to us and will kick start our season and see us avoiding relegation (at least that is what my heart is telling me and I'm praying for!)

It's interesting that the PinkUn has gone public with such a bold heading about his absence today from training. Surely forces Farke to give more details at press conference tomorrow (which will be tough if Cambridge's assertion is sadly correct).

Only just picking up on Farke's post match comments about Cantwell as per the front page 'article'. Dont really want to go into the circumstances of the personal issues that have kept him out as that's private and between him and the club. But interested on people's thoughts on what we do now he is available. I generally do agree with Farke in that no player should be able to just walk back into the team and dislodge others who are training exceptionally well. But surely we cant afford to allow a talented player like Cantwell to not be at least on the bench? Weird that it's now appears a direct choice between him and Dowell where previously have played in different positions and in the same team (although I'd like to see Todd playing central). It's a bit of a dilemma at the moment as the current formation means that arguably our 'best' (or at least most creative) players - Cantwell, Gilmour, Rashica, Dowell, Tzolis are ALL out of the team and on occasions out of the squad. Surely that cant continue? I'm a real fan of Todd's and it would be a bit depressing if he continues to be omitted from the squad and is then left with no option but to leave the club.... I certainly cant see why he'd want to sign a new contract in the current circumstances.

I do agree system worked well yesterday. Most notable second half where I think the key difference is that Kabak was excellent at covering Max and that allowed him to push forward. Interestingly on other side I thought Gibson was poor covering Dimitris. That didn’t stop Dimi bursting forward but we were far more susceptible to the counter on that side

Not really been mentioned in other posts but I thought PLM had a really good game yesterday, probably most consistent 90 mins since joining. What I find most pleasing about that is that it has given me hope that him alongside Normann are strong enough for us to play a central 2 and then have 3 hard working but more attack minded players in front (take your pick from cantwell, Rashica, Tzolis, Gilmour, Dowell, Sargent). Probably not against the top sides but games we really should be going for a win (in normal circumstances that would be Brighton but I was happy with the continued cautious approach yesterday given our woeful start and their impressive start)

We didn’t win so the winless run isn’t actually over! run of losses is. and it may be sad but I’m genuinely excited to have got our first point if the season

I think he is a very decent player who will look brilliant in championship but probably not physically strong enough for the premier league. Guess that could apply to most of our midfield! but he does offer promise

I’m again desperately trying not to spend another Saturday night moaning and depressed. Despite how awful the start has been IF we can just get one win we will be level with other teams and there will still be something to fight for. Guess it’s the hope that kills you!!!

In a nutshell…we were on top and building pressure before McLean completely messed it up
