2.

It actually makes you wonder the if we would have beaten Colchester first game but then lost 7 - 1 to Yevil or Exeter seeing Gunn still sacked would Colchester have been celebrating when Lambert went? maybe the likes of Colchesterfan could let us know.
Yes guys Lambert was an unpopular figure with the Colchester fans, even more so with the playing staff, some of them said it was like winning the lottery when he went, below are some comments from our OMB before he was appointed in 2008 Yes his name has been mentioned on here before OP but I dont think he will get it, I have heard a whisper Paul Lambert is one of the favourites, cant say that would impress me either. Am hoping that the club holds out to appoint a slightly more high-profiled name then Paul Lambert, with a bit more managerial experience or with a strong connection with the club but from the wikipedia source, it says that Lambert is the type of manager that will motivate ... i hope it''s not lambert, wouldn''t fill me with confidence. Just not Lambert if it is, it will be a serious disappointment! This is an absolutely shocking appointment. I was feeling rather confident that RC was going to pull in a good manager with good credentials. This man does not tick any boxes and I very much doubt will be able to hack the pressure. If he couldn''t handle Wycombe god help Robbie Cowling and Colchester... Lambert is 5-2 favourite with bookies still. Bookies don''t OFTEN get it wrong.....but if it''s Lambert I think it''ll be a bit of a damp squib, personally. He''s done nothing to suggest he can turn our season around. So Lambert couldn''t hack it in League Two a few months ago, so he gets a chance in League One? Great news, not........ I dont want Lambert or Scott, Lambert is a Wycombe reject who walked when it mattered and Scott should stay at Brentford and try get them promoted. I will be disgusted if we appoint a Wyscum reject as manager. So he got off to a good start [:D]
I remember reading many comments on here the same as those when we appointed him. But no one is saying it now! Just shows as fans we don''t know everything!

 4.
Now we know how Man Utd & Chelsea feel when they play their leagues also-rans like Burnley, Wigan, Portsmouth, Hull, etc. Colchester are a tin pot small club currently batting above their station after some lucky 1 goal wins. The freak result early in the season was just that - a freak result. I have no fears about this game and expect to see Colchester beginning their slide down the table after Saturday''s game. Makes me laugh how they have hyped it all up as if Real Madrid were coming to town!
And the award for most idiotic post of the day goes to.....YOU! This is a massive game. They are challenging at the top for a reason it''s because they are a real threat and we will have to perform at our best to take anything from this.
 5.

So relegating the team he loves, then preparing for the new season so badly that we lose 7-1 aren''t worthy of maybe a smidgen of regret? Words fail me.
God Morty that''s so naive. Gunn didn''t relegate the team, relegation resulted from several seasons of truly hopeless managers such as Roeder (IMO the absolute worst manager we have ever had, apart from Hamilton of course !) and Grant and years of truly inept direction and financial management. In my company I took over as departmental head with the previous incumbent being sacked for incompetence and abysmal failure to achieve corporate objectives. In fact, I discovered that his main failure was not getting rid of key staff in the department who had been there years and who resented being managed and it took me a couple of years to root them out and replace them with the right people. Forgive the expression but Gunn inherited a "load of gobsh____te" from Roeder and at the time many people, including posters on here, questioned Gunn''s wisdom at taking over such a heap of dung. Therefore, IMO Gunn is guilty only of (A) lack of commonsense in taking the job in the first place and (B) Theoklitis. I certainly don''t think he deserved the public criticism from McNally which I thought was unnecessary and unprofessional and I definitely don''t blame him for "taking us down". The rot had set in a long time before and it was an inexorable downward spiral with Gunn ill-advisedly taking over kust at the point of no return. Guilty of poor judgement in taking the job at the time (no one else wanted it including Boothroyd because they could see that the sharp downward trend could not be reversed in a mater of months) but not guilty of relegating us. And, no, despite the fact that I agree that Lambert is an excellent manager, he would not have avoided the drop either.
I only read the first line of this! Gunn did relegate us. he was the manager in charge when we went down, When he took the job we were outside the relegation zone he took us into it and was the Manager in charge for some of the worst results/perfomances in our history.
 6.

On the subject of selling the ground, Reported today that the Glazers are looking to sell Old Trafford to pay off the debts.
Their training ground. Not Old Trafford.
That''s not what it said on the news this morning it definitely said they were looking at the option of selling Old Trafford. Maybe reporter got it wrong.

 8.

Her words on not selling the ground mean nothing. It will be out of her control when it becomes a case of that or going bust. Without investment it''s just empty words and i''m not having a go at her it''s just how it is.
How words might not mean anything, but her bank account might! Im glad she doesnt want to, I think it would be a a terrible short term solution that could potentially leave us wishing we had not done it perhaps 5 years down the line if we do become a mid table top flight team.
But how long will she continue to pump money into a bottomless pit of debt before it''s a case of enough is enough? I admire her for doing it but she can''t keep us above water forever. It''s clear that without investment it''s just putting of the inevitable.

 10. He is a goal scorer and he knows where the back of the net is. As long as the team are good enough to create chances at a higher level he will still score goals. Just not as many as this season.
 11.
Hoolahan has more goals and assists than any other Irish midfielder. Although he is playing in the third (pronounced ''turd'' if you''re from Dublin like Wesley) tier, he is more than capable of playing for Ireland in the World Cup.... :-)
Holt has more chance of playing for England in the World Cup than Wes does for Ireland cos Ireland aint in the World  Cup! Remember Henry!
 12. What a strange appointment! If i were a Burnley fan i would be fuming at this.
 13. 100k. No it wouldn''t even come close to clearing my mortgage. A silly Euro Millions win of say 70 Million then definitely. Delia has put in and lost a lot of money BUT she will still retire with more than most of us could ever dream of having.
 14.
SSN revealed that manchester utd have to pay £50,000 an HOUR just to cover their intrest on their debts!!!!!!
No the amount quoted on there was £47,000 a MINUTE.
 15.

But this thread is talking about a player leaving for another club, and someone pointed out we''re bigger than Boro so why would he leave? Unless players careers span 30 years where the clubs will be in 25 years is neither here nor there. Historically Leeds are bigger than Burnley, at the mo they''re not, just like we''re not the Biggest in East Anglia.
No, can''t agree, it simply means that Burnley is currently more successful than Leeds not that Burnley is bigger.
You are opening up a can of worms here. What measures a club''s "bigness"? Previous form or current form? Previous league position or current? What actually matters is how much folding green they can put in a footballers back pocket NOW.
Exactly. For example when we were in the Premier League we were linked with a number of West Ham players at the time a Championship team. In the end we moved for Ashton and not Harewood but Harewood would of moved to the Premier at a heart beat had we moved for him. Then the following season we lose star players to them. All that matters now is who is higher up the ladder at any given time if Burnley moved for any Leeds players this window they would go without a second''s thought.
 16. Leeds team! It''s the best team in the league. And the league above, and the league above that and Europe and the World. They have the best players in every position they would win the World Cup if only the authities that hate them and unfairly pick on them would let them enter. Even their worst players are the best players in the world at being the worst players in the world.
 17. 22! Our luck will run out soon no doubt he will get injured or sold. This resulting with our slide down the table finishing 13th. Leeds will go from strenth to strenth keeping hold of Beckford who will hit 57 further goals and they will walk the league and FA Cup and in time go on to win the Inter Galactic trophy beating Neptune''s Champions to win the title of "Greatest Football Team Ever In The History Of The Universe". Bloody hell i turned into Spainboy then! His Jedi mind tricks are getting stronger!
 18.
Is catching Leeds really that important? It would be wonderful if we could over-take them but surely finishing in the top 2 is just as important as aiming to win the league? It has been argued that Leeds'' point tally and position is something we should use to aim for but lets not forget the chasing pack (namely COL WHO!? and Charlton). Pull away from the chasing pack and then think about leeds. Am I totally wrong?
As long as we go up i don''t care if it''s 1st or 2nd there is no real glory in winning the 3rd division. But now having Leeds within touching distance is massively important. The chase is on now and that chase should pull us away from the pack.
 19.
Clingham/todat, I''ll have what you''re having JF.
Lol!
 20. My god Forests second goal! Goss anyone!! Sammy Clingham scored a cracker as well todat.
 21. Is on now and look out for Sammy Clingham''s goal it''s a bit special!
 22.
Its all about the team. A well coached team is greater than any individual and I think Lambo is assembling a team that works for each other. Look at our Championship team, it was mostly staffed with hard working, effective footballers who played for each other.
Exactly. Look at what Forest done to WBA tonight! Won 3-0 away for those who don''t know.
