  1. Feel for Mick McCarthy as he is an honest bloke & has done a decent job at Wolves but it couldn''t have happened to a better set of ''supporters''.
  2. It''s an interesting debate, players & teams can perform because of the fear factor but we are continually evolving under Lambert & pushing on. Now we''re secure in mid-table, we look to not only maintain it but improve upon it if possible. Players are playing for the shirt and their futures. There is no doubt players will come in over the summer as Lambert looks to improve the side again, that means players will go or slip down the pecking order.
  3. League Cup runner up doesn''t make Europe even if the winner has already qualified. FA Cup on the other hand. Assuming Liverpool win the League Cup & another of the top 6 the FA; 7th makes the Europa League qualifiers.
  4. We''ve looked a better side with Surman & Pilkington on the flanks of the diamond, always got to look at getting in players with good movement & composure on the ball.
  5. Always decent analysis. Kammy actually has an interest in football outside the top 6 unlike Hansen & Co. Europe was tongue in cheek though, we''ve got a better chance through the FA Cup.
  6. I''m with Mahogany, I grew up watching the European Cup with purely ''Champions'', a prestigious UEFA Cup & the Cup Winners Cup. The European Cup is now a closed-commercial competition for the same top sides from the top leagues of England, Spain, Italy & Germany. Whilst the Europa League pales in comparison with little money generated, too many games being played & half-empty stadiums making it a burden. Although the Champions League will stay as it is, I say bring back the knock-out style UEFA Cup. Less games to stretch resources, games become make or break resulting in more interest & bigger crowds.
  7. That''s the thing though, the Europa League doesn''t generate much money. Peanuts in comparison to the Premier League & Champions League. All 48 sides in the group phase were entitled to a participation fee of €640,000 plus €360,000 in match bonuses – comprising €60,000 per group game played. In addition, performance bonuses were paid: €140,000 per win and €70,000 per draw in the group stage. Reaching the round of 32 assured each team of an extra €200,000, with further progress being rewarded by payments of €300,000 for advancing to the round of 16, €400,000 for the quarter-finals and €700,000 for the semi-finals. On top of those awards, Porto were then assigned €3m as winners of the 18 May final at the Dublin Arena and Braga €2m as runners-up. The season''s highest-earning side, however, were Villarreal CF, the Spanish team Porto defeated in the semi-finals – they collected a combined €9m. Just a couple of places difference in the Premier League are worth more than playing in the group stages.
  8. The Europa League is a second rate competition nowadays. Our strength this season has been our ability to make a few changes to the side & system on a game-by-game basis. Having played Thursday night in a Europa League game, we then have 5/6 enforced changes for the Sunday league game leaving Lambert with no flexibility in selection. Spurs have proved how difficult it is to compete in the Europa League & domestically and they''ve got a huge squad & resources. If there was a financial reward for participating, as is the case with the Champions League, it would be worth qualifying but instead its a massive burden on resources. I''d love to participate in Europe but logistically the Europa League is a nightmare.
  9. Tactically superb from Lambert, 2 up front & then Surman, Bennett & Pilkington attacking with pace & quality in support.
  10. It''s been a squad effort all season, I''ve stopped worrying about players coming in from the cold, they very rarely let us down.
  11. There are 38 tough games, as there were 46 tough games last season.
  12. So would you tell a grieving parent to calm down after their son/daughter have been hit by a motorist breaking the law?
  13. Why have so few season ticket holders bought tickets? We''re in the 5th Round, with the potential of a Quarter Final & the price is reasonable.
  14. It was a complimentary tweet with a little comment made in jest. The world has gone made. I appreciate we have to be more careful when making comments behind a screen where context can be lost but anybody with a few brain cells can see there was no malice or meaning behind the comment.
  15. I''m not sure its right to chant something that condones breaking the law & puts lives at risk.
  16. Like the look of Matthew Briggs, surprised he hasn''t featured more Fulham to be honest..
  17. I think I got tickets in the ''Neutral'' area in 2005. Its very ''Fulham''. 1 of the quietest and well-mannered grounds I''ve been in.
  18. Its a parody account as the bio states, the first word of the tweet is a spelling mistake(deliberate off course).
  19. From what I''ve gathered, its the ''ole'' Leicester wanting the full allocation but not being prepared to pay for unsold tickets or wanting to reduce the allocation, They''ve decided to query it with the FA & due to the delay, we''ve given them the 2,400 allocation so we can get on with things.
  20. Don''t understand why they send the kids on long trips just to get hammered, surely Vaughan & Ward need game-time,
  21. Good, I''d much rather have their fans unable to get tickets than ours.
  22. I don''t know the exact figures and dates but didn''t the club confirm they were rounding all prices to the nearest 50p to speed up service & improve turnover. The more cynical of you will say they don''t, but perhaps the club delays increasing prices despite inflation, so that they can maintain their pricing policy. Rather than the price consistently going up say 10p every 6 months, it goes up 50p every couple of years.
  23. I know its a bit of fun but thats stupid. I support my local team, regardless of anything else.
  24. Vaughan & Ward to feature surely, especially if we need another centre back in the squad at the weekend.
