1. I heard from a friend that Naismith was in the legends lounge pre-game yesterday and had a very open chat with Adam Drury. When an NO question came up, Naismith said something along the lines of ''he won''t be doing that again'' (don''t quote me on this, just from a 5 minute conversation after the game). So maybe implying he has been disciplined for his antics, like you would expect from most managers if they were unhappy with a players conduct
2. Just been announced, seems strange as I think SW previously mentioned they saw him as important in having some British coaches as part of the staff... I assume we''ll see more fresh faces on the coaching team soon.
3. Always thought this kid was a tidy player when I have seen him (which is limited amounts in mainly cup/sub appearances I think). Hopefully he''s good (and tough) enough for a full Championship season, certainly a good age and coming from one of the best academy set ups around.
4. Surely means one or more of our current midfielders will be leaving. Interesting times as the ''budget'' is clearly there and Webber is looking to get the best use of it.
5. Does anyone on here collect programmes? I have a couple of boxes that have been in the loft for ages and now I am moving house I am wondering if its time they went to a better home. I haven''t been through them but mostly 90s-2000s with the odd away game in there (maybe even some 80s away games). I also have a signed ball from the 2010-11 promotion winning squad, which I won in a charity auction, and a 2003-04 commemorative artists framed print, which I would listen to offers for. If anyone is interested please let me know.
6. In seriousness, sooner or later we are going to need someone to come in and freshen the whole squad up, clear out some of the bigger earners and use the promising youngsters. If not we''ll slip back into debt and the board will be doing all they can to run a ship tighter than a ducks backside.
7. What does akala think of you watching so much football TG?
8. What are people''s views on Mbokani? Hypothetically (if he would come back) would paying him a silly wage for a season be a good move - considering he is a free agent so no £15m fee! Surely he could play that role in the Championship
9. I think the underlying factor is that a ''20 goal'' man is only as good as the chances he gets. Grabban would have got 20 if you gave him 100 good chances. I think any decent Championship striker with the right attitude and temperament would be able to step up in our team (like Jerome has).
10. Don''t know many overseas players but a few championship strikers I think we could get are: Nakhi Wells (Huudersfield) 17 goals last season, in lower half team. Nouha Dicko (Wolves) Would be a gamble after an injury but was strong and fast before injury and got goals before injury. Chris Wood (Leeds) A bit of a confidence player but good at holding the ball up, gets a few goals and leads the line quite well. Would compliment our attacking midfielders well. Surely we could 2 of those 3 for a decent looking forward set up
11. I''ve said it before and will probably say it again, Nakhi Wells will score goals in the Championship and there is no way we''d be paying anywhere near £15m for him!
12. Its always been thought that young players aren''t attracted to Norwich. Whereas older (28+ - albeit not that this is old in the grand scheme of things) players with young families love the area, proximity to the coast etc. I guess what I am saying is Norwich probably isn''t viewed as a stepping stone, both in life and football...
13. Haha do you mean "we''ll go with what we have got". I don''t think Dunk would leave Brighton unless it was for an established Prem team
14. Lots of names on this thread yet to move. I mentioned Hanley and now he''s being linked to Newcastle! I really hope we are going out to get at least one of Wells or Kodija and possibly the young lad Clough...
15. Some of these may not be realistic prices but I have guessed amounts that I think are realistic. Nakhi Wells (Huddersfield) Scored 17 for a mi/lower table Championship side, so you would hope he would get the same/more for us. Would Huddersfield be able to turn down £4.5m-£5m for him? Tom Bradshaw (Walsall) Scored 15 odd for Walsall and they will do well to get promoted now so he may look to move on. Just got into the Wales squad too. Maybe £2.5m-£3.5m realistically? Grant Hanley (Blackburn) Knows the league well by now, Scotland international (I think?) but maybe not Premier League standard. £4-£5m? Bradley Dack (Gillingham) I think he was awarded the League 1 player of the year and would add to our young midfield if Tettey goes. Keeping O''Neil and Howson to bring Maddison, Thompson and this guy in and I think we would be well stocked. Would be in demand so maybe £3m-£4m plus add ons? I know its unlikely we''ll go and spend £17-£18 on 4 players, but if Redmond, Tettey and Klose left I think its realistic and affordable. I also think Toffolo and both Murphys should be in and around the squad.
16. I think/hope he will learn from it and do his business early in future windows
17. "Fighting in the trenches against a bigger team" "We need the truth" Classic stuff this
18. "Johnson wanted to go " ^^^This Firtsly (and I am not saying he is money motivated, as when I met him he seemed like a devent bloke) he will be on as much, if not more money at Derby (they are paying big money, £20k pw+ to Ince, Weimann, Bent and Shackell to name just a few) and he got a 4 year deal at 28 years old. Secondly, he will play 90% of the games in a very good squad who will push for the league, rather than stay and be a bit-part player for a team that won''t be challenging for any honours. Thats why he refers to it as an easy decision!
19. Has had a pop at Stoke today. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/34073598 Could still be some go in this? I''d take him but I''m not sure he is the answer to what we need long term (i.e. on a 3 year deal), but short term I think he would add to the squad.
20. Also just said Jordi Amat from Swansea (a centre back)
21.
How would he move us forward which I assume is the aim, a definite no for me
Premier League experience, over 50 international caps, available cheap (possibly free) and adds depth to the squad in a position we need cover in. As we know football is all a matter of opinions but I''d take him as a squad player over Turner (who''s likely to be on his way out) and I''m sure he''d see it as an opportunity to re-ignite his career.
22.
Interesting that Josh and Jacob have gone to clubs a division apart. Wonder if that reflects how NCFC see their current development level, or if it''s just who came in for them.
Interesting yes, but location wise they aren''t a million miles apart so I wouldn''t be surprised if they house-share somewhere between the two
23. Not a rumour/link, but just seen on the BBC gossip column that Villa have reportedly said he can leave. 30 years old, premier league experience and a position we need depth in. I''d probably take him here on a 1-2 year deal, think he''s an upgrade on Cuellar/Miquel and Turner. Still prone to a gaff here and there but then thats why I think he''s an achievable signing for us
