  1. They're not going to fine Leeds because they haven't broken the rules. Leeds would appeal any fine or points deduction and they'd win in any court you choose. Is it against the spirit of the game? sure. Is it and illegal and punishable offence? no. Nothing is going to be done about it because nothing can be done about it. Next season the rules will be updated to specifically address the issue, and if anyone does it then, they'll be punished for it. But this time round, regardless of whether people think it's acceptable or not, there's nothing that can be done. If we're demanding action against Leeds, that's pretty ridiculous and a waste of everyone's time; If we're registering our displeasure officially and asking the EFL to fix this loophole for next season then it makes sense.
  2. Would love to see a back 3 this time as the extra man would help us to cope with the long-ball that Birmingham are likely to try and would also give Max & Jamal a bit more protection allowing them to take a little more risk in getting forward and overlap more where they'll be able to outplay Brum on the ground. Cantwell is clearly a special talent who's maturing into a very talented player but the last 3 or 4 games he's not been at the levels he was in November/December, I dont think you can objectively look at the options we have available and say he should be starting on current form; Huge potential to change the game off the bench though and 75 minutes on the sidelines might just fire up his hunger even more. Hernandez for me needs to get the nod with Buendia and Stiepermann if he's available, either McClean or Pukki dropping back behind Rhodes if not; Tough call in the defensive midfield space but I'd go with Trybull just I think - Thompson needs a half hour off the bench to get back up to speed and then he's going to be huge for us I suspect in the run-in this season; Vrancic has done a lot well recently but without Tettey alongside him, he isn't the player we need for this particular task. Krul Zimmerman Hanley Godfrey Aarons Lewis Trybull Buendia Stiepermann/MacLean/Pukki Hernandez Pukki/Rhodes Bench : McGovern; Passlack; Cantwell; Vrancic; Thompson; MacLean; Rhodes (Srbeny if Stiepermann is out and MacLean or Rhodes start)
  3. I think it definitely needs a few changes - There's no reason it needs 2-legged semi finals/final; make it 1 leg all the way with the lowest-ranked team on the date of the draw getting home advantage (benefits the smaller clubs); Does anyone really want to go through extra time on a wet Wednesday evening in November? I'd have ET for the first few rounds but then straight to penalties from the last 32 onwards I'd also suggest a rule for a minimum of 5 U23 (maybe even U21) players in the starting lineup to encourage it as a competition to develop young players. You could even scale that rule by divisions - PL/CH must have 5, L1&2 must have 3. Players in the Semi final and Final must have made at least one appearance in the competition (or be U21) - You can't play the whole competition with reserves and then dump them and bring in the superstars for the final only. Scrap the idea of exempting clubs who qualify for Europe until R3 - let them join in R2 with the rest of the PL/CH sides, since they'll mostly be using a mix of youth and squad players anyhow. Too many games for your big stars to handle? Boo hoo, that's called squad management. I'd also suggest playing most of the competition in the first half of the season and putting the final on the first weekend of this new 'winter break' that we're getting next season. The 2 clubs who make the final can maybe get their next set of fixtures pushed back to a Monday or Tuesday so they only lose a couple of days off the winter break.
  4. Otherwise maybe go for legendary managers... Bowman first ever manager, Reid first to win a trophy, Walker most successful ever/first to lead us into Europe, and maybe leave a stand empty for Farke's name when he leads us to glory? 😛
  5. I'd go for our all-time greatest players in each position - GK,DEF,MID,FWD I'd say Kevin Keelan, Ron Ashman, Jonny Gavin, Terry Allcock Holt, Wes, Hucks were all massive players and club legends for sure but I wouldnt put any of them on quite the same level of all-time greats.
  6. I really liked the look of Vaulks when we played against them a few weeks back, He seems to fit the Webber/Farke profile as well so I wouldnt be surprised if he's on a shortlist - but i doubt we'd go after him now, just too expensive in January unless Tettey's injury is serious and we have to replace him. Could see him signing a pre-contract deal like Buendia and coming in the summer though for sure.
  7. Husband is technically back with us isn't he? I thought his loan ran out on Dec 31st. Given our needing LB cover especially this week I suspect he'll get a game at left back to see if he's improved any with more regular football; then most likely will be shipped out again before the end of the month. I'd guess the lineup will be something like McGovern (although I hope it's Krul) Pinto Hanley Godfrey Husband Trybull Marshall McLean ??U23?? Rhodes Srbeny Maybe Passlack somehow fitting in there too, not really sure how versatile he is. What U23 players are closest to breaking through do we think? Would love to see Idah get his debut as a sub, and if Tettey's out for more than a couple of games we'll need someone to step up to cover either at DM or another backup option in central defence allowing Godfrey to move forward.
  8. from Farke. I'm a huge fan of what he's done for us this season but he got it wrong today - Hanley should arguably have started and certainly should have come on, Subs needed to be made earlier, and no idea how Cantwell made it to the end given that he had a poor game today I thought. Should have pulled him off at 3-2 up and put Hanley on to strengthen the defence. On the upside I guess the defence has become increasingly sloppy over the past few weeks but got away with it because we were still winning; Hopefully they get a massive rocket up their collective @rses now and can kick on for the rest of the season.
  9. It's lighter out there with 3 floodlights than on a rainy afternoon in the summer. No reason at all not to play! This is pathetic. We managed 100-odd years of football before anyone had floodlights... However did they cope?!
  10. It's a tough call as I love the way Farke is trusting in our young players; but you have to question leaving arguably our most talented defender in Hanley on the bench when we're having so many defensive issues... Might need to look at 3 at the back for a couple of games if just to restore some defensive confidence?
  11. Working for me... I'm outside the UK though, not using a VPN if that makes a difference?
  12. I found I had to refresh the browser without content blockers (using Safari) then it worked. I think they've changed the settings somehow so that browsers recognise the player as some kind of plugin or something.
  13. Yup 🙂 French Guyana flag is the nearest I could find to Norwich colours!

  15. Would I be saying that a talented, up and coming manager who's just given a good demonstration of his tactical nous should be someone the club is keeping tabs on for the future? Unless he was an Ipswich fan, Yes, I absolutely would. I think he's done a good job so far at Rotherham, they're certainly performing better than an initial glance at the teamsheet would suggest they have any right to be doing. Don't get me wrong, I hope Farke stays here for years to come and leads us to great things...And honestly the impression I get is that he genuinely likes it here and might well do just that. But realistically if we keep performing the way we are, he's going to get calls from bigger Premier League and Bundesliga clubs at some point, and IF he decided to move on we would be foolish not to be following the progress of potential replacements.
  16. Good manager, doing impressive things with a tight budget at Rotherham. Yes we beat them over the 90 minutes and form and class ultimately told, but he got their tactics spot on for the first half I thought to do the job they needed to do, and if that shot off the post had gone in I think they would have taken at least a point from us. Wouldn't mind seeing his name on the shortlist of potential replacements when Farke eventually moves on - Let's hope that's not an issue for a long while, but I think Warne could do very well at a bigger club if and when we need to start looking.
  17. Oliveira out would be good for everyone concerned at this point, hopefully he can go on and have a good rest of his career somewhere. Can't see us buying another 'Keeper in January, McGovern isn't good enough but realistically he's not likely to kick a ball in anger again this season unless Krul gets injured; if we get promoted we'll have the money to either look for a better option if Webber and Farke think we need it, or to bring in a decent backup. Would like to see a new LB in as cover but most likely a youngster on loan as they won't realistically dislodge Lewis form the starting lineup, no sense in spending significant money on them. Someone like Steven Sessegnon (younger brother of Ryan) from Fulham might be ideal.
  18. That's an interesting thought actually... If it really is all about transition and having a group of people who work well together, maybe Farke moving to Sporting Director and Reimer stepping up from assistant to head coach might be the board's Plan B if it's needed? Theoretically that would cause minimal disruption to the squad...
  19. If I recall, a major part of the reason Webber left Huddersfield was that they had a falling-out over Huddersfield's decision to axe funding for their youth setup. (We took on a couple of their promising young players too who were left out in the cold by that decision, if I'm not mistaken). From everything we've seen so far here, Webber seems genuinely to believe that developing young players is the way to go. It's certainly possible that his head could be swayed by a huge pay offer, but given what he's achieved so far here, given his wife's role here, given that we seem to have a board willing to wholeheartedly embrace his ideas and visions for taking the club forward - I would be surprised if he left all that for a club with some significant instability and a very questionable top flight future. Farke I don't see going there this season even if Webber did go - If Hughes is sacked (likely to happen at some point this season) the fans will be demanding a big name appointment to keep them in the top flight, not a gamble on an up and coming manager, who Webber knows would require time to build the squad to suit his type of football.
  20. In terms of new players coming in, it's going to be a bit of an awkward situation I feel - perhaps more so if we're genuinely looking at a promotion push come January. If we're recruiting for the Championship next season both of the names linked above look like good options with potential to do well - but if we were to go up, realistically the step up from Lincoln or Cork to the PL is going to be much too big for them. At 21 and 24 years old respectively, they'd presumably be coming in to the first team squad not the youth system...
  21. I suspect Maclean might go out on loan in the second half of the season - He seems to be highly rated and part of the long-term strategy but has struggled for fitness and at this point is probably at the back of the queue in midfield due to the good form of other players - Cantwell has progressed faster than anticipated and Stiepermann moving further forward means he's somewhat surplus to requirements right now. Second half of the season at one of the weaker teams in the Championship might end up being a good move for both him and the club. Marshall I think will get games later this season; legs will start to get tired especially as the weather and pitch quality deteriorates and someone a bit grittier like Marshall might be better suited to say Hull away at the end of this month or Bolton and Preston in quick succession at the end of February. Not all teams and conditions will allow Hernandez, Cantwell and Buendia to play the game the way they like; having options available will benefit us big time I suspect.
  22. Back on topic, Does anyone who regularly follows the reserve/academy sides know which - if any - other youngsters might be close to breaking through this season? Obviously Lewis and Aarons have impressed during pre-seasons the last two years, but Cantwell eased his way into the cup side/bench in the middle of last season before heading out on loan and is very much up to speed for the first team now; seemed to be a very successful pathway for him so do we have anyone else who might make the same transition during the season?
  23. Oxborough on the bench filling out one of the home-grown slots would make far more sense than McGovern, there can''t be that much difference in quality between the two give that McGovern is way off being good enough for our level and Oxborough would benefit from the experience of being in and around the senior squad, where he presumably has a future, instead of McGovern who will surely be off at the end of the season regardless.
