  1. Please feel free to give up if you want to. Personally I thought some of you had given up long ago. But this fan''s not for giving up! I think it is called giving it a go, enjoying the sport, and , ''Never mind the Danger''. Cheerio, Cheerio, Cheerio..........
  2. Some of us love this Club, so it is always a good time to be a City fan, regardless of budgets, finance and money for new players.
  3. Roeder has done his Job and kept us up, and the Board have done theirs by appointing him. We all know next season is going to be important, as we all know that Roeder is no messiah, but he looks to be a decent Manager. His main task is to bring good players in, on a budget, as it is fairly clear we do not have alot of money. Therefore his football judgement is going to be crucial. Personally I think the Board will be fairly generous yet again, but obviously this will not appease the Anti-Board reactionaries. I hope to see us consolidate in mid table next year. To some this smacks of lack of ambition but as I have said before, I would really like us to have a Cup run for a change, but that''s the romantic in me. Maybe mid-table is bit optimistic, but that''s football, it brings out the hope in us. Well done to the loyalists who went up North yesterday. I feel that the Team have let us down, and it was important that we got a result for Dion. Clearly things are not right on the pitch, and the work starts now.
  4. I was re-reading a review of the Chelsea V Man City Youth Team final. This really shows the gulf in terms of £, as Chelsea had players in their Team bought for 3.7 Milliion (just one example of a 16 year old Serbian recruit).
  5. Pub is Jubilee, and I am back row of the Snake Pit (name came fro a letter in the Paper which likened us to a nest of vipers).
  6. He remains on the THFC role of International Honour. I saw his name when I was in the Spurs Boardroom. Best picture was the picture of Martin Peters leading out Spurs, and Dave Stringer leadoing us out in 1971? League Cup Final.
  7. I have never had a problem with Doncaster''s statements. They would appear to be pretty uncontroversial and standard fare for someone in his position. It seems slightly obvious that a Club which is 17M in debt will not be able to ''splash the cash''. I enjoy the anti-Board rants, especially the ''Pots and pans'' stuff, which has become a standard pre-match joke in the Pub. But I thought I would respond to the odd post on here which suggests that spending money, going further into debt, or looking for ''handouts'' from rich people is somehow synonymous with having ''balls'' or showing guts. I would of thought that refusing to go further into debt, building up the youth team, sticking to a sensible pay ceiling for players, and looking to the longer term; now that shows real courage. Just a thought.
  8. The reason why I am a Delia fan is because I remember the CHASE ERA only to well. I thought Sir Arthur was bad until ''he''s fat he''s round'' took over!
  9. YTFC. Out of curiosity could you say why you support Yeovil? I am not being over critical as I was born in South London, and the first team I ever ''watched'' (I avoid saying Supported) was Palace, but when the family moved to Norwich in 1971 I started to go to City, and have been going regularly every year since 1976, despite the fact that I have lived in London since 1996 (and have not lived in Norwich since 1987).
  10. West Brom away, Wheatcheaf, Holdens ales, one of the best!
  11. Can we just get one fact straight. Ipswich and Norwich have basically very similar populations and catchment area''s. Being a City does not make you large in terms of population, York, Durham etc.
  12. Actually for the first time yesterday I sang that song cos I thought it was really appropriate in a way. As we all know Albion are good supporters but I think I am right in saying their average crowd has been about 22,000, so we have done better despite being down the table. But if I take my rose tinted specs off, I do get the impression that alot of people who go/or who even have season tickets are not primarily City fans. My mate who has not got a season ticket was talking to me yesterday about 2 Norwich born and bred relatives of his who have season tickets, one supports Newcastle and one Arsenal. My best mate who is an Albion fan, talks about a West Ham fan at work (London) who goes regularly. I guess alot of Clubs have this ''problem'' but my suspicion is that we probably do have more of these types than say, Stoke, Wolves, etc etc, hence our highier crowds.  Maybe the real hard core has always been about 14,000.
  13. West brom, good team, good fans, but best chant of the day..........I do like to go down the prom, prom, prom, diddlie um pom pom, * off west brom!
  14. ''there is always next summer, or the summer after that'' Well, yes, I hope so, and long may it be so, and I for one will keep enjoying my football and supporting my team (who just happen to be a team who alternate between the first and second tier of english football, a medium sized Club from a provincial City, and that''s the way I like it)!
  15. Interesting how the broader view often seems to come from those furthest away from our provincial City. In a sense we all did at one time choose to support City but now its not a matter of choice, its just a sort of burden we live with. It is interesting though talking about other Clubs as in a sense I do feel for for fans of Man U, Liverpool and Chelsea, and slightly more genuinely glad not to be supporting Leicester, Southampton etc, as these Clubs have completely sold out and dis-respected the fans. In an odd way I even feel a little priveleged to support City, perhaps dare I say it there is a touch of smugness. Dis-respect (Chase era aside) has not happened at Norwich which allows me to support a Club which for as long as I have been alive, has basically been either in the 1st or 2nd Flight of english Football (mostly 2nd flight), but who originated from the 3rd Division South. That''s football!
  16. Could I make a simple point. Just because some of us are not 100% pre-occupied with running down the Board, this does not make us ''Board Apologists''. For alot of fans, even in todays commercial football world, there is more to the game than waiting for rich people to solve all our problems. For example appropriate ''investment'' and energy on youth development, and that includes infrastructure like training facilities.
  17. ''4 times''.........call yourself a fan? Actually, seriously, I have only seen City there about 10 times (winning 3) but I have a terrible admission to make. I used to live and work in Gippeswyk for 3 years and I was given a season ticket through work, so I used to take a couple of disabled men (Town fans) to the home games. They got promoted and I have to sit on my hands and take it. To many stories to re-count here about the good/bad old days when it was a free for all on the terraces, pay at the gate!
  18. Deep down I think we know the problem is the way football is structured in this country, and things are not particularly the fault of the Board of Directors (whether that Board is Southampton, Coventry or Norwich). Alot of us still love our football although we deplore the Cartel-type creation which is the premiership with the lack of revenue sharing. If people choose to whine and whinge about lack of ambition and spending that''s fine by me. Every Club needs it disillusioned River-End type fans. Football is a game of dreams and desires, but it is also where ''hopes fade and die''. The Board has to get that balence right, and it is not easy when your 17M in debt.
  19. My point kdncfc is that we were not disgraced in the prem (a la Derby). In fact we nearly stayed up, and the experience of Malkey M in those games against Southampton, Palace, and maybe even Fulham would of got us over the finishing line. I seem to remember he did ok with Watford, and Jackson (earlier) went on for a year or two after we let him go. Sure, Arsenal would of torn him to shreds, but come on, all we needed was points Vs Palace and Saints. It was a tough decision to sell the likes of Malkey, and Ewan, but I do think it is a tad harsh to blame our relegation on lack of spending. When you get promoted a balence has to be found between the ''old guard'' and ''new blood'' in our to keep the spirit in the side. We learnt a harsh lesson in the prem, and in my view it was not about spending.
  20. Since when have professional Football Managers ever been likeable?
  21. Our relegation from the premiership was not caused by spending on infrastructure, or lack of spending on the football side, it was basically about wrong team selection, e.g selling Malkey, and bringing in players who could not adapt and did not have the heart.
  22. It is all to easy to criticise, reminds me of the Ewan baters a little bit, sure Jamie has missed a few. In my opinion it was always going to be very difficult this year for our Jamie, there was no chance of him emulating last years tally, and he season has been a success, and yes, you, boneheads, he has kept us in this division. Marching on together ...........................................
  23. Mr Carrow refers to the ''status quo''. Is that the status quo that allows Clubs like our to get into 17 M debt, that plays ordinary players inflated wages, that puts short term goals before long term investment in the playing side, that looks to wealthy businessmen to bale us out rather than arguing for real supporters and football specialists on the Board, .............I am against it.
  24. Football fans. Don''t you just love em. Football is fantastic as it allows us all to moan and groan, and blame, and be envious etc etc. Despite messing up our own lives quite a bit we become overnight experts on how to manage a PLC which is 17million in debt. Keep it coming. As for me it''s all ''rose tinted'', and I have little desire to be back among the prem cartel.
