  4. Has anyone thought that maybe some advisors at NCFC has told him to not talk about it? Silly thought I know but the statement from the board last night was a clear ''no'' and just maybe they have asked him not to drawn on the matter and to concentrate on the job at hand? Makes sense, but then again when has logic come into football!?!

I was going to have the same problem, but an British pub in Taipei has informed me that they will show the game this weekend on a delay (10pm kick off).I am finishing working out here and have delibrately stayed in Taiwan an extra day to avoid being jetlagged for the game, so hopefully it will be worth the wait!!!Bring it on!

But I could be mistaken...The last game against Slovakia in think, the poor right back on that day had to deal with Ashley Young and Wayne Routledge both drifting to the left wing...ripped him to shreds...poor bloke.

At the end of the day it is all about making sure certain countries have more chance in reaching the finals. It is in FIFA''s interest that Australia regulary qualify and by allowing more "Asian" teams to qualify there is a greater chance of rich countries such as Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia or China getting through. Ironically what has happened is North Korea and New Zealand got through - not really what was expected. They won all their games, so move on and hope we get them in the draw! It is confusing why Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are allowed within UEFA and not the AFC, I know Israel is in UEFA to avoid games against Iran etc. You are of course correct that the same amount of teams qualify from the AFC, but with the play-off now against OFC it is seen to be easier for the 5 team progress. The OFC is now by far the weakest of all the regions, but with the play-off against the 5th AFC team there is a better chance than against the 5th South American team (why is it always Uragauy?). I''m sure FIFA were hoping for China to make it this year, although they even failed to make it to the second league round. Watch out for North Korea come 2010, their team is made up from a few professional players that live in Japan and the rest are conscripts from the North Korean army, and play the same way -- should imagine plenty of red cards in their games. [/quote]You have a point, why is it always Uruguay? I can''t argue with the idea that FIFA want certain nations to get to the World Cup for various reasons, just look at the play off''s in Europe!! The whole thing is a bit of a farce sometimes, much like players such as Carney and Killen going...as they showed very little quality during their time at Carrow Road.

The tournament is supposed to be about the best from all the federations so if that means New Zealand won the right to play in SA next summer so be it! I think it adds the whole experience to have a couple of unknown quantities taking part, although they did play at the confederations cup last summer but, who was watching?.I bet no one would have complained if Portugal and France went out to inferior footballing nations last night. Infact, I think a lot of people may have enjoyed the prospect and used it to proclaim England as one of the favourites!

Instead of ripping into a player for no good reason (like Lawro) he actually has come up with good analysis and gives reasons why. I do still like Lineker and Teddy Sheringham just because of his fake irishman quip to Townsend!

  20. Has anyone noticed semi has awesome man norks? Seriously, they are 5 feet ahead of him! Anyway, aside from that he is terrible, I admire some of the runs he makes but as many people have said, no end product. Defensively he has always been found wanting and I for one do get nervous when teams attack as the seem to know that Semi gets caught ball watching leaving a lot of space behind him. We need a solid right back, and quickly, I don''t care if it is a loan, we need to do something to either make him step up his game or replace him all together. Sorry Brendan but the only good thing I can say about him is about his chest!!

But I''m not that concerned, I don''t expect us to be caught out that easily by League one teams, but it still wasn''t a good sight. In response to the OP I couldn''t agree with the ratings more, Lappin and Holt stood out so much more than the rest, although at times it is frustrating watching a team of professionals be unable to shoot with their weaker foot. Daley and Hoolahan were the worst culprits of this and it was incredibly frustrating to see a clear sight of goal only to have them turn to get it on their stronger foot, (despite needing to beat another player) to try and get a shot in, or seeing the ball passed around the edge of the box when shooting from the there may have kept Sunderland honest perhaps.

  24. I still can''t agree with any of this, his positioning was terrible, he panicked  when he had a free header or attempted a long pass, and it was no different then any other time. On a night when players like Doc, Whaley etc had a chance to impress the new boss in a competitive match, Doc looked awful. I don''t know what who SKY, Lakey and co were watching but it certainly wasn''t the Doc I saw last night.

I once heard stories of a guy who kept him out of the under 12 Catton team, friend of my brother. This guy then went to try and play hockey...even Catton didn''t rate him.
