  1. As Bethnal said, we're using statistics to identify who is worth watching in the first place, and then watching them several times in person to see if they're any good. There's no point sending scouts to a watch a team getting relegated from the Spanish second tier otherwise.
  2. Husband was a three year deal. https://www.canaries.co.uk/News/2017/july/husband-signs-for-city/
  3. Krul, McGovern, Aarons, Lewis, Heise, Godfrey, Zimmermann, Klose, Hanley, Tettey, Trybull, Thompson, Leitner, Vrancic, McClean, Hernandez, Buendia, Cantwell, Stiepermann and Pukki makes 20 ( in a 7 homegrown / 13 Foreign split ). (I'm assuming Klose signs a new contract) I'm thinking we need a No1 goalkeeper, right back cover, defensive central midfielder, pacy winger and another striker. But that still seems a touch light, so I'm guessing Thompson will have go to go out on loan.
  4. I think most people (myself included until I looked it up) aren't aware just how big the gulf is in money between the Premiership and the Championship. Given that any club going up is guaranteed £90 million (more like £100 million), if they only got £5m to spend, Delia would be trousering a lot of that 😛
  5. Only point would be that he's 35 in July, so maybe he is moving to the No3 slot. Seems very strange as I would have said a new keeper was our top priority (if we went to the Premiership), not that Krul is bad, it's just that he can't get down to low shots from distance quickly enough.
  6. I thought Dave Freezer's article was balanced https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/three-wins-should-seal-promotion-for-canaries-1-5976469 Mathematically we'd need 5 wins from 7 games, but 3 - 4 is more realistic. At this stage of the season, points on the board are everything, with the last seven games coming in a 29 day window. We're on a seven game winning streak, and have only lost three out of our last thirty four games. Unless there's an absolute mental implosion, everything points to us going up.
  7. I'll admit I hadn't realised how much the Premiership money had gone up. Talksport list that even in 20th West Brom got £94 million. I was basing my assessment on our first season in the Premiership under Lambert, but with those figures, it does look too little.
  8. As we picked up Emi Buendia for ~£1.5 million I'd expect that to shape the kind of player we're looking for. I'd be surprised if we spent more than £10-15 million on improving the squad next year
  9. I'd have thought that Klose would sign a new 2-3 year contract, giving us Godfrey, Klose, Zimmerman and Hanley. For me Hanley's the fourth in that list, so unless he wants to leave to get more game time, I struggle to see us bringing in another centre back (unless it's someone for the U-23s)
  10. I can remember being 12/13 and being genuinely pleased for the region that John Lyall's Ipswich had gotten promoted. Then they were a bunch of **** and I've hated them ever since 😛
  11. I thought Sean Bean did, but he seems to have backtracked on comments he'd made in the 90's.
  12. I know Nutty Nigel has posted this before, but it does sum Lambert up, if you keep saying the same thing over and over, and being overly positive, then you end up as a parody on youtube.
  13. It's interesting because with seven games to go positions #2 to #11 are in contention for the four playoff slots, with the only certainty being West Brom. My guess would be Sheffield United, West Brom, Villa and Derby(?), but it's so fluid that it's great to watch. I've got a nasty feeling Villa are going up.
  14. To be fair to Pritchard, he signed for us because Spurs told him to find another club, and it was us or Brighton. Then Alex Neil seemed unable to play him and Hoolahan in the same team. That Webber quote of "We have three number 10s but no left back" seems apt. Leaving a mid table Championship team for any Premiership one seems a no brainer. Believe we doubled our money, sold him for £10+ million and bought Emi Buendia for a fraction of that.
  15. Depends more on Sheffield United's results. Mathematically they can finish on 95 points, and that number will decrease each time they don't win. So whilst I'd expect us to have 89/90 points after the Sheffield Wednesday game, it'll probably be the Stoke game that confirms it.
  16. The Rio Ferdinand point was, that at the World Cup we played three central defenders who were comfortable on the ball. Which made it difficult for the opposition to close them down, as opposed to having one (Rio). It's a criteria for the modern centre back to be able to come out of defence with the ball.
  17. Leeds are a very erratic team. They lost nine games: to us, Sheffield United, WBA but also Birmingham, Blackburn, QPR, Forest, Hull and Stoke. They've got Millwall (H), Birmingham (A), Preston (A), Sheff Wed (H), Wigan (H), Brentford (A), Villa (H) and Ipswich (A) Four wins takes us to 90, and five wins to 93. Six wins takes Leeds to 91.
  18. Jacob Humphrey's claim to fame is that he lost to me (by default) in a school chess match when he forgot to turn up. Seriously, the guy is as dumb as rocks.
