  1. Baggies all the way I''m afraid - we need that gap nice and big, thankyou very much.
  2. Well said Mook - as I KEEP saying on here, we (both players and fans) have to get over the ''where''s Iwan?'' factor. People might be right in that he can hold up the ball but hell, by the time he''s passed and turned to follow up the game''s gone into the next half. He''s too slow, too cumbersome and although he still works hard he is no good for our attacking football anymore. That''s not to say he''s c*ap, but we need to move on. By the way, I was very impressed with Svensson''s comments about his own form today. It takes a big man to do that and we should support him for it. All of you shouting ''Iwan'' at him on Saturday are an utter disgrace and should give up your tickets to real fans.
  3. Love it. Poor bloke''s been out for weeks and because he doesn''t play very well on his return to the reserves on a freezing March night, he''s no good at all. I can''t believe people are still moaning about him and he''s not even in the first team. We all know what Rivers is about, we know what he''s capable and that he doesn''t ever seem to reach his potential, or necessarily even want to. That''s why he''s not in the team, surely? So why criticise him? He''s being punished enough as it is - if he doesn''t sort it out, no Premiership footie for him. Does he really need us going on at him as well? All you lot moaning about our players when we''re 9 games away from the Big Time really depress me. Look at Svensson; the bloke needs time to settle in, the team need time to get used to him. Every game is a high pressure game and he is expected to perform each time, but it''s not going to help a new player if the fans get at him. All you Iwan lovers must learn that to progress, we must develop a system of football that does not rely on the big Welshman being there to knock the ball down (and frankly that''s pretty much all he''s capable of these days). We ARE going to be promoted - it just sounds like some of you would rather enjoy slagging off our own players, who have all contributed to this season in their own way, than enjoying the fact that we are so very nearly back where we belong.
  4. Well said Fog, now''s the time to start really believing and get RIGHT BEHIND THE TEAM ON SATURDAY. I shall be metering out some right Royal punishment if I hear anyone moaning on Saturday. Worthy''s right in his EEN column - we are a good squad, better than most in this division on paper and better than all in this division in terms of team spirit and fans. What''s also great is hearing the players saying ''let''s go for it''. There isn''t anyone we can''t beat, so let''s be their 12th player on Saturday! COME ON! OTBC
  5. It''s the ''Where''s Iwan?'' factor - bang it up, he knocks it down, Hucks runs on to it. It''s worked against some clubs but is too easy an option for us. We must start interplaying between midfield and attack again. Francis on his day is an excellent attacking midfielder, and Mcveigh has had nothing to do since we forgot how to get him into the game. We play best when Hucks runs all over the place and Mcveigh/Brennan and Francis back up the attack. We should start letting Svensson pass the ball (that''s what he''s good at) and getting on the end of crosses. Too many panic balls are coming out of defence, and not having anyone reliable on right midfield is a worry.
  6. Very true - Svennson''s the type of guy who does well with crosses, but we have no-one supplying them. He doesn''t hold the ball up as well as Iwan but is much more mobile around the box, so lets start pinging those crosses in.
  7. Yeah -where is he? All of a sudden our team is completely lop-sided. Could it be any coincidence that Cooper is left sided? That suggests to me that Drury or Brennan are out for the rest of the season, because we don''t need another left sider otherwise. Someone should tell us the truth!
  8. I had a dream last year that we beat Ips*** 1-0 in the play-off final, Mcveigh scoring in the 77th minute at the end we were in against Birmingham. I hope we don''t have to endure that now, I''d rather go straight up, thankyou very much!
  9. I didn''t for a moment suggest Clint should be in the team - I just find it strange that some people are really quite nasty about him when they forget that he did actually do some good for us once. As I said, I think he''s with the wrong team - he''d be much better off like Daryl Russell, with a lesser team somewhere where his talents would stand out a bit more. We are too good for him, quite simply. As for Rivers, my point was that we haven''t seen enough of him this season to judge his ''effort'', although it sounds like he hasn''t been making any in training - hence not making the squad too often. If I was Worthy I would have reacted the same, because Rivers DID start the season making all the right moves, and we finally thought he''d cracked it, but after injury, didn''t seem to want to get back into the swing of things. Both players are extremely frustrating - they should take a leaf from Mcveigh, who started at this club as a player who didn''t really know what he was about, with no strength and not a lot of pace, but has worked incredibly hard to be what he is now.
  10. Why does everyone get on Rivers'' back so much? I don''t think that''s very fair considering he had a great start to the season and since his injury has only played about half a game. It''s been the same with every right winger we''ve had at this club - unreal expectations. We all know Rivers is capable of some sublime stuff, but it doesn''t mean he''s cr*p if it doesn''t happen every single time. I accept that his effort needs to be more consistent but it''s really unfair to suggest, on this season''s performances (and let''s face it, at the start of the season everyone was saying how he''d finally got things right), that he is useless etc. As for Easton, I''ll make the point again, as I have many times, that we should never forget the role he played in getting us to the play-off final. Talented guy, wrong team.
  11. The Police seem to think they''re in some kind of war-zone on derby days. I haven''t seen any trouble in years and yet they still treat us like animals. Don''t they realise that this kind of attitude is what starts the problems? At last year''s 1-1 at Portaloo, we were herded back to the trains and weren''t allowed to come out of the procession. (Hungover) I desperately needed some water, so tried, politely, to make my way to the main bit of Ipswich station to find a vending machine. Before I knew it, some aggro Scots Copper was shouting at me and his dog was snarling and foaming at the mouth (much like the Copper). I told him I just wanted some water and he screamed "I''m not asking you, I''m telling you to get in line." I politely protested once more and the next thing I knew I was shoved in the back by a police horse and told to move on. Everyone around me complained but the Cops were having none of it. I''ve NEVER caused trouble at football, but I reckon that was the nearest I''ve come to being provoked, and it was by the police! The sooner they stop pretending that a) we''re all monsters, and b) they''re really ''up for it'', we''ll all get along much better. They better sort themselves out because next season they''ll have some real threats to contend with and if they don''t chill out, Riverside will be trashed on a weekly basis.
  12. There''s nothing wrong with new supporters coming to watch us play. People shouldn''t moan that ''i''ve been a supporter all my life, how come he gets a ticket and not me etc..'' - if you have the commitment, you''ll be rewarded with the ticket. I got my season ticket for the last 3 years because I turned up and watched us play. It doesn''t matter who wants to come and watch this club. One thing that is good is how the New Stand had completely changed our support. At last, the ''do nothing, say nothings'' of the old South Stand have gone, and I for one have been really proud to see how vibrant the supporters in that stand now are, particularly in the section next to the away fans. Good on yer, it''s made a real difference to the atmosphere.
  13. I was talking to an Ip*** fan the other day who said that most of their fans are sick of Mr Potato Head blaming everything but his team. I think Worthy has been an example to them all over the last few years - he''s been very ''Fergie'' and just stuck to the basics when it comes to losing, or even winning for that matter. Gracious in both victory and defeat, even when it started to go t*ts up last year. I''ve been mightily amused at the amount of so-called ''top'' managers coming to Carra Rud and blaming everything but their own, rubbish performances (Messrs Warnock, McCarthy, Pardew + Potato Head for starters). All power then to Mr ''crazed animal'' (grrrrrr!) Megson, who was a perfect gentleman after the West Brom game.
  14. That''s not fair -the web Police have stopped me printing his home address. Maybe I''ll put it somewhere else...
  15. Pop to your local newsagent. Buy a ''With Sympathy'' card. Write "Sorry you''re not good enough, love from NORWICH" in it. Then you can send it to him: Mr F. Wilnis C/o ITFC Portman Road IPSWICH Post here if you sent one, then we can count how many are going his way!
  16. I think someone needs to tell Francis exactly what his role is. He seems to get caught between stopper and attacker and would do better to concentrate on one or the other. We didn''t get going against West Brom until he started pushing forward; that''s what he''s best at, breaking up play and moving forwards. It''s difficult if we are continually lumping the ball over his head, which we did much too much of yesterday. We must get this ''where''s Iwan'' mentality out of our heads and let Francis dictate things a bit more - that''s if he wants to. He needs to start giving 100% in both halves from now on.
  17. I don''t think it is - Anglia normally only get one slot for sport on a sunday and unfortunately that''s at midday.
  18. What''s all this ''if so and so doesn''t play he''ll be off'' nonsense? We are top of the league, and the reason for that is that we finally have a decent squad. They all knew that was the case and they all want to be a part of it. Do you think they''re stupid enough to say ''oh, we''re going to the Premiership but I''m on the bench, so I''d rather join Crewe''???? Thought not. Stop talking like a Binner.
  19. He''s quite right to say it - he was bought as a replacement for Roberts and Roberts hasn''t been playing that well. And he''s only saying ''I want to play'' - what''s wrong with that?
  20. Svensson for sure: he was great against the Binners last time and he has all of Iwan''s attributes plus PACE! We can''t keep relying on Hucks being the only person up front. Look how toothless we were on Tues before Francis started pushing forward. Then when Sven came on we were a constant threat in and around the box, which gave Hucks and Mcveigh much more room to play. We are in danger of becoming a one-dimensional side again if we persist with the old war-horse up front.
  21. Peter, you''re generosity is to be applauded. I remember back in the 80s and 90s when you used to look around the River End and South Stand and see all manner of colours being worn by kids. It annoyed me then, as it does now, because they are denying regualr supporters the chance to give their all. I''ve just had to put a £50 deposit down on a season ticket for my mate who''s abroad. He''s 961st in line! Imagine how gutted he''ll be if I come back from games next season telling him how many non city supporters were in the ground! Saying that, I don''t think there will be that many glory hunters who have actually got it together to get season tickets next year. If you see one though, point them out to all your mates and sing songs at them all the way through the game. Failing that, ask them to name our physio, or last season''s player of the year, or even thplayers on our bench. Bet that stumps ''em.
  22. Hey Wiz, have the veins in your forehead burst yet? Good to see you having an almighty rant once again... Some things to note: Ipswich fans think Anglia are biased towards Norwich. In fact, Anglia''s satellite van often gets pelted at Portaloo Rd for precisely that reason. It''s part of TV legislation that companies must not show bias towards the city/county they are based in if they cover more than one county. To this point, most companies will err on the side of caution and give their immediate local area LESS coverage than other areas. Hence probably slightly more coverage of Ipswich, as they are the next highest ranking team in the region. This season there will be more live coverage on Sky of City than the Binners. Most TV companies will assume that viewers have had a chance to see these games and will therefore go easy on the highlights and concentrate on games not shown live. Once again, Ipswich will generally have the lion''s share of that coverage. All in all, it''s pretty fair - each set of supporters think they don''t get enough coverage. Trust me, if we get within a few points of promotion, you will hear nothing but Norwich. Yours, The King
  23. And I''d like to add that I think that''s what Worthy has done very well; got rid of the ''dead wood'' who he knows can''t step up a level to keep us at the top end of the table. Let''s face it, out of all the players who''ve been shipped out of Carrow Road in the last 3 years, are there any we really miss?
  24. I''m not sure he would have improved that much; he''s been at the same level for several years - always flattering to deceive. One of those classic Norwich products that we get over excited about during barren years - looks good, just doesn''t get any better!
