  1. I get annoyed with the morons who keep singing "Going up up up" when there are still loads of games and points to play for.
  2. Nothing wrong with being realistic about the way we are playing at the moment, yes we are winning but we have also lost a couple recently. I mean no disrespect to Southend when I say this but no way should a club with promotion ambitions struggle so much to disptach a relegation threatened side at home. There are some tough looking games coming up and we will need to play well to win them. Personally I think it is perm 2 from 4 for the automatic promotion places now.
  3. Nonsense, if you had a foot raised high to lump a clearance into Row Z and an attacker that was closing down ran onto/into your boot it would not be a red card!!
  4. There seemed to be a lot of red cards yesterday, across all of the divisions, you have to wonder if referees received some form of instruction to be tough on any infringements. I thought the straight red card for Rusty was harsh at th time and having seen the tackle again on the TV my opinion has not changed. Whilst we were poor against Southampton the red card came at a time when we were just getting back into the game and Lambert was about to make a change. As an aside what do you chaps think about our penalty shout, I was dead in line with the incident and it looked a clear penalty to me, interestingly similar offences outside of the penalty box resulted in the ref giving a freekick.....
  5. The noice boy could not have been at the game today, the crowd was making a lot of noise, particularly in the second half after Rusty got sent off......
  6. Canaries to have their feathers ruffled with a 3-1 home defeat........
  7. I remember a trip to see us play Bradford City away at the Odsal Stadium, we won that day to seal promotion to Div 1, the fish and chips we had from a chippy near the ground were superb, coal fired range and the chips fried in beef dripping.....
  8. Good response Nexus, this thread is what this message board is all about, opinions and discussion, no right or wrong answers, and nobody taking themselves too seriously. I think your point about using the sin bin to rest an influential player is very good, and perhaps the reason that the sin bin suits the game of Rugby but does not suit the game of football..
  9. Mr Banana - I did not include Villa in my list (I was referring to the teams that play in the Champions League), and I am sure Martin would not have put out such a strong side if his team were competing in the knock out stages of that competition.....
  10. AndyWhyteUK - Early grafitti, he was a little bald chap peering over a wall with a slogan that always began "Wot No". Gunnys head looks like Chad, hence the post from Rudolph Hucker.
  11. AndyWhyteUK, one word for you...."Chad" (And I do not mean the country)
  12. You only did 99 lines, "Rudolph Hucker stand on your chair this instant"..
  13. We could also extend it to naughty ball boy/girls, fail to get the ball back into play quick enough, make them stand on a chair, facing the crowd, why stop there though, lets punish all naughtiness, naughty majority shareholders could be made to stand on the "Geoffrey Watling Naughty Chair", which is placed in the centre circle at half time....
  14. Nexus - If a team has 2 players in the "bin" their team will suffer the consequences there and then, which may result in players thinking twice about their behaviour. The yellow card in football is no real deterent in that even if a player collects a few and is suspended, the team will still have 11 players on the pitch. With a "sin bin" (or "naughty step") the punishment is potentially instantaneous and is meted out in the game that the offence takes place.
  15. Good post Evil Monkey and I agree with the sentiments of Rudolph. The truth of the matter is the the Champions Plus The Teams That Came Second, Third and Fourth League is the be all and end all for the likes of Man Utd, Chelsea etc. The FA Cup means absolutely sod all to them, the irony is that despite this it will be two Premier League clubs contesting the final and one of those is likely to be Chelsea....
  16. Good idea Rude Old, wouldn`t MOTD be great if we got "Rooney has been sent to the Naughty Step for calling the referee a tw@t"..
  17. Having watched a gala of sport over the weekend, flicking channels between rugby and football, I was taken by how much respect the rugby players give the ref as opposed to how little respect football players give the ref. In Rugby Union what the ref says goes, whereas in football the norm appears to be to get right into the refs face and query every decision. I wonder if the introduction of a "sin bin" would sort this problem out, back chat to the officials and you spend 10 minutes in the sin bin, do it twice and you get sent off. The only down side I can see is that Rusty and Horse would spend more time in the bin than on the pitch!!....
  18. Essex White is a Binner, no self respecting Leeds fan would post without using the "F" word.....
  19. Agree with the OP but would argue that talk of automatic promotion is also premature, there are lots of games left and anything can happen between now and the end of the season.
  20. Agree that we should not panick, however whilst it is good to look back the important statistic is how well we do in our remaining games, we need to bounce back against Brighton as the game at home to Southampton will not be easy, I would not want us to go from such a good run to no wins in three.....
  21. I agree with the OP in as much as I thought we would lose today (Check the prediction thread), but I am glad that nobody really took advantage of the defeat and I hope that we bounce straight back at Brighton next week as I believe the game against Southampton will be a tough one. And no I am not rich as I would nver bet on my team losing and I got the score wrong (I said 2-0).....
