1. Good point mind, was just expecting more from redders when he came on against tired legs. Glad VOO got on the pitch at last as well.
2. It''s not even a loss of pace, Redmond just wasn''t offering anything, he isn''t making moves off the ball into space or marking and then when he gets it just looks to pass instead of taking people on... It''s almost like he''s lost all confidence in his ability.
3. Has Redmond just played a full match? He either looks knackered or uninterested, hes just ambling about watching the game...
4. Did we not try to crack the far east market when Proton took us over to Malaysia? I can remember a friend was on his honeymoon there at the time so I have a picture somewhere of a Darren Huckerby standee outside a random bar in KL.
5. ICF - to address the potential ulterior motives: Cardiff - Bought by a far eastern billionaire with aspirations of moving them up the leagues and leveraging that to increase his exposure on a worldwide scale (just look how he acted when they got promoted), Blackburn - bought by Indian multi millionaires (or more?) as a cheap entry into the richest league in the world who they had probably been convinced were a bigger club than they are as they are one of only 5 teams to win the Premier League and also allegedly under the misapprehension that there was no relegation Hull - Bought by a local business man to save them from bankruptcy, that local businessman just happens to have been born in Egypt but has lived in Hull for over 20 years Fulham - Which wealthy owner do you want, Al Fahed who bought them as an ostentatious play thing as they were his local football team and p1ss cheap or the American who owns other sports teams and was buying an established London based premiership club So, why would we be less desirable, well we''re not in London, have very little ''history'' and aren''t on the verge of bankruptcy, all we need is a mentalist like Tan and we''d be rocking!
6. ICF - I won''t quote your post here but Southampton are technically owned by a trust which was left by the former owner (Marcus Liebbhur?) with something like £1bn, his daughter runs the trust but has not actually invested any of her own money, it is what was left by the estate of her late father who absolutely loved the club so I think they are in a pretty unique position finances wise. As for the Stephen Fry discussion, whilst we as fans don''t see that much from him surely his greatest strength is going to be in working contacts and schmoozing people, be it players, agents or potential investors so his true worth will be under our radar and really come into its own should we obtain additional investment.
7. I blame Parma, ever since he started posting detailed and insightful comments (and we got promoted) we''ve become the standard go-to for Italian press reports making up stories.
8. As others have said the main advantage of cat 1 is the being able to get youngsters from further afield but also being able to get them at a younger age. It will take longer than a few years to see the true benefit of it but we already are seeing some of the benefit by having 16 yr olds playing in that u21 European cup thingy and more than holding their own against the European teams.
9.
NFL has no relegation and that is the way we will ultimately go. We see Amaericans getting more and more interested in the EPL and wanting to invest, albeit a 25% investment in Bournmouth but there will be more to come. The more money that is poured into the EPL the less likely it is that promoted sides will have any chance of survival, eventually we will see the three that come up being the three that go down, after a few seasons of that there will be more acceptance of no relegation, "what will be the point"? The more money you pour into your top league the invevitability of no regulation increases. Do we want to be in that top eschelon, that''s another question, I suspect most fans probably would, that being the case we need big investment now. For me I''m not sure if I would want to be in the EPl NFL, but that''s just my personal view.
The difference though VanWink, is that the NFL has mechanisms in place to keep the teams equal, without a draft a closed league would just get more and more polarised and there would be no real competition beyond the champions league fight. It might make it more tempting for big investors to buy the lower placed clubs, but without astronomical amounts of money to fritter away and FFP being removed that wouldn''t be enough to move a club into contention...
10.
I have sympathy for Gary Hooper. He was courted for a considerable time before being transferred here for a significant fee. He happened to come here at a time when his skill set just didn''t fit in with the manager''s philosophy. If I''m not mistaken, did he still manage to score 8 goals that season? He''s been unlucky with injuries during his time here too, he''s never really had a good clean run of fitness. Not sure if he can be effective up top on his own at Premiership level but I believe he has enough to play some part at this level, maybe alongside a targetman or some sort of a no. 10 role. I wonder does he regret signing for Norwich because he was having a good solid goalscoring career up to that point. Hopefully he gets a good run of fitness, a good run of games and starts banging them in again
But Paddy, as I''m sure Jamae would tell you, he only actually scored one that counts, the others were all either penalties or accidental ;)
11. You are City 1st and I claim my ten pounds...
12. Just to point out STAN, but not everyone drives a modern car with modern braking systems and safety features. Also, not everyone has had modern driver training so the Highway Code is one of the few instances where catering to the lowest common denominator makes sense!
13. I can remember seeing something at the time about a 25% pay reduction but not sure if that was what was offered or what was being requested.
14.

I like your style Purple. You write things better than I do.I was about to question how unbothered Gainer was about the poor 8 year old girl shot dead by an 11 year old boy.
Hogesar, yes, I look forward to Gainer claiming this 11-year-old was an obvious psychopath who should have been safely locked away in a mental hospital years ago...Carrying on from my statistics, the point (assuming the reports are basically true) is that only in America would an 11-year-old be so familiar with guns and their use and misuse AND be able just to go indoors and pick one up that they would settle a childish tiff that way. And seemingly think that quite natural.
And let''s not forget that this is also a country where some parents actively encourage their children to shoot an UZI, a weapon that in no way shape or form can be justified for anything other than acts of indiscriminate killing due to it''s uncontrollable lack of accuracy: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-28948946 http://www.nbcnews.com/id/27399337/ns/us_news-life/t/boy-accidentally-kills-self-gun-show/
15.

The NRA and its varied supporters.
Once again, the image that certain groups such as the NRA and the Tea Party give off is not what the majority of Americans think or believe.
Unfortunately though ANF it doesn''t matter what the majority of Americans think or believe due to the messed up political system over there, two senators representing just over half a million people (Wyoming) have the same sway as the two representing >38million (California). You look at general political support in the states, the edges are blue, the middle is red, most people live in the blue yet they have less say in the house of representatives than the GOP supporting, sparsely populated hinterlands of the mid west. When you are also looking at who actually votes and more importantly who the activists are then look no further than the tea party and the right wing extremists supported by lobby groups such as the NRA (And don''t get me started on the power of lobbyists in the states, yes it''s bad here, but nowhere near as bad as in the states where the government actively supress investment in research into the causes of gun violence under pressure from the right wing nutjobs). In summary, yes, most Americans don''t support or think like nutjobs, unfortunately the nutjobs hold far more power than they should...
16.

Wouldn''t want Norwich to leave the Carra it''s a proper ground with character. The river end needs refurbishment and a new stand at the city stand and that will do us for the next couple of decades
There isn''t a financial case for re-development of Carrow Road. If a new City stand was to cost £30 million for example and that provided 6000 increase in capacity all sold as season tickets for an average £450 per season say than the increase in ticket sales would be £2.7 million per season which is a payback of around 11 years. If we stay in the Premier League this extra revenue is going to be peanuts compared to the TV revenues of £100 million plus assuming all the tickets are sold. Expansion of the ground has, on this basis, doesn''t seem attractive. Should we be relegated then the extra revenue becomes a bigger percentage of turnover assuming season ticket sales remain at the 26000 level based on all the extra capacity being sold or sold as casual tickets. Now the risk would be that we could maintain support at that level.
If ground expansion makes so little financial sense then why are Chelsea looking to drop half a billion pounds on increasing the capacity of Stamford Bridge? Granted they are going from 41k -> 60k but even on a per seat basis they are paying over £26000 per seat compared to our mere £5000, I can''t believe that they earn over 5x the amount of revenue per seat to us.
17. I think you''ve missed off a type. I would probably be classed by yourself as a Tourist due to my infrequant posting (<1 post per fortnight on average) but I visit the site at least once a day and read almost all of the threads. The thing is though I can''t be bothered getting involved in petty squabbling so don''t join into threads where it is obvious that will be the outcome (well apart from this one) and don''t have the time to get to games (or even watch them on streams most weeks) so normally don''t feel that I can contribute to tactical debate. However, it is an invaluable resource for me to keep up with (some) informed opinion of how we are playing and what''s going on with the club and Ricardo''s match reports, Parmas tactical masterclass and the inputs from the fag packet accountants alone make it worth putting up with the rest of the carp...   I propose you add something for Lurkers to your definitions, something between a Tourist and a Supporter, maybe a Tourter or Suppist
18. ICF you''re repeating something that annoyed me on the MOTD coverage. Tettey wasn''t backing away from Coutinho, he was covering the square ball. He knew that Ruddy would have to come out and close the angle for the shot but with a Liverpool player (Sturridge?) running up square of him had Tettey commited imself to the run a simple square ball and Liverpool have a tap in. In my opinion it was the correct defensive decision and forced Coutinho to try and beat Ruddy, which he thankfully failed to do...
19.
"Run the least so far" "Best start to a PL season since 93" Now based on those stats, correlation would surely say if we run even less we should theoretically get even more points. WE''RE RUNNING TOO MUCH!!!! My point is, stats are stats, taken in isolation (like in the BBC article) and selectively (like I have just done) they''re pretty pointless and can be used to argue almost anything.
It''s just like the lack of pirates causing global warming!
20.
What does that make grefstad then?
A supporter perhaps? From sounds of things he''s been to more games than a lot of people on this forum and generally makes sensible and reasoned points so I''m inclined to let him have his opinion. My own experiences are similar that football grounds across the spectrum are less raucous and passionate places than they used to be, that may be due to gentrification, a change in the demographic or just a change in the type of action people are watching (more skilful and less full blooded) I don''t know but it''s a universal issue...
21. Was it really ''93!?!? Blimey, I was at that game (it was probably only me second NCFC match) sitting in the Anfield Road (family) stand, I accidently spat gum into the hair of the person in front of me stiffling my celebrations when Goss scored and then to my shame spent the rest of the game hunched forward in case anyone noticed it there! Despite the result the Kop was still in fine voice as the scousers said their goodbyes to it...
22. That looks awfully familiar winky, I wonder where I might have seen that before... As for remi, is that not at least three? First league match of the season, this match and i thought he got many plaudits for his performance in the league cup against boro which went to extra time...
23. We made them look a lot better than they were, we couldn''t cope with their wingers and couldn''t even make simple passes in the first 15 minutes. Bad day at the office but as long as this is the exception rather than the norm I can live with it...
24. Now I see what baggies fans were on about with wisdom, goes cantering forwards we lose the ball and then he saunters back arriving after the attack has practically finished!
