  1. According to wiki yes, but he started his centre half career early on at Cambridge: "In August 1988, he joined Cambridge United on a free transfer,[5] as a centre-forward, which had been his position at Norwich City. However, due to injuries he had to make a number of appearances at centre-half" So I guess I'm misremembering....
  2. Was Dion Dublin not originally a CB at youth level then moved up front (like C. Sutton)?
  3. Solsjkaer was happy being a career long super sub ..
  4. You've hit the nail on the head there nutster. Big strong strikers bully players all the way through youth and usually fallback on the easy option of their greater physical stature, it then takes them time to adjust to not being the biggest and the quickest on the pitch and it takes a fundamental mindshift to not fallback on that when things aren't going well. Hopefully this is the start of idah using the skills which give him the chance to be a real, long term, success as a footballer....
  5. If you want to preserve it then you should be able to request a copy of the video under data protection act. Provide the date time and location and request all video of you. They are allowed charge a nominal processing fee, but it must be justifiable and it is legally limited, I'm just not sure what the limit is these days...
  6. Interestingly (in the loosest sense of the word) I believe man Utd are the only football league team that Carlisle have never played in a league match as they were relegated from the top flight for the one season that Carlisle were up there...
  7. As I stated above, the situation both on and off the field is wildly different so you're comparing apples to oranges. The Carlisle owners wanted a quick sale as they needed it to happen like that and have made no secret of the fact they were desperate for someone to come and take it off their hands .. I just hope that the Americans are realistic in their expectations.
  8. Even if it does lead to success he doesn't. Carlisle have been in financial difficulty for ages and have changed ownership 4 or 5 times in the last 20 years and the owners have been looking for new owners for a while. The fact they got promoted last season was a something of a miracle and they need the cash to invest in January if they are to have any chance of survival this season so there was much more of an incentive to get this finished quickly.
  9. I did not know that there was such a thing as an Australian Kiwi until now... they sound an eminently more sensible animal than their NZ cousin......
  10. You'd get arrested for that, they're a protected species!
  11. Only it wasn't the FA it was the premier League that voted against it due to overriding self interests. The most surprising thing here is that they got 13 votes in favour as more than 7 club owners have interests elsewhere...
  12. Was this not bubbling under the surface when we signed him? Had he just hadn't been back to Korea until now to be questioned? I can't believe there are no puns about he size of his Hwang though...
  13. From what I can tell this is the compensation situation: "Under 9: £5,000 per year Under 10: £7,500 to £10,000 depending on Category Under 11: £10,000 to £15,000 depending on Category Under 12: £15,000 to £45,000 depending on Category Under 13: £20,000 to £60,000 depending on Category Under 14 to 16: £25,000 to £80,000 per year depending on Category The above sums exclude any additional contingent sums which may become due." With the contingent payments being based on appearances at different levels...
  14. I thought tha tthe EPP meant that there weren't transfer fees paid for academy players anymore, instead it was a reimbursement based on the amount of time the player had spent at the previous team?
  15. Perhaps, (as well as what others have stated about his injuries at wet spam) because he was such quality we felt he needed to be played as soon as he looked fit, when really he needed a bit longer to fully get over his injuries...
  16. 28, anything else and all of the players need replacing with the youth team and we start looking for a new sporting director (keep Wagner though, he gets on well with Delia)
  17. Sloblocks, were going to go there on the back of a 6 game winning streak, beat them handily and start their fall back to mediocrity, which we will complete by beating them in the playoffs (not even the final) and next season they will be scratching around the bottom half again having lost golden boy McKenna to Fulham...
  18. Makes sense, I approached it from the wrong side thinking that man Utd had recalled him due to needing him to cover their injuries, not to treat his injuries
  19. I thought loans could only be recalled during the transfer window?
