  1. I think the general agreement by contributors to this board is that there is a problem with Worthy and/or the coaching staff. Of course, in order not to upset too many people, I must add the proviso that we are all very gratetful for what Worthy has done etc etc I certainly agree that Worthy''s team selections baffle me. Starting with the Blackburn away the team has lost pace and aggression. These latest results must be put down to the coaches. It is down to them and the manager to assess who is in form etc. The man management skills seem to me to be zero. The problem is that we all seem to have diferent ideas who to drop and who to pick. I just cannot see what this Jonson character brings to the party. Known by the Bury Boys as EuroSutch, just what did he contribute in his short time on the pitch. 1) rolled over in agony 2) committed his usual awful foul. End of story. I also admire everyone''s faith in Helveg although I accept that he may come good if he could keep free of injury. If however we go down we must get rid of him - he wouldn''t last five minutes with half a ton of thigh going through him every five minutes! Finally through illness I couldn''t make the Raebok today so had to endure the embarrassing performance on Sky. Why is it that numerous TV and Radio commentators can see our problem but the coaching staff appear not to. Of course they can only select with what they,ve got but why Holt everytime. Why Stuart? Why not Safri? Whats wrong with McSmall? Anyone other than the same one paced over the top players that dominate our team at present. We all have our opinions but surely picking the same side that puts in a poor performance every time is not the best way forward. All our fellow strugglers now appear to be much better than us in every way. Not least in entertainment value!! Come on Worthy - break a habit of a lifetime - do something exciting for a change. Go for it!!
  2. I appreciate your comments ''Notts''. I happen to be the proverbial optimist and think that with one or two loan signings we can stay up. What you must appreciate, however, that living in the area, it is much more difficult just to walk out of Carrow Road and think ''never mind- what a great finish'' For people such as the Bury gang it can be a complete nightmare. We have to look forward to Monday morning and an office full of Binners. These of course are the worst type ie the ones who rarely attend Portaloo and think Ip---- have loads of money and that Sheepshag--- is an accute financial wizard. Mrs Bury Yellow, please pass me the whiskey bottle!!
  3. For what it''s worth I think this is an excellent thread. Firstly I have always worried about Jonson (he even looks like Daryl Sutch poor chap) but in the last couple of games I started to think perhaps he wasn''t that bad-nor should he damn well be based on his cv. Yesterday, however, he re-affirmed by intial opinion of him. Quite simply he was awful. Where is this so called pace, where is this is class centering he is supposed to possess? He was at fault with both corners. I fear he got player of the month more for blood spilling than anything else. Secondly I feel Worthy did another of his poor initial team selections. After Villa how the hell did Mullers get in the team? The team lacked pace in essential areas. The three substitutes transformed the team. McSmall, Leon and, remarkably Holt (who looked unfit, understandably, against Chelsea Reserves). Suddenly the team had energy and pace. The eyes of Ashton and Huckerby, two class players, seemed to double in size. Suddenly here was a team full of aggression, pace and effort. Funny that - very similar to the team that got us promotion!! I think Worthy acknowledged the subs influence but the big test will be his team selection next time. Like a few on this board I do worry about the coaching staff. Is there anybody there other than ''Yes Men'' who will help Worthy with some good strong personal advice? If only Bruce Rioch would offer himself to help.
  4. Sounds like you''re lovely boy Daniel.Should think you''ve a fine pair of shoulders - show em off, show em off!Don''t worry about Deano - we''ll soon have him playing the banjo.
  5. Come on Grinner - Do you really want an explanation? If you do I refer to numerous posts re our financial position. Despite what some say on this board (with some relish I have to say) we do have quite a few bob to spend without risk to the long term security of the club. Don''t listen to Doomcaster, pick up the coded messages from FCR.
  6. Just got back from West Ham - (We were a disgrace by the way) Well said City Angel and Susie B. Take no notice of twosheds - he is obviously a binner, Guardian reader or BBC reporter!!
  7. I sympathise totally. PR? What PR? It is little wonder that the media, including the more responsible journalists look upon us as a small club. It is all we ever spew out from that department. If you want proof - ask any independent commentator which is the bigger club between Binners and ourselves and most will say --- Binners. I know it''s not true and if we had a bigger ground it would help dispel the myth but there is no doubt we could learn a bit from the Portaloo Spin Doctors. It makes me wonder if the ''big'' image we should portray could help with the appalling ref. decisions!! Still should be fun at the shareholders meeting next week. Just hope the board will listen to any positive criticism in a mature manner.
  8. Well done Aubrey. Made the old heart swell and brought tears to the eyes. No chance of leading an opposition to kick Blair and his gang out is there? Aubrey seems a great name for a Prime Minister too!!
  9. Why is it the binners always say they have more fans than us? Let me put you straight Lozzzzzza. It has been stated officially that we could have sold 35,000 tickets for every home game for the last two years. We obviously have not been unable to do so because of the capacity of our ground. We are increasing the size of Carra and aim to increase capacity to 35,000 eventually. (Some of us think we are too modest in our time projections but I won''t enlarge on that now - Do I hear cheers!!) Unlike the Tahn we are expanding in the correct business manner within the trading laws of this country. Unlike the Tahn you have increased the size of your ground on the backs of many local and national businesses risking redundencies to the employees. I understand that should the unthinkable happen and you did get back in the Prem some of your creditors will get an increased dividend but even that will be only a fraction of what they are owed. In the real world of business, Tahn would have not been allowed to trade and been bankrupted by now. Jealous that you got away with it? You bet I am!
  10. Over the last two or so years it appears that me and the Wiz seem to be on the same ''planet'' It is fantastic that the Wiz comes out with these wonderful heart renching opinions which, in the main, are fabulously correct. When, however, you speak from the heart sometimes one does tend to go ''over the top''. As regular contributors know, I''m very guilty of this. This is usually on a Friday night when I return from the pub having had a deep and meaningful discussion with my evil blue scum chums. I suppose the difference is that perhaps Wiz has to face Lowestoft binners (EADT postings are a good example), I have to face Bury B....ards so  our feelings are much more intense. Particularly hurtful is the fact that we turn up at Charlton etc etc - we know that Worthy has picked the wrong side in the first half: Oh shock etc etc but as at Birmingham of course there is a miraculous recovery in the second half.  We also know that Doomcaster presents a stunning report on our finances (Yeh right) Amazing isn''t it that Doomcaster always produces wonderfully positive (sic) reports just before an important game. eg I can remember just before the Coventry FA Cup game a few years ago when Eadie was sold. I refuse to give other examples at the risk of being boring! For all those who think what a wonderful sensible board we have, I refer you to various quotes from players from other clubs who, as I suspected, do read papers. If the board give a positive response the players attitude is reflected because they do read the papers. So  how do you think the players respond to the latest figures? Reading the local paper in their lounges on Friday afternoon?  If you think they do not take any notice, then I suggest you have a very dim view of the intellectual level of our players. We all know that one has to look deeper into the figures presented but if you wish to look from a few miles above it all and compare to the Ipsh... figures, the national media will report that the Championship leaders have handled their finances fantastically well, built a 30,000 plus stadium and have a trading profit of 2+ million. Dear old NCFC?............? A small friendly family club that are making a brave attempt! Do me a favour! We all know it''s c..p but I tell you it damn well works. I just hope the players take little notice of the rubbish reported in the EDP today and concentrate on the fact that we are potentially a big club and continually under achieve because of the small minded attitude of our board. Yes you need a tight control over the budget but  just as importantly you need a super salesman at the front of any business promoting the positive. Positive? I don''t think the club knows the meaning of the word!! Hopefully before I die we have a truly dynamic business set up running the club. Does anybody realise out there  that we have a fantastic supporter base? I watched the Arsenal reserve game from the Jarrold Stand and realised that it''s pathetic that we obviously  cannot sell advertising space from the boards in front of the stand!! Unbelievable! Now - as with all my other posts, I cannot be bothered to read the responses because most are pathetic! - but I tell you this- if any member of this board wishes to challenge me I will stand by my opinions and will be happy to put my mouth where my opinions are because we all want the best for our club. As in previous posts I will be at the share holders meeting - but will I get a chance to put a sensible point of view? Don''t hold your breath!!! Finally: I''m certainly not saying that Delia and Michael are totally wrong, of course I''m not,  but Iam saying that this doff capping grovelling is not healthy and that cross examination must be allowed. If anybody wishes to take me up on any points I hereby give the board ad
  11. Well said all of you (except two I think). Thanks for the clarity Camberwick Green. A forward thinking commercially minded accountant. I wish I could employ you but I''m sure you''re in high demand and I know I couldn''t afford your salary!! It really is heartening to read these, what might be described as, ''suspicious board'', comments from regular intelligent posters. I too have always had the feeling that they think they are dealing with country yokels. Do they think they can get away with stupid platitudes on the one side and hand ringing pathos on the other? Well if they do I think they are going to be in for a mighty shock. I will be at the shareholders meeting but it is a waste of time making any comment. I can assure you from personal experience they do not like any form of criticism and take any constructive comments as personal insults. Onwards and Upwards
  12. I have to say I''m on the anti brum side. I have been to St Andrews many times. The atmosphere is very unpleasant. I have some binner friends (sorry folks) and they have had similar experiences including Wolves - surprise surprise. We had terrible problems at Cardiff, particularly before the game when we had to walk past them to get to our supporters. It''s an unpleasant thing to say but they sounded and acted as if they were from another planet. As I am an animal lover that it is the only way I can describe them.  I was, however, really proud of our supporters that day. I was interested in ''Stevenage''s'' comment regarding Villa. It really is strange but I have never encountered any problems at Villa Park either. Not sure whether I can bring myself to go to St Andrews. Vowed that I would never go there again but........ the call of Y''Army may just be too strong!!
  13. Ah the joys of free speech. What a wonderful and fascinating game football is. Of course you are entitled to start a post such as this to stimulate discussion but I can''t believe your serious. I think you are doing a bit of stirring aren''t you? Hucks is not infallible, I accept that, but I really do think you are getting spoilt. Hucks always takes three of the opposition with him. He works his socks off whilst not being the greatest tackler in the world. I am not saying that he must never be dropped and there will probably be a time when he can be rested but in my opinion at the moment he still must be the first name on the team sheet. I suppose I am biased as I can remember not too many years ago when the likes of Sutch and Llewellyn were permanent fixtures in the team. What a nightmare. By the way, anyone think Jonson is a lookalike of the loyal(sic) Sutch?  Same gait, same heading ability-that''s another nightmare - what chance has he got poor soul. Why not go the whole hog and find a place and another chance for Helveg (Anyone see him against the Arse reserves? .... Yep! Exactly) No. Nice try Scum Buster but living in the heart of Scum land, the Hucks weapon is very valuable to us yellas across the border, especially when these thick binners try and tell us with a straight face they have no money problems at Portaloo Rud anymore and that we are in the deepest of financial trouble. We have to keep telling them not to take any notice of the Doomcaster. Now, there''s another worry!!
  14. Exactly right Dumble. The Bury boys will be there at Charlton having been in a suicidal state -  until about 7pm Saturday night! Anyone else thought how life would be so different if you were a Man U/Arsenal (etc) fan. Ok I know everything is relative, but there supporters seem to be able to stand up in their stadia and do whatever they want and they have so many more happy Mondays than we do. Oh I don''t know though - I love a damn good moan. Please Nigel no more stupid team selections, my dog is beginning to hate me.
  15. Really good posts on this thread with well made points. Must agree with most of Silver Fox''s comments. Certainly Drury was unfit and Hendo given the responsibilty in such an important game reeked of poor man management. I suppose Worthy is still on a learning curve and still makes some wierd decisions. Thank God Sutch wasn''t on the bench!  In Worthy''s defence, he has got a mind boggling board behind him!!
  16. I agree King. We were driving home and listening to Simon Charlton''s intelligent comments. Indeed, it was very worrying. It is obvious he feels that we lack one decent striker. He was lavish in his praise of Dickov and almost implied we should have been after him in the close season. (£100,000.00 signing on fee and who cares how much his wages were?) It is obvious all of us are really sick after Saturday and for the first time I really fear for us retaining our place in the premiership next year. The class players in our team must be worrying when they see the likes of Hendo chosen before experienced team members. No; Worthy has to hold his hands up and admit he has made some seriously bad decisions over the last few weeks, but overall it is not his fault. He knows who he wants but the board has failed to back him. At this stage of the season he cannot publicly criticise the board but I think the have ''done the dirty'' on him and I think the truth will come out within the next two months. I have always advocated that our board has the ''Uriah Heep'' attitude ''being ever so ''umble'' with the Doomcaster utterings of ''we can''t afford anything unless the supporters cough up'' blah blah blah. Well folks it''s all coming home to roost. I for one shall be at the shareholders meeting and will try to get answers on some mystery actions since June this year. I know from personal experience this board does not like constructive criticism and reacts in a not too kindly way, but me and my chums will give it a go! By the way; if any contributor on this board works for a company that allows a jumped accountant to talk to the press with such mononitous negativity every week and that company is a success please let me know. Why does Mr Doncaster come out with such gloom hours before an important game. It really is so frustrating. With an intelligent man like Simon Charlton, he must read the mutterings of Doomcaster on a Friday or Saturday and despair. I know I do. I guarantee one thing. If the nightmare becomes reality and the binners are promoted, their supporters will not have to wait for signings and when announced have to say '' Oh who is he?'' ''Who does he play for?'' etc etc. I tell you all, it''s a bloody terrible experience living in Suffolk. These boys believe all that comes out of Portaloo Road. It''s crap but it makes them feel good. Crap comes out of Carrow Road but without the same result!! Please, please don''t let''s have replies about Leeds, Ipswich et al. Noboby with similar opinions to mine are advocating anything like the risks that those clubs did.... and you damn well know it! All those years to get back to the Premiership and we haven''t even given it a bit of a go. If anyone on this message board thinks we are the smallest club in the league and are doing our best despite a terrible deficit, I suggest they go to a decent accountant, show them the clubs accounts and ask them what they think. They could be in for a shock and rather wish they were in the major shareholders shoes!
  17. This has been, indeed, yet another marvellous bit of PR put out from Binnerland (or should that be Nevernever Land). I agree with all comments but must question our local TV stations who seem to put out verbatim what is written by the Tahn PR department. Where has all the investigative journalism gone? Surely they should have been asking the questions Mello Yello and others are asking. Whilst it is disgusting the bile and lies that come out of the Suffolk village you have to credit them with a fantastic PR and I can assure you it works 100% on their supporters. It''s not their way to allow the Chief Executive to tell the dreadful home truths. His utterings are strongly monitored on the few occasions he is let loose on the media. vix Doomcaster - compare and discuss! That is the one and only lesson we could learn from our destitute neighbours.
  18. What a great thread..... still! Being a young(sic) executive I find I am away for most week days. Imagine the joy to come back and find time to go on my favourite site and see the thread continuing. Wizzo? I agree with your musical appreciations I would add Saxon to my musical delights. Oh what a give away!!  I''m sure we were blood brothers in a previous life. Guess how old Iam? errrr 66? B....off I''m 95! Nurse? Get the screens and... put your clothes on!! Back to more serious matters - I would just add that Yankee Canary stands out from all other posters on this subject in that he obviously does not attend games. Now, I love to read all supporters points of view but I really don''t think I could put across such strong opinions when I have''nt actually experienced NCFC ''live'' for a long time. Surely Mr Yankee you should pre-empt all your opinions by ''I know I haven''t been to a game for several hundred years but here''s my opinion for what it''s worth.'' Don''t get me wrong, I thinks it''s fantastic we have support from all over the world but those who live many miles from FCR should temper their opinions. ''Come on Mr Yellow - time for bed and you''re hot chocolate''. Coming Nursie ''I going to read a new book to you tonight - it''s called ''Positive Thinking and How I Achieved It'' by a Mr Neil Doncaster.'' Oh Joy!!! Night night everybody - Got to get up early tomorrow - Damn early kick off - Got to get to the Gunn Club - must hear Waller''s opinions. Now don''t start me off on that one!!!
  19. Agree with everything you said City Angel. We really do look like a very good premier side but without that vital cutting edge in front of goal. Oh for that striker and we would have gained another three or four points by now. A word for the Sky team. I think they have been really fair with us. You can almost feel them willing us to succeed. Blimey a non confrontational post - must see my therapist tomorrow morning. Nurse? Get the screens and put your clothes on!
  20. I am an Englishman and  of course an England supporter. What I have never been able to understand, particularly since devolution, is why as England we have ''God Save the Queen as our national anthem. Surely this is the UK anthem. No wonder the Scots and Welsh get upset. All sport or other representations for England should be portrayed with OUR anthem, whether it be Land of Hope & Glory, Jerusalem or similar. I am sure this booing would reduce greatly. As England is getting recognised as a seperate nation thanks to New Labour (although not intended of couse), we are finding the yob element is reducing. It may be a bit deep but a lot of this yob problem has been almost as a cry of recognition. A good example was the Scottish supporter problem in the 60''s. The media then bombarded everybody by telling all who wished to listen how marvellous and friendly the Tartan Army(sic) were.... and it worked. Gradually the media are saying it about the English, and that too is working!! I have been to many England games where are supporters have been fantastic. I have also been to games involving Welsh clubs where the Welsh chanting has been racist but have never heard the great and good complaining then. Probably been concentrating on fitting new sandals!
  21. Well! Fantastic thread everybody. Just returned from a rather pleasant holiday and thought prior to departing I had to post in support of the Great Wiz. Subsequently a fantastic response from both sides of the usual arguement Yep I admit I was/am Bury Belvoir (Jocular and sexual play on words there chaps). I totally respect everybody''s point of view. Hey we''ve all been born into, or for other reasons, brought into the wonderful family of this unique club. I certainly hate this personal attack on others point of views. Yes I do own my own business and there is one thing that I would never allow, is someone like Doncaster who may well be an excellent accountant/chief executive (or not as the case may be)  to be a public voice of the club. There has never been an accountant who has made a success of a business. A good accountant will contribute a small amount if he is really really good!! I do get the impression that the board do not like criticism. I have every respect for Mr Munby but even he was pulled to bits on a Talk Sport interview by giving the impression of planning to be relegated based on the ''Charlton plan''. One of the interviewers said, to the effect ''Aren''t you being a bit previous. Don''t you think with a more positive attitude you could stay in the Premiership? I must admit, however, Mr Munby is a first class representative of the club. This is this the heart of this debate. Positive thinking combined with selling the club to the rest of the country. Let''s give it a real go. Wiz and the like are not demanding reckless spending. If we fail it won''t be a disaster but when I think of the anticipation of the close season, what a disappointment it has all been so far. Cast your mind back. Worthy appeared to have made some shrewd yet cheap signings but we all thought the ''big one'' the decent striker had already been lined up. Unfortunately it did not work out that way. Why? Perhaps we''ll never know, but the usual outpourings of Doncaster with ''We''ve used up our budget etc etc'' is an insult to our intelligence. My lasting memory so far has been travelling to Liverpool, caught up in horrendous traffic jams to read the Saturday EDP that NCFC were pleading the shareholders not to cash their shares as they were so hard up. What a joke! What PR! I know it doesn''t mean a lot but I would remind posters that I have hardly missed a match home or away for several years so that may explain my ''miserable old git'' attitude. Not my words my friendly contributors, but the very mild minded and highly attractive Mrs Bury Yellow. For what it''s worth I think we will stay up. We must. It''s so great in the Premiership. OTBC
  22. Well done Uni I wondered how long it would take to identify the irony of all this. If the club had any control of when the ''Racism'' game was selected then I totally despair. Perrsonally? I resent being told told whether I am a racist or not.
  23. Well said as always Wiz. We now seem to go back in a time zone of last year. Can you remember when you, me and a few others were ''murdered'' for suggesting that we were a bigger club than the board would suggest and it was about time they splashed about. Shock! Horror! What evil words that we produced. How wrong we were. Out they all came to say that we were a small club and how wonderful Delia and the board were to pour the their millions into the club. I do not intend to pursue the arguments of that time. Only that us lot in Bury St Edmunds have come to the conclusion that we must live, like the rest of England other than Norfolk, in a dynamic area. As majority shareholders they sit rather well in a company that has valuable estate. Frankly I can''t be bothered to go through all the arguements again. I know that Delia and Michael love the club but they would not lose money because of it but perhaps I''m being cynical. All I know is, that the club is not run as well as it should and I really do think that we supporters who support then through thick and thin, home and away, are being taken advantage of. For example; take the under 19 international on Wednesday - It was a complete mess up! Anyone want to argue with that? They could''nt even get 19,000 in before the kick off. Why? Well, they didn''t have enough turnstiles open- that''s why!! Supporters were still getting in 15 minutes after the kick off. Those watching on Sky heard the bemusing safety message broadcast seconds before the kick off which carried on for minutes afterwards - totally destroying the atmosphere of the young supporters. Then to add further embarrasment was the Mr Carrow message. This was further confused when fringe supporters thought that Mr Carrow had become a Father - Oh joy!!" Perhaps we shouldn''t be surprised - Delia does support the ''right on'' New Labour, Guardian politically correct sandall wearing brigade. Come on Doomcaster and the rest of you - Remember last year - you took a chance (sic) and look where it got you. Just think BIG once again - it really won''t hurt you. There we are Wiz - that should start a few of our old friends attacking us again!
  24. Well said Wiz. I know you will recall in the early days last season you and I and a few others were lambasted on here for daring to criticise the board. I can''t think of one other team in our postion who would not have pushed the boat to get this essential striker we need. I have no idea of course what was said at the meeting but this constant ''we are ever so humble'' attitude must wear thin with the national media. You tell everybody that we are just a small club enough times and they believe it. Now, not only are we telling them but we are demonstrating that. I think Worthy has done a fantastic job in getting the signings.I know the jury is still out on some but I based my assesment on the assumption that we would get a new striker. After all this was essential before the end of last season!! I just think this was a marvellous opportunity for a major part of the jig saw puzzle. I hope I''m wrong but I really fear this period up to January. I understand we can still get a loan signing but am not sure. There was comment a few days ago that Ipswich always get a better press etc than we do. One major reason is they always give the impression thay are a big club, never mention or complain of cash shortages. We all have the same opinion on the binners but we can learn some good things from them. Finally for those who call those of us with this opinion, doom merchants (sic), you must remember we are all arden supporters. Some of us go to all home and away games. We just want the best for our club, be proud of our club and show the media we are not country bumkins. OTBC
  25. Agreed Blacko but I have heard of Daryl Sutch ................ mmmm!!!!!! A very good day to you Young Beard. Time you had a shave me thinks. It''s getting rather long I recommend a course of leeches and stop thinking about Abi Titmus.
