First Norwich City souvenir
Naturalcynic replied to Midlands Yellow's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Yes, I had the “pleasure” of being there that day. The locals definitely weren’t too pleased when that equaliser went in, particularly as I think it relegated them. I was with my Dad, sitting in the main stand at CBL which seemed to be where the majority of Norwich supporters were, but that didn’t stop many of them from being on the receiving end of a vicious kicking. Never been more relieved to get away from a football ground unscathed. -

Yellow and green silk scarf bought from a stall outside Upton Park in 1972 just before we were thrashed 4:0. -
Social media boycott views?
Naturalcynic replied to Greavsy's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
On a weekend when we will, hopefully, win the league, I’m certainly not going to be boycotting The Pink’un and similar message boards or NCFC Whatsapp groups. The reality of social media in all its forms is that some inarticulate individuals resort to personal abuse because it’s the only way they feel able to express their feelings (I’ve been labelled Tory Scum and Gammon many many times) but this is another of those coercive “you’re either with us or against us” moments that football has allowed itself to be associated with. The law already allows for people to be prosecuted for hate crimes against protected characteristics. Football should focus on football. -
For the oldies on here

I remember that. Pretty sure it was either Esso or Shell that gave out the badges when you bought petrol. Made a change from Green Shield Stamps! -
Quickest Relegation From Premier League
Naturalcynic replied to Crafty Canary's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Careful. We didn’t exactly set the Premier League on fire last season, and who’s to say next season will be any better? -
No 3pm kick-offs next Saturday

I refer you to the earlier post by The Real Buh. -
Watford and Bournmouth moved for sky
Naturalcynic replied to Greavsy's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Yes, left home at 5.00a.m. and got to Wigan about 4 hours later just in time for breakfast in Frankie and Benny’s along with hordes of other Norwich supporters who’d had the same idea. -
Main Stand. Have we missed a trick?
Naturalcynic replied to The Gingerking's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Without very significant investment from either new Board members or external sponsorship, I really can’t see it happening. The only way I could envisage a larger capacity would be if the Club sold the whole Carrow Road site for redevelopment and used the proceeds to fund the building of a completely new ground on the edge of the City, which is something I’m really not sure many would want to happen. -
Neil Adams in the currant bun

I don’t read the Sun, but as I utterly oppose the cancel culture espoused by organisations such as Stop Funding Hate, I might start. -
What I find galling is the inevitable jumping on the bandwagon of the tragic death of Sarah Everard by left-wing misandrists despite the fact that men are far more likely to be killed than women.
-
No, it really wouldn’t. It’s about safety on the streets.

O/T Coventry Back At The Ricoh.
Naturalcynic replied to TIL 1010's topic in Main Discussion - Norwich City
Shame for them that they ever had to move from Highfield Road, but I suppose the ground was old and had limited scope for modernisation. At least The Ricoh is easy to get to by road, even if it is rather soulless. -
Very true. No eggs have hatched yet, but there seem to be an awful lot of chickens being counted.
-
Happy New Year to you too.

When the initial ball through to Pukki was played, Cantwell was coming back from an offside position. As it was part of the same phase of play, the goal was correctly disallowed.
-
Very true. Didn’t we spend a lot of last season (pre lockdown) being allowed to have loads of possession in matches, but being beaten most weeks because opposition defences could easily stifle us in the final third, yet pick us off at will when they came forward. Statistical superiority in terms of amount of possession doesn’t always equate to dominating a game.
-
So why do we struggle to score, other than from penalties or flukily deflected long range speculative efforts? It’s because most of our shots are half-chances at best and despite all of our possession we struggle, match after match, to break down well-organised defences who have been given far too much time to pack the penalty area.

Type it in as large a font as you like, but the fact the PFA might now be trying to distance themselves from BLM changes nothing. Whether you like it or not, for many people the symbolism of “taking a knee” is now irreversibly linked with BLM.
-
Here we go again, round and round and round. See previous comments about the undeniable association between “taking a knee” and BLM, and also the undeniable underlying political agenda of the BLM movement.
-
Works at what? Causing division?
-
The logo of BLM was put on huge banners in football grounds, players had it on their shirts, TV pundits wore BLM badges, commentators said over and over again that the players were “taking a knee” to show their support for BLM. Just this morning Sky News had a sports feature which concluded with three separate images of footballers “taking a knee” followed by the statement “Black Lives Matter” emblazoned across the entire screen. Anyone who continues to argue that “taking a knee” has nothing to do with BLM is being more than a little obtuse.

Agreed. Sky News have just shown a sports feature which ended with three separate images of footballers “taking a knee” followed by the statement “Black Lives Matter” emblazoned across the entire screen. Anyone who continues to argue that “taking a knee” has nothing to do with BLM is being more than a little obtuse.

I think most people agree that extremism, whether left, right or religious, is dangerous. As has been argued incessantly, many people see the underlying political aims of the BLM movement to be pretty extreme. I accept that some commenters insist otherwise, but many also see “taking a knee” as being symbolic support for BLM, an opinion that has been reinforced over and over again by Sky TV and by footballers wearing that statement on their shirts. The BLM movement is deliberately divisive and polarises opinions, as continues to be demonstrated by the pages and pages of argument on here.
