  1. Makes you wonder if he plays due to the conditions of his Loan.
  2. We are currently out of this game and will go a goal down if we don't change it.
  3. We need someone to take this game by the scruff of the neck and a result is possible. Will someone finally step up?
  4. Buendia leaving a 2 on 1. Poor zonal marking. We look too loose atm.
  5. Yes. Very Happy Birthday, Lil. You're wearing very well.
  6. Japan risks losing the Olympics, sporting events face cancellation and the Coronavirus is spreading exponentially all over the world, although thankfully not yet uncontrollably in the UK. But in a scenario of a serious outbreak would sporting events face cancellation and if so: if mathematically, promotions and relegation were unresolved, would matches be played behind closed doors, but televised? Would a VAR version of Duckworth-Lewis be applied or would there simply be no relegation or promotion? Imagine the whining from Liverpool 22 points ahead but mathematically not Champions or from Leeds, looking odds on to finally not bottle it? But imagine the confused delight from Carrow Road or from 'about to fail' Paul Lambert? Of course, it couldn't happen, could it?
  7. The preparations for next season in the Championship should be in full swing by now. If Norwich City have good money lined up for our best young players then fine. We are going to need a lot of new players because we need to clear out a culture of complacency and entitlement which has grown into our squad and the funds will be useful. We also need to increase capacity and financially it will be the right time. Young players are inconsistent, only Aarons for me has shown any consistency and he is best equipped to move on. The rest need much more time but if they want to spend it in another EPL club's U23's that's down to them. I question whether they can knuckle back down here after being overplayed in the Premier League. I would keep Krul, Hanley, Zimmermann, Byram then sell, release and replace. None of our midfield come into the keep category other than those unshiftable on contracts. Then there is Pukki to keep. The loanees can probably all go. In reality we'd be lucky to shift 6 players in total but we need at least 8 new faces. It is about the Club. The Club goes on and very few are missed. Take the money, rebuild on and off the pitch and let's have hungrier players with smaller egos. Nothing to fear from a cull. Everything to fear trying to play a Championship season with the same squad.
  8. Teemu Pukki is a niche striker who had a side built to his strengths and Farke turned him from a perennial journeyman to a striker who gained national recognition and this so boosted his confidence he became a Finland talisman. Norwich City has any number of like players who owe their career upturn or development to Webber and Farke. For me, the best of them all is Max Aarons who I personally believe would be the only one currently able to flourish at another club at EPL level.
  9. Not only do players flourish only at certain clubs there is also a right and wrong time to leave one. As we now find ourselves talking about a host of our young players leaving at the end of the season the same thing applies to them. For me, only Max Aarons is ready for that. Justin was nurtured at Norwich and we sold him into the 'care' of Brian Clough. One million to us and the beginning of Justin's demise. Norfolk might not have been multi cultural but I never heard the kind of wicked racism which poured from all stands at Elland Road towards Justin here. He was accepted as a local boy who came through the ranks. I'm personally indifferent to identity politics but Justin Fashanu stands as a watershed in the game. His testimony is strong because he wasn't seen as a victim in his time and had to swim against the current. Activism can often be careless of diluting its cause and turning people off. Justin was much more than his colour and his sexuality. He was an orphan, a talented sportsman, a sensitive man and no doubt much more to those who new him. There is a message from Justin to modern young players about finding your football home at the right time. Football is riven with 'right place, right time' and is therefore riven with the gifted who never make it and the workmanlike who do. Norwich City now has the funds not to need to sell and a personal development structure which Justin Fashanu would surely endorse. Only the players themselves can now make the wrong choice. I wonder what advice the likes of Darren Huckerby give to finding the right club? The only shame with Justin Fashanu is that he wasn't able to achieve more in the game as his less talented but more settled brother did. We should have looked back on a long top flight and England career.
  10. I have no complaints about the goal. It was a moment of brilliance to win the game. Had Rupp or Pukki scored in our best chance we would now be sickened by a VAR decision to disallow it I'm sure. We had chances to score but didn't, it was a narrow win. Compare that to the disgraceful VAR riddled home defeat to Man Utd for example. I hoped for a result but failing that I hoped for two things, a creditable performance and an absence of gifts. Our players showed COURAGE to play football and I couldn't feel deflated or more importantly: cheated. I only hope that Liverpool keep up their efforts after winning the title to be fair to other clubs. I suspect a couple will get lucky results against them.
  11. Today's game against the most dominant side in world football is a free hit for a Norwich side odds on for relegation. There is no expectation, although some attempts have been made in comparing it to the Man City game. But there is a pressure for our players and pressure can be a positive thing. There is a pressure to play football true to ourselves which we did at Anfield and that leads to the next pressure which is to cut out silly mistakes and not contribute to the opposition's game. We need to carry on our style and character into next season and even more importantly into the FA Cup as it is a style capable of winning against anyone 'on the day.' The weather will not help us. Liverpool play more long and direct balls than us so that is in their favour. But Farke will have a plan. No one is laughing at Norwich City or calling us rubbish because we play the game with flair and within our finances and even though we have lost many times those games have entertained. It isn't in my nature not to want Norwich to win. I was gutted after that famous 3-5 game and confused at the praise because we lost having come back to 3-3. But today the gulf is huge, football is distorted and head says one thing but heart another. So I'm trying to approach this game with managed expectations: suppressing fantasy and hoping for some moments to feel proud.
  12. There is no margin for error with VAR because the buck stops with the assessor who sees what everyone else sees and those other analysts include managers who will criticise them either way and massive financial interests such as betting companies. What would you do? The VAR ref is thus in an invidious position not shared by match refs for whom latitude is given. The only answer is to limit technology to absolutes such as whether the ball crossed the line. Two to three minute delays are anathema to football as they create a vacuum removing such aspects as being vulnerable when you've just scored or hitting back in the emotion of going behind. I am also convinced Teemu Pukki has been negatively affected ever since his brilliant VAR disallowed goal. Pukki is quick thinking but not raw paced, he relies on playing off the last defender and starting his run early. He usually kicks to score just as the defender is making a last ditch tackle (you seldom see him brought down from behind as he is catchable). This very fine margin is vital to him and VAR has put a doubt in his mind hence his problems since.
  13. The only possible answer lays with Todd himself. He needs to find an ability to reassure himself he is hugely supported by almost all Norwich fans and that trolls might not be Norwich fans at all or else are individuals with their own shortcomings using Internet anonymity to sate themselves. Todd must have any number of positive mentors to listen to, it is one of the main aspects of Farke's management. If he is simply adopting the all too common modern trait of seeking victimhood then that is where he himself needs advice.
  14. It might seem counter-intuitive but it may be more likely we expand the stadium IF we are relegated to the Championship. No players are irreplaceable but the squad still has to receive investment. There is huge potential to increase attendances in the Championship which is a league suited more to the attending fan from no VAR to regular match times. On top of that enabling more families or groups who want to sit together will add a lot more. People will still buy season tickets on cost spreading but a large casual support is untapped. We need new changing rooms and facilities too. I have always railed against player sales but can take it this time to expand the Club. There are plenty of sides in the EPL spending so much to stay there they will never grow and will risk 'doing a Bolton' when they go down. Relegation would be sad but also a massive opportunity.
  15. This is a tough season. We needed some good fortune but got nothing but injury bad luck. But the Club and supporters have admirably kept their heads and will benefit from that stoicism in the long run. It will be hard to let young talent go because we are like a family but priority goes to the Club and its mantra and methods. Because of our yo-yo history and the likelihood that will continue I hope we invest further in infrastructure. We need a 32000 plus stadium to move towards our potential and serve the Club's social role by ensuring it is turning fewer away. How many Naismiths make a new City stand?
  16. The stunts scousers will pull to get match tickets, hey? Canadian Canary my @£se!
  17. Has anyone else read Peter Mendham's book? I really enjoyed it but then again I'm 4 months older than Peter so it was very much my period. Of course, it covers his downfall but it also covers that period when I believe Norwich City came out of the shadows with the charismatic management of Bond and Brown along with that fabulous Admiral strip. As Peter makes clear he will never be forgiven by some so don't look upon this book as his seeking redemption. Read an account of a local boy who was a top class player, undervalued through his loyalty, who lost his way when injury cut him down in his prime. Enjoy reading about Fashanu, Peters, McDougal, Boyer, Reeves, Suggett, O'Neill, Robson, Neighbour etc etc, or the controversial relegation, the promotions (we were yo-yo then too) and the League Cup win. Consider too how life can change in an instant. Its a good read.

    💔 EU

We have never been a good fit in the EEC/ECB our political view and system is too different to the rest of Europe which is also primarily socialist. We only elect socialists when they manage to dominate the middle ground. Europe is wonderful but it is tribally so diverse a union is doomed in the long run. The EEC is basically a mechanism to reconcile Germany and France and it was working until German reunification. Germany is too big now and German expansion has caused instability for 150 years. The Germans are great people but make bad leaders. We now have to work together for this country. We need to increase our confidence and unify. Brexit apparently made us a laughing stock. What it will prove is we are still the world's greatest democratic people and by that I include British people of all heritage who follow the ideals.
  19. It was: 'Duda's, Duda's day! '
  20. The power of Nil. These tense scrappy games are hard to win. Just enjoy the day, forget the league.
  21. Away supporters should be assessed on their health and physicality in categories such as stamina and verbosity. They should also be mentally assessed for qualities such as natural stoicism. Only the most blindly loyal and vocal would qualify thus ensuring better support.
