  1. A massive shame. There was a point a couple of years ago when he broke into the first team I genuinely believed he would go on to be our defensive midfielder for years to come. Injuries have really taken their toll.
  2. Haha. Yes we're normally knocked out by one of the giants of English football like MK Dons or Luton ages before we amount to anything that can be called a run!.
  3. Very true. Let's hope we do get to see him given the chance.
  4. The one player we all said we needed was a quality holding midfielder, someone able to break up play and impose a bit of steel and strength in that midfield area. I do still worry we don't have that.
  5. Some excellent points well made, @ged in the onion bag. I think there is a lot to learn from this season so far but much also to remain optimistic. We might not be having too much fun this season, but hopefully we'll look back on it as a step in the right direction in due course.
  6. I'd like to think life for most people isn't quite as up and down as supporting Norwich City, but judging by the last six months in my own life, you might have a point, @ricardo!
  7. It's tough. I think we have to be critical of how little impact the new players have made on our team. But then I wonder how much of Krul, Cantwell and Pukki's success this season can be put down to Fahrmann, Roberts and Drmic challenging them for their place.
  8. My first post here was a post suggesting he has his flaws, but as a coach I can't remember us ever being led by someone so capable of making his players individually and collectively better. That's a rare talent in football management (as Norwich fans we've definitely learnt that the hard way 😂) and we would be stupid to get rid.
  9. I used to laugh at my mates complaining about bad luck in football. But what else do you call the horrific injuries to so many defenders, VAR decision after VAR decision absolutely going against us and an absolute absence of any sort of lucky bounce, misplaced pass etc?
  10. I read a quote from Farke calling him fourth choice. Just seems like Farke doesn't have a great deal of faith in him compared to Todd, Onel and Emi.
  11. Kind words. But I'm afraid we're a technically strong squad that lacks resolve and strength in depth. I think we'll go down regretting missed opportunities that could have meant securing dozens more points.
  12. Just announced David Moyes. That's a strange one. He was dreadful for them last time wasn't he?
  13. The comments aimed at Delia on this forum are a disgrace. It's little wonder this forum has a reputation as a home for the most ridiculous segments of our fan base.
  14. Have gone from looking like world beaters to looking almost as dodgy as us! I did say almost 😂 Confidence is so important in football, isn't it?
  15. I’m not terribly fussed about investment levels - but I do think the players you bring in have to be better than what you’ve got. Sam Byram has proved an absolute steal at £750k. I suppose it’s possible to argue Fahrmann has given Krul the competition needed to push him to the next level - but I bet he’s being paid quite the wage to warm our bench. Drmic has hardly got a sniff and when he has he’s looked uninspiring, Amadou has failed to improve on Tettey and Trybull and Roberts might as well not be at the club. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I think part of our problem is not getting the right people in over the summer.
  16. I like the optimism. I suspect we are heading back to the Championship in bottom place, however. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that either. We’re a young side who will have gained a lot from this year. I think we’ll be a better side for this year, even if it carries on, on this trajectory.
  17. By far the better side over the 90 but inability to take our chances and defend set pieces. It's a familiar story.
  18. Not a clue. Don't know all that much about Leicester to be honest
  19. I read somewhere Bowen is off to Leicester? Would be a shame if true, I think he would be perfect for us here.
  20. For me, Pukki is the player we will not be able to replace. Any others I would keep unless obscene money was offered. Godfrey, Aarons, Lewis, Buendia, Todd would not be going anywhere without at least bids of £50mil.
  21. Totally disagree. Last season by the end he was as good as anyone. He started poorly but significantly improved as match fitness returned. As for "best ever" - not for me. I consider John Ruddy a better keeper, and that's before you consider Gunn, Keelan, Woods etc
  22. There are examples of last season of not being able to turn around games, though. And let's not forget that first season, which quite frankly, had plenty of examples of bad practice that were left unaddressed. My criticism of Farke is not the mistakes that are made but rather the inability to address them. Why not try man marking? Why is Patrick Roberts not even given a go? Why is Moritz Leitner "a genius" but cannot get in a match squad? Like I said - there may be good reasons that I as a fan looking from afar simply don't get. But it does leave me with questions.
  23. Just to start - this is not a cry for Farke to leave the club. I do not believe he should be sacked and this post is not intended to suggest that. We have had nearly two and a half seasons under Daniel Farke's coaching. We can say without a shadow of a doubt that he is good at quite a lot. Young players definitely get chances under him. Players definitely improve under him too. There does appear to be a strong camaraderie within the squad and I think his attachment to his philosophy and beliefs is absolutely admirable. But I do think there are aspects of his coaching and tactics which have never worked, but he seems either unable or unwilling to learn. As a young coach, I do worry this may limit his - and ultimately our - potential. Most significant of those is an inability to change a match. I'm not sure I can think of too many matches that a Farke decision led to us getting back into the game. I think back to Forest at home last Christmas - his bringing Hernandez on as probably my last stand out moment of him being able to do that. It feels to me too often that when the tide of the match is against us, Farke is rarely able to inspire a turn in that tide like we saw from Wilder yesterday. Our continued use of zonal marking also baffles me. I'm absolutely convinced that our vulnerability at set pieces is largely down to zonal marking. For me, it's never really worked and it baffles me why it's still a part of our match plans. I do think he could be more timely with substitutions. Now I know that against Southampton he made a double substitution at half time. That's the exception rather than the rule, however Finally, I also wonder about his professional relationships with certain players. Moritz Leitner is the most recent player to seemingly disappear down the packing order. You have to wonder why, as bad as we've been, Patrick Roberts can't get a look in too. I don't have a clue what goes on in training and if I did this might be shown to be unfair criticism. Farke is a young coach leading a young side - but in an age where we have been asked to show patience and time, I do wonder why we haven't seen perhaps the same levels of progress and development from Farke as we have seen from those players he has very effectively helped in their own development? Or am I being harsh in holding these views?
