  1. I accept we are all hypocrites but the issue lies in the statement Jenkins made about people of faith trying to do their best by pursuing a moral code. That to me suggests that non religious people don''t strive to do the same. As an atheist I find that rather difficult to take. There must surely also be a point where catholic priests who abuse children and have their crimes covered up by the church becomes far more hypocritical than most of us living everyday lives can be accused of.
  2. You can be an obnoxious bore at times city first. In my opinion you are plain wrong. Of course players move around depending on the gameplay and of course motivation is vital - I absolutely accept that. The point is that with two holding players the game is more likely to create situations where we have defensive cover in place which in turn allows players like Redmond and Wes to try and be more adventerious. In Redmonds case that means drifting wide. If you couldn''t see that our formation against Chelsea away for instance, compared to how we set up against Wolves resulted in much less scope for attacking play then I give up.
  3. What a pile of old pony. Of course formations matter. We look way more balanced today than we did playing the diamond at wolves. Partly because we''re less open but mainly because we have the players that suit 4-2-3-1. We get some protection for the back four by having Tetty alongside Johnson which in turn allows Redmond to drift wide and we are''nt caught so easily on the break when Wes loses the ball trying to create. Of course motivation Is vital and no formation will work without at least that but good grief. Words fail me sometimes
  4. Top post, agree with every word. Wouldn''t it be nice to log in and have a good heated debate about football now and again. Well said
  5. Spot on post. In mitigation we were missing Fer and Howson which took away some of our options but it was obvious before we kicked off that playing the diamond with so many lightweight players at a tough away fixture was verging on the naive. The diamond can work at this level (we''ve seen it in the past) but it is not always the answer. We looked so much better when Tetty and Lafferty came on and that was with 10 men!
  6. Please let this be true. So over-rated its not true
  7. Definitely a Center Half. Not so much because we are week there but because we are short in numbers - we can''t go through a whole season with just three center backs. Also center midfield for me if Fer goes as unfortunately I think he will. Again we''re OK with Johnson, Tetty and Howson but that''s not enough for a whole season. With all respect to Surman I think he''s better playing wide than in the hurly-burly of the middle of the park.
  8. Unfortunately I think he''ll go which is a shame as we would be worse without him in the squad. There is such a long time to go before the end of August - way too soon to be counting chickens.
  9. I agree its a little unnecessary and sensationalist but to be honest I don''t see that the question is unreasonable. For a start it is a question, not a statement of fact. Also, compared to the other notable failures that are listed, RVW is by far the most expensive and highly paid. For me Dean Coney was the worst I''ve seen and Ricky has a comparable scoring record to him. One goal in umpteen matches.
  10. We''ll said JF How anyone can decide that we should rely on a striker with a return rate as bad as Dean Coney to fire us to promotion beggars belief.
  11. So far we have sold Snodgrass and bought in the two strikers. How much are you quibbling about cheep cheep?
  12. Great news are far as I''m concerned. The bloke has been nothing short of an utter disaster and has cost (and is still costing) us a fortune. We simply cannot afford to risk another season of RVW playing like he did last time around. I saw absolutely nothing in his style of play that would be suited to championship football and personally I couldn''t be more pleased that he''s gone. Get rid of Bassong now and try and build some team spirit based on everyone pulling their weight and not thinking they are too good for this level.
  13. Regardless of where the blame lies for the tour the real worry is how much it will effect our preparation. It''s about building stamina, fitness and match sharpness. How much of that have we lost due to this mess up? Hopefully not that much as the three remaining games are more of a test.
  14. Not sure it''s that extreme. I''ve always felt you need two players for each position to cover for injuries, suspensions etc.
  15. Like all City fans I really want him to succeed but I have serious doubts that it will happen. After last years abject performances can he truly complain that he has drifted down the pecking order? I don''t think so. If the drop in standard allows Ricky to regain his confidence and the goals start to flow then I hardly think having a number 20 on his back will make any difference at all.
  16. Neither in my lifetime - after all I''m over 40.
  17. Agreed with the US and German anthems but not so sure about the French. I like the Italian one. Unusual to get an almost jolly tune for an anthem. God save the Queen is awful. Pretty much the worst around, both the tune and the sentiment. Land of Hope and Glory is much more suited to our history and spirit.
  18. Come on LDC this is all getting a little transparent and tedious. What this and all the other lectures are about is your insistence that if only the supporters had stayed true to Hughton and supported him through the tough times then all would have come good eventually. Exactly as you said it would. It''s a kind of inverted "I told you so". This lecture has the same theme as all the others. It''s trying to lure out the "I want Adam''s out if I don''t get instant success" comments. You can then come back (again) with "true supporters stick with the club through thick and thin" just like I did last season.
  19. I agree LDC that we have a better chance of succeeding if every aspect of the club are pulling together. The point you seem to miss however is that it is the art of good management to foster this. It involves motivating the players, good public relations with the fans, playing attractive and winning football, etc. When all these things are in place confidence builds and the rest follows and builds it''s own momentum. The converse is also true and poor management will produce a gradual downward spiral (al a Roeder). You really can''t go on suggesting it''s down to the fans to do this. We have a part to play, certainly giving support to the new regime is essential, but maintaining and building the mood is down to the club management.
  20. How on earth anyone can argue to keep RVW is beyond me. What has he done throughout an entire season to suggest he was not a total disaster? I can think of one goal, one top save from a keeper and a challenge against Spurs. That''s it! For a whole season!! Sure Hughton didn''t play to his or any other strikers strengths but throughout a whole season there would be glimpses. Hooper showed much more. This season is going to shape our future for years to come. Decide to risk that on what we have seen so far from RVW? No way.
  21. You can hardly find two different personalities than Royal and Marshall. I don''t see to many respected managers singing AM''s praises.
  22. What an unbelievable post. Pathetic. The guy has a good record everywhere he has managed, a wealth of experience, an ex-Norwich POTS and is trusted and wanted by our manager. What more do you want?
