ROBFLECK 134 Posted July 2, 2012 Nobody can get injured then...olympics, who cares?
Jacko 0 Posted July 2, 2012 But who realistically could you have selected. Howson, Ruddy and Pilks are too old for consideration. The wide options available such as Sinclair and Bellamy mean you can at least understand how Elliott Bennett hasn''t made it. Ryan Bennett could perhaps feel a little aggrieved as Craig Dawson has not been a regular at West Brom. But he has been selected ahead of Bennett at under 21 level and does bring nice balance being left footed. Caulker has had an entire season of Premier League football under his belt with Swansea and Tomkins was in the Championship team of the year. So is certainly at the very least on a par with Bennett who was recently at that level with Peterborough
Legend Iwan 30 Posted July 2, 2012 Talk about having a chip on your shoulder. Out of interest, who of Declan Rudd, Jed Steer, George Francomb, Korey Smith, Tom Adeyemi, and Ryan Bennett would displace members of that team? Bennett for Dawson maybe but otherwise I can''t see who would get in.
No, neither did I- was surprised to see that Butland was still there after what was said about players going to the Euros is all.
A special agreement was made regarding Butland when he was called up for the Euros - with his zero minutes for England he is hardly tired out and it''s not like he is first choice at Birmingham either... Really happy with the squad and glad Pearce didn''t feel the need to put a token Scot or Northern Irish player in. That would have been a bigger insult than not having them there. Interesting that the 4 back-up players don''t seem to have been announced though. The squad is a huge contrast in type from the team Pearce took to the U21 Euros last year - where Mancienne played in midfield and England tried to out muscle everyone - looks like Pearce is becoming more progressive. Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted July 2, 2012 Oh, Elliott Bennet is overage. I can''t see why players like Rudd, Steer, Smith et al should have been expected when they don''t play regular U21 football for England.
Skerritt 0 Posted July 2, 2012 Very suprised players like Rhodes Lansbury Zaha arent in and surely Naughton should go (I think he is still 23 so can go)

You see a lot of 21 year olds appearing in the England under 21s.

Jersey Canary 180 Posted July 2, 2012 This is great news for Norwich as teams like Swansea, Southampton and other teams probably going to be our rivals next season are going to have key players missing whilst the season is in progress! Result!
Jacko 0 Posted July 2, 2012 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OG8f5vv64v0Beckham shouldn''t be there for my money. But my goodness the dead ball accuracy that man has is still unreal. It was so good it miraculously healed the bloke on the floor here.
Bethnal Yellow and Green 2,424 Posted July 2, 2012
Pearce = Failure. Hope = Failure.
Say what you like about Pearce as his record is certainly nothing to shout about but Hope Powell is excellent. Despite the lack of a decent women''s league in the UK Powell has developed England to probably one of the top 3 or 4 women''s teams in the world at times. To be honest, if she had been given the Norwich managers job instead of CH I would have been equally happy. I wonder what makes you think she is a failure? Or is it just your total lack of understanding about women''s football that makes you come out with such a ignorant statement?
Legend Iwan 30 Posted July 2, 2012 The Olympic final is a week before the season starts. So no direct clash but injuries could occur and you could argue there''s less time with their club teammates.

Saying Hope Powell is a failure because she hasn''t won anything is like saying the manager of New Zealand is a failure because they haven''t won the World Cup. The England women''s team has largely had to rely on semi-professional players - who have to compete against professional players - the levels of success they have achieved is incredible. I imagine you also think Bobby Robson was a failure with England as well.
