Is McNally enjoying the limelight TOO much?

Recommended Posts

It seems to me that at any opportunity Mc Nally is doing presss conferences and interviews. I don''t recall seeing a cheif ex. being so involved in being the ''face'' of the club. Not just at our club either. It has been reported that his negotiating was the reason for Holt''s transfer request. He was also the one trying to convince Lambert to stay. As for Whitbread who knows. I always thought it was the manager who discussed contracts with players.I worry that McNally''s ego is getting in the way of our progress. He has been fantastic up until now, I hope he doesn''t blow it.

Or perhaps with the proliferation of social media meaning that nothing is secret anymore, he has to appear publically to be putting an arm round all the folks soiling themselves right now?The manager tells the Chief exec what he would like to happen, the chief exec then talks money etc.

And what if he said nothing. You would have people on here demanding to know what on earth is doing on. Saying that as supporters we are stakeholders in the club and shouldn''t be kept the dark. I am happy to see him coming out and fronting up to media despite knowing he is going to be asked some tough questions. He has impressed me a lot in the last couple of days and put my mind a little bit more at rest than it would have been otherwie.

A couple of days ago fans were whining because there was no news from the club. Now they''re criticised for attention seeking. They really can''t win......

I think the way McNally has handled things, over this difficult time, has been nothing short of brilliant! With all the talk in the press of a "club in crisis" and a "player mutiny" he has reacted through the press and social media to give the impression that there is calm and controlled planning behind the scenes at CR as they work to secure our Premier League future. If it wasn''t for him, I would be seriously worried!

In short, NO! He is doing his best to coprrect errors - eg Wet Spam offered us £4m for Holt, but refused to declare what two (much lower) bids they had made. Would you prefer that he maintained an absolute silence until everything was signed, sealed and delivered? I supect not. He is the only one able to correct press errors, - no one else has the information or the authority to do so.

Whether he makes a mistake at some point, I can''t predict. He is, after all, human!

Personally I think a lot of damage was done to the fans and the morale around the club because nothing was being said or clarified by anybody, now McNally is putting everyone at ease so we actually know what is going on. What''s the problem with that?

It''s called leadership mate and now''s the right time for him to be visible and communicative. When the new manager''s appointed, McNally will step back into the wings.

No way, I rather suspect that like the rest of us, David McNally would rather be relaxing somewhere, doing very little and looking back at how great the last three seasons have been and looking forward to building upon that success next season.
