TIL 1010 5,246 Posted March 30, 2012 You would have thought that with a man like Mucus Evans and all his wealth the funding of a Cat 1 academy should not have been a problem. His ambition was/is Premiership football so this looks like short a very short sighted and unambitious approach to the future. Mr Brownstone 0 Posted March 30, 2012 2nd rate academy for a 2nd rate club, with 2nd rate players and 2nd rate fans. Actually, that might be a bit generous.

They''re trying to lower the wage bill for this reason. Great to be a Norwich fan at the moment.

Syteanric 1 Posted March 30, 2012 but Marcus Evans has pots of money and is bank rolling their team of premiership stars.. how could this have happened!?

a1canary 0 Posted March 30, 2012 What a lot of PR spin bu***hit!!They write that up as "ITFC plan to apply for category one status" on the premis that should they ever get to the Prem they might try and apply. What the story actually tells you is that they''re not even ready for category 2! So the headline could equally be:"ITFC still to attain category 2 academy status"

[/quote]Yes that''s what i thought but i read an article the other day about them not playing Jason Scotland again this season as it would activate a clause in his contract for another year on astronomically high wages. Clegg was saying they can''t afford to do that due to these rules... So either it will affect everyone or they are hoping for promotion next year and europe after!!Either way i would imagine this has been a factor in the academy position if it''s affecting who will and wont play... Bill 1,788 Posted March 30, 2012 You would have though that the dimwitted rustics would have twigged what is going on by now.Evans has pretty much ran down the youth set up since the club was handed over to him. The top ones have left and the U18''s are currently languising at the bottom of their table well adrift of the rest. The idea that Evans would fund a much bigger set up is rather like thinking that Herrod would want to built a super size creche. The effect of this lack of investment will be felt a few years down the line (if not already) as the quality of players coming through dimishes even furtherRIPswich

Daz Sparks 1,558 Posted March 30, 2012 This is pure gold. Second or third comment in..."I agree - we have a second rate owner, a second rate manager, a second rate CEO, a second rate squad so it is only fitting we have a second rate academy....Lets forget striving to be the best - in fact lets forget all of it - plough up the training pitch, bulldoze PR, sell off what few assets we have (kettles, computers, bits of kit etc etc) - then we can all be satisfied with a job well done by Mr Evans and Clegg"
