CambridgeCanary 0 Posted August 30, 2011 There is a serious point here which is probably uncontroversial. Even those happy to see Cody leave accept that he performed exceptionally well last season so it is surprising that there has not been a huge queue of suitors seeking his talents. And the public links all seemed genuine, with comments from the respective clubs, as opposed to baseless rumours.
Legend Iwan 30 Posted August 30, 2011 How do you know there hasn''t been, CC? They probably just simply said "thanks, but no thanks." when McNaly told them the asking price.
ryan1992 0 Posted August 30, 2011 I think the figure we are asking for is pricing a lot of teams out. Teams like Coventry, Bighton, Palace and a couple of League 1 sides rumoured to be interested in him aren''t exactly cash rich, and there are probably more proven players at that level available for a simillar or even less amount. He did do exceptionly well last year, but it was League 2 and one or two games apart, he never really took his chance in the Championship (4 goals in 25 games for us isn''t brilliant, no matter how old or little experience he has). marvin the martian 0 Posted August 30, 2011 What about someone who won all their player awards playing for the Dog and Duck, should we be signing them? Its not about the amount of awards, it''s the level that you''re playing at.
Google Bot 3,995 Posted August 30, 2011 1. It''s not the level you''re PLAYING at, it''s the level YOU are at, otherwise there would be no progression.and 2. if it WAS the level you''re playing at then it''s nothing to do with the Dog and Duck anyway....So your point was?!
marvin the martian 0 Posted August 30, 2011 My point was that athough Cody may give you a hard on, I think he should move on because he can''t play at the level WE are at.
Google Bot 3,995 Posted August 30, 2011 Marvin, i suggest you stand in a room with most of our squad and try telling them that.So far, there''s no evidence to prove that he''s not capable. However, there''s copious amounts to show that he''s better than where he''s been playing. So, I think what you meant to say was:"I think he should move on because, in my personal opinion, he can''t play at the level WE are at."To which i could only disagree and it becomes a difference of opinions just like many other threads on here. The thread i created was based on facts - A point you''ve blatantly missed. Mister Chops 11 Posted August 30, 2011
I think what you meant to say was:"I think he should move on because, in my personal opinion, he can''t play at the level WE are at."To which i could only disagree and it becomes a difference of opinions just like many other threads on here. The thread i created was based on facts - A point you''ve blatantly missed.
I''m guessing the fact Paul Lambert is happy to let him find another club is the only opinion that really matters, and that he''s probably better informed about Cody''s ability and potential. So yes of course it''s about opinions, but not all opinions carry the same weight.Or, to put it another way:"I agree with Paul Lambert that Cody McDonald should move on because I agree with Paul Lambert''s opinion that he doesn''t offer anything at the level WE are at." Google Bot 3,995 Posted August 30, 2011 Your agreement with Paul Lambert is based on 2 possible factors of course:1. That he wouldn''t have been able to watch him personally play many games last season. ...Did he attend ANY gills matches?2. That there are no personal issues clouding his judgement in this instance.Oh, and let''s not get carried away, we''re not actually an established premiership team yet, and the vast majority of our squad is made from League one to Championship level players. With that in mind, is Cody really that far behind us were he to prove himself in the Championship this season? (At which point he would no longer be on our books i suspect)Or are you doubting his potential beyond League One football? ...Like many were of Holt, Morison and Jackson etc.?!
Gingerpele 0 Posted August 30, 2011 What possible personal issue could cloud his judgement on Cody Mac?And managers don''t need to watch there players to get the right judgement, they employ scouts to do that for them. Do you think Fergie was watching Cleverly last season?
Jack Barak 46 Posted August 30, 2011 I''m glad someone has finally grasped this thorny issue and put together a Cody threat, I salute you Sir!He is unwanted by the manager, the manager decides if he stays...ergo, he doesn''t stay. How can one striker signed from non-league who has been assessed by our back to back promotion winning / Champions League Winning (as a player) manager and has been deemed surplus to requirement...either accept that or actually show your hand and ask him if he is interested in dating you. Yobocop 1,475 Posted August 31, 2011 ''My point was that athough Cody may give you a hard on.....'' lol I literally laughed out loud.Cody has had opportunities to prove his ''obvious'' class and has come up short. Skijumpoffacliff - you are only trying to work the argument to suit you...one minute you''re saying people can''t say it''s the level he''s playing at and then you''re saying they can....make your mind up
