Sjb 13 Posted August 21, 2011 He was my man of the match. He was fighting for every ball, stopping play picking out passes, Just incredible we got him for free.
Nexus_Canary 1,206 Posted August 21, 2011 I thought Bradley Johnson was far better tbh ;)
Mr Brownstone 0 Posted August 21, 2011 My MOM too. First time I''ve seen him in a yellow shirt and I was extremely impressed. Looks like he could form a great partnership with Crofts in the middle if we carry on playing with 2 wingers.Leeds fans, predictably, didn''t do him justice. I am a Banana 0 Posted August 21, 2011 He was best player on the pitch today! He was brilliant at just standing infrint of jones for goal kicks, he will be playing next week!
Thirsty Lizard 3,215 Posted August 21, 2011 Was very impressed with him today too, as I was with all the new signings. Lovely free kick with lots of pace on it for De Laet''s goal too. http://services.pinkun.com/FORUMS/PINKUN/CS/emoticons/emotion-1.gif

Lincs CR 0 Posted August 21, 2011 Johnson was classy today, he''s surprisingly good in the air too! Won his fair share of headers against what is a pretty big Stoke team, think it will be interesting to see who is selected for Chelsea now
Stowmarket Canary (not Delia) 0 Posted August 21, 2011 And to think so many didn''t rate this signing when it happened!!!
dylanisabaddog 6,149 Posted August 21, 2011 I wasn''t expecting much as the Leeds fans all told us he couldn''t pass. I was pleasantly surprised - didn''t think he put a foot wrong. He looked far more comfortable than Crofts, who I thought looked a bit out of his depth.
HIT 0 Posted August 21, 2011 CROFTS = MOM everything went thou this guy always made him self avaliable. Was up and down the pitch like HOLT and im refering to 3 lungs HOLT. Good game today some amazing passing better than Arsenal.
canary_bird 0 Posted August 22, 2011 I think we can safely say that Mr Johnson will win more than his fair share of 50/50 balls.
Skittles16 0 Posted August 22, 2011 One of many strong performances today, very pleased with the way our wide players threatened throughout the game. As mentioned on MOTD their long balls across the width of the pitch were a real handle for Stoke.Could be that direct freekick specialist that we have been lacking? Shack Attack 0 Posted August 22, 2011
As mentioned on MOTD their long balls across the width of the pitch were a real handle for Stoke.
Lee Dixon is the best thing about MOTD2. You wouldn''t get that level of insight about a newly promoted side from the likes of Hansen and Shearer on a Saturday night. One of the most basic things you learn about football tactics is that you make the pitch as big as you can when you have possession and as small as you can when you don''t. We achieved the former by keeping Pilkington and Bennett wide and playing lots of diagonal passes to stretch the Stoke defence. We look a bit open when we don''t have the ball but that is almost inevitable when you play with two genuine wingers and is why we probably need Johnson and Crofts when those two are playing.Johnson impressed me a great deal and as much as I am a great admirer of David Fox he may well struggle to get back in the side. KCASN 0 Posted August 22, 2011 The brilliant thing about our squad is the versatility we have. Johnson was superb yesterday and I am a big fan of his, watching him at Leeds he always impressed me. I thought the squad selection was perfect from PL, as normally teams will play the same 11 game after game and I think that''s what Stoke expected. The likes of Hoolahan and Morison to control. Brilliant stuff from Lambert who has the squad to chop and change. Crofts and Johnson in the middle looks an exciting prospect. I was thrilled to see Chrissy Martin starting again and we got what we always get from him, a solid game. Running, coming short. We have soo many options. We finally have natural width in Pilkington and Bennett supported by the full backs. And I love that we attack. For the first time in years, I feel safe (ish) when teams attack us and De Laet and (whoever) are filling in! Bring on Chelsea!!!!! Johnson has to play and bully the likes of Lampard off the ball! Exciting times! OTBC!
