He''s barrel chested:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrel_chestGeoff Capes beind the ultimate example. Even carrying a fair bit of excess he could shift (200m in 23.7 secs).

[:D]If only those blokes in yellow weren''t in the way!

Cheers for photos.Obviously the Sky cameras don''t flatter him!

And how do you know he isn''t?

Professional camera operator here with the truth !!!Holt looked fatter on Sky Sports on the highlights because the camera was at a low angle.... The pitch obviously didn''t have a decent gantry for a camera & as you can hear with the audio the camera was in the press area instead of it''s preferred higher ground we would be used to watching highlights on.So his fatter image is down to the camera low angle .......  or he has actually put on weight & spent too much time round Delia''s.

I was there and thought Holt looked roughly the same, if anything possibly a little slimmer. I also thought C.Martin had lost a little bit of weight, not that he was carrying a few extra pounds in the first place, but maybe he has lost weight to gain a little bit of pace.

Preseason is all about building to a peak. You want players to be at their best when the real stuff starts in mid August, not now. This is the biggest season in Holty''s career and to not work his bollocks off to make the most of it would be unthinkable. Quite apart from anything else he''ll want to look his best for when he dumps his wife and marries Kathy....[;)]

Larry David you''ve still failed to answer the question - If he was out of shape do you really think Lambert would have started him?

If he had returned over weight Lambert would have put him on a running machine all summer and not let him near the grass!

I remember a few years ago seeing Dean Windass playing an away game for Bradford; right from the off, the home fans were giving it the ''you fat b*****d'' every time he touched the ball, and he did look pretty massive. After 10 minutes he scored, then ran to the home end and pulled his shirt up, revealing a perfectly chiselled six-pack, without an ounce of fat on it. It''s perfectly feasible that it''s just muscle under Holty''s shirt – as long as the club are satisfied with his shape, why should we worry? It''s not like Lambert would just turn a blind eye if Holty thought he could let himself go without repercussions!

Some sensitive buggers on here.

I love Holty is much as the next man but you can''t really deny he looks a bit chunky compared to your average Premier League footballer.

He does appear to be rocking a B-cup in the away shirt picture.

Not sure why everyone is getting so defensive about it, lots of players gain a little "summer weight" and then lose it during preseason training - I reckon the coaching team will have him up to scratch by the team they are off to Wigan.

So one of the best players of all time was a little bit overweight, that means it''s acceptable for our players to go around eating pies every night?
