morty 0 Posted December 22, 2009 Official site says Askou will be missing.I''m frankly worried at the prospect of Nelson leading the defence.
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted December 22, 2009 Drury would probably do the best job at centre back but we then have to move somebody into left back and I really hope we don''t move Lappin away from midfield, we need the balance he provides.
grantroederdisaster 0 Posted December 22, 2009 I thought Askou failed a fitnes test on Saturday morning suggesting he wern''t that far of full fitness? If Askou is missing then I''d either move Drury into CB with Wiggins coming into left back or put David Stephens in at CB!I wouldn''t want to upset the balance of the side by moving anyone apart from Drury at LB! Beauseant 0 Posted December 22, 2009 It makes no sense to make several changes when only one is absolutely necessary. I would play Stephens. "If he''s good enough he''s old enough" seems to be part of Lambert''s doctrine. Having said that CUSDP has said Askou will be ok, and he''s seldom wrong. I also notice that Lambert''s comment on the Pinkun home page is "we''ll have to wait and see", not "he''s got no chance".

I''m sure if this thread catches his eye he''ll make a quick phone call and update us all.
Tetteys Jig 830 Posted December 22, 2009 If we only have Nelson, then maybe Martin can shift in and we''ll have to plump for semmi back at RB?

That''ll balance it a bit more.

ron obvious 1,514 Posted December 22, 2009 Just in case there is any doubt, offy site says:CITY boss Paul Lambert faces a defensive reshuffle against Millwall at Carrow Road on Boxing Day (12.45pm). Withcentre-backs Gary Doherty suspended and Jens Berthel Askou injured,Michael Nelson remains the only available recognised senior centraldefender. It goes on to say he could be out for several weeks. a1canary 0 Posted December 22, 2009 If Jens is going to be out for a number of weeks, that makes the case even stronger for ''blooding'' Stephens. Drury at CB is surely only a one off needs must option. You wouldn''t want to do it more than once. It''s a bit like the situation Man U have in their defence. They got away with playing midfielders or full backs at CB once (West Ham) but players can''t do it more than once or twice before they are badly found out. Which is to be expected. If we''ve got someone who is a specialist centre back, then these are the opportunities to let them show what they''re made off. We gain nothing from putting quick fix solutions in that backfire. Hairy Canary 705 Posted December 23, 2009 Maybe some of the kick Doherty out brigade should have a read of this thread and wake up to the fact of how vital a part he plays.

ca 1 Posted December 25, 2009
Well Lambert is still saying Askou is injured so it looks like CUSDP is wrong for the first time ever!
He posted that last Monday morning so could have got that news at the weekend before then, could be that Askou had a set back in training on Mon or Tues perhaps. I trust CUSDP and as you say his info has always been spot on before.Otherwise I''m guessing it will be Nelson and Drury
