What happens on Saturday

Recommended Posts

What team should we pick for the Cup game on Saturday. My view is  that we should rest the likes of Holt, Wes and Rusty and save them for the League. We are playing so well at the moment that it would be foolish to risk one of  these players, who are pretty much the spine of the team. I would like to see Chris Martin start with Cody up front , Hughes and Tom given run out in mid field. If we do change the mid field would we still be able to play the diamond, perhaps Hughes could perform the front point role  that Wes does so well, who would do the Rusty bit? I think Cory  Smith might just be worth a try there, I  know he is a young  guy, but he does tackle well and has good vision, he would have to be disciplined to hold his position though?

And the FA do us for fielding a weaken side, I have a feeling we will play our strongest side in an attempt to get one of the big teams next round

Full team, try for the next round and the money that comes with it, not to mention the psychological boost.

The FA can''t ''do us'' for fielding a ''weakened'' team.

It is up to Lambert who he wants to play, there is no rule against us playing our reserves if we wanted to!

I think however, like it has been mentioned, we should go for it on Saturday.. We could do with the cash boost from a 3rd round tie against a bigger team! We could also do with a tv game, so the bigger the team the better..

There are a lot of games in this League, Tuesday night was very physical, I  think we are bound to pick up knocks,  I would prefer to rest our key players for FA cup,  maybe use them for the paint trophy so at least we get a chance to go to Wembly.

As our finances are so perilous we should play a strong side.  I agree with the suggestion of getting some time in the side for Hughes though and replace Ots with Martin

a team got fined for playing a weakened side in a cup game a few weeks back, so yes you can get ''done'' by the FA.

I was very surprised at how strong our team was against Paulton.

I''d personally go for the win but give some of the fringe players a run-out, like Whiggins, McDonald and Adeyemi.

I think he''ll go full-strength though.

you can argue you are putting out the "side strong enough to get the job done"

if we fielded 11 youth players Carlisle wont care 1 jot, if we win then what i said applies.. if we lose then that team wasnt strong enough to get the job done.

how mane Man yoo have never been done for it?
Without trying to read into things too much I think the substitutions we saw on Tuesday may hint at some things either way.First of all Holt. Lambert said that he had no injury coming off. Was he being rested a little for Saturday? Or was it to give Cody and Martin some more time together on the pitch? Russell and Smith are in a similar boat, both incredible for us at the moment.I think Lambert and the club take the FA cup quite seriously. Both money wise and for putting the name of the club out there. I would imagine we will see a couple of changes but I don''t expect it to weaken the team.Wiggins and Russell Martin would be good bets to start because Semi has only just come back from injury. Having said that he could change things about quite a bit and try and play a standard 4-4-2.Forster, D: Wiggins, Askou, Nelson, R. Martin, M: Dawkin, Hughes, Smith, Semi, S: Cody and C. Martin.

I think Holt was brought off because sooner or later he was going to get himself sent off. Not quite sure what got into him on Tuesday. Well it was their Number 6. I must admit I had a wry smile when as soon as Holt went off and their number 6 got the ball, Chrissy Martin came running over and put him on his a$$.

Someone suggested Smith a rest and give Hughes the start. I would go with that. I think it does more benefit to a player''s fitness to start the game and come off than to come on when people are perhaps already tired. Smith knows it won''t be due to form so hopefully wouldn''t knock his confidence or anything.

Don''t really want to see anyone pick up an injury but that applies to every game regardless of the competition. I would say Martin and McDonald up front with Hoolahan where he always is.

1st string line up all the way.  If it goes well, make substitutions early to give the bench some extra game time.  The Norwich game IS ON SETANTA so I''m gonna be watching!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oooh, gotta remember to order Setanta first!

Big team - in the FA Cup - are you serious?  A fellow League 1''er at best away given our recent history!

Lambert will want to keep the run going.  Look what happened to ManUre last night - resting players cannot guarantee you success even agaisnt the weakest teams you''re scheduled to play.  However if McNamee and Martin both play we might see a different tactical formation (Wes most likely to give way!)

Yeh ,we should play the strongest team we can, maybe be a bit more cautious with injures and not risk anyone who has a knock, but still we need to try and get as far in this competiton as possible and Carlisle have picked up a bit lately. I think Lambert will pick a strong team like he did against Paulton Rovers, even with the Southend game on tuesday

I like Chris Martin, he''s just about on his own at scoring goals from distance and he could develop into a really good striker, but I think that he is a poor substitute for Holty in leading the line. He and Cody will struggle to score, as Carlisle have a good defence - we struggled there last time.If you want to rest Holty, and it''s not a bad idea, give him half a game, perhaps off the bench. I think that we must play Hooly. Other teams really fear him and so double mark. This creates gaps for others. If we rest anyone I think that it ought to be Korey. After Holty he probably does as much running as anyone, and he''s young. Perhaps he can have half a match. or none if things work out well..If Russell Martin is match fit, this could be a good chance to include him, and if he''s not fully fit he could go on the bench to "encourage" Semi!Whatever we do, it is the FA Cup, with replays rather than penalties, so we must get at least a draw!

What happens on Saturday?
Generally, I don''t go to work, I get up late, I eat some porridge and do some household chores.  Sometimes I masturbate over pictures of Sarah Michelle Gellar straddling Alyson Hannigan.  About 11am I start drinking whisky from an old pewter mug my great grandfather brought home from the Boer War.  Later on I take all my clothes off and press myself against the front bedroom window and howl at the passers by.  By about 4pm I''m ready to strap on my...Oh sorry, you meant in the football.  No idea.

Hi Ricardo, this post by MC is a sad but revealing insight into the twisted and perverted world of a high score poster on the Pink`  Un  site, not really that surprising in the circumstances!
