ncfcstar 342 Posted July 25, 2008 For heavens sake please stop bumping old threads, it''s getting ridiculous, SuperWesIrishWizard, Bunter, even C.T. just stop doing it. I would hope Pete could do some sort of moderation on them, but nothing seems to be done. It''s boring, pointless, and not even funny.Stop it.

TheCardinal 0 Posted July 25, 2008 I''m sorry for starting a new thread on this matter and I''m sure if pushed I could have added this to one of a number of threads. However, I just have to speak out about this senseless bumping of old threads from as far back as 2003.The main perpretrators of this ridiculous activity seems to be the above two idiots. I''m not saying they should be banned or anything quite so harsh just yet, but frankly both of them need to take a bit of a look at themselves and stop acting like bloody idiots. God knows we have enough on this forum as it is.If there''s a valid reason to bring an old thread back up, then link it don''t bloody well bump it. This forum is full of rubbish as it is and decent debate is becoming increasingly difficult to find. This summer has been jam packed full of talking points so there really should not be any need to do this whatsoever. Let''s start cutting down on crap and getting back to making this the best quality NCFC message board on the internet.

Mr. Bump 0 Posted July 25, 2008 It''s one of my pet Pink''un hates. Another one of my pet Pink''un hates is multiple threads on the same topic.

As my login causes problems [ :o) ] 0 Posted July 25, 2008 Am I alone in thinking that the quote button is overused too?By all means quote the bit you are referring to but we seem to get some threads where one nested quote post fills an entire page up by itself. Buncey 1 Posted July 25, 2008 I agree Mr. Marshmallow. It really annoys me. I''ve already reported one thread. No excuse for it, and it really is just trolling. If it was me I''d see yer banned.
Pete Raven 276 Posted July 25, 2008 Think I''ve cleared all the old threads. If I''ve missed any let me know. Those responsible have been told to stop bumping old threads. If an old post is relevant to a current thread then post the url in the thread rather than bumping a post from 5 years ago to the top of the forum.

Surely if you''re replying to a post that''s directly above yours, you don''t need to quote it? Unless there''s a certain bit you want to single out.
SuperWesIrishWizard 0 Posted July 25, 2008 Pete,Why is there a rule against bumping? from the point of view of a moderator, why is this viewed as a bad thing to do?Im not having an argument, and I wont do it again as per your request, but would just be interested to know the reasons behind this rule.Thanks,Ry. Polar 0 Posted July 25, 2008 I''m not Pete but from the point of view of a poster bumping threads from 2003 are rarely relevant in 2008 and because of that they are considered spam.
Evil Monkey 52 Posted July 25, 2008 Did you not read everyone''s posts getting annoyed about it? Itspointless and if there was some comedy in it then I could maybeunderstand, but it wasn''t funny and it was taken too far...That''s my opinion on it, anyway... Spam is a term which relates solely to the sending of unsolicited emails. I havent sent any emails.

Unfortunately, since the format of the board changed, many people have joined who don''t appear to have the will or intelligence to join in. To make their mark they tend to play childish games either by bumping old threads or making multiple threads on the same subject. The result is that serious threads about NCFC are quickly pushed off the top only to be replaced by drivel.Hope that helps. Spam is not just email, or a repulsive food source. If I made a thread called "wiidjwdowodjoo" and posted "wushiudswsi" that would be "Spam"
