Recommended Posts

Stop bloody moaning Paul!

You more than anyone else i have ever met want Worthington sacked.

We haven''t signed anyone yet.

The squad is weaker than last year.

The squad wasn''t good enought last year

Add these together it = We will perform worse than we did last season, which = Worthington will be sacked.

PLEASE STOP MOANING ABOUT THE LACK OF SIGNINGS ALL YOU WORTHINGTON OUTERS!

''we''ll go with what we''ve got''

How long before this headline appears in the local press.

This set of players wasn''t good enough last year, how can they be good enough this year?
Who said they will be good enough this year? Can you do some of your copy and pasting and show us where it says that?

I know Paul seems to get under some peoples skin now and again but surely its not just Worthy Outers who are concerned about the lack of signings.

Ask Huckerby.

INTERVIEWER: So, Darren, final question.  Do you think it is all Worthy Outers who are concerned by the lack of signings, or just Paul?

HUCKS: Who''s Paul?

please tell me paul how many injurys did we have last season ?
Was wondering how long it would take before this cheshnut took hold.

One simple answer would of course be the boiardroom answer of some ridiculously high figure.

Then when you think about it, injuries to say Ryan Jarv didnt really make that much difference. Add that to the likes of Darren Ward and a first choice 11 was still not affected. Then you''ve got injuries that were not actually injuries (Ashton) and injuries to players that were injury prone before we bought them (MLJ) Take that away from the fact that no club had zero injuries and you are left with a figure that should have been manageable.

The question of course, should be how many games was our first choice seriously hampered by injuries? A heck of a lot less. Look at Preston, Nugent was out for ages, but they still made the play offs, and he was the top scorer by a country mile.

Next !

Not paying an inflated price for Howard  or Hulse is fine with me and I think most others. Why was Worthington so interested in them anyway when there are other departments which need strengthening first.

At least if youth is given a chance and it doesn''t work then its cheaper than an expensive transfer buy that hasn''t  worked.

Hi King of Latvia:  Have a read of this, it makes for a refreshing breath of fresh air compared to comments about our youngsters from our manager...........

http://212.58.240.36/sport2/low/football/teams/p/preston/4876780.stm

From the article: "Davies'' team have achieved this, despite three players who started last season''s play-off final against West Ham leaving the club and an injury list that has stretched his squad to the limit.

David Nugent, Callum Davison, Matt Hill and Brian O''Neil all started against West Ham - all are out injured. Nugent and Davis are said to have no chance of returning before 21 May, the date of the play-off final.

Furthermore, Adam Nowland, Andy Lonergan, Danny Dichio, Lewis Neil, Patrick Agyemang and Ormerod are also currently ill or injured. "

Preston continued their good run despite the long injury list and finished 4th before being undone by Leeds in the lottery of the play-offs.

Obviously you haven''t really thought about it. Why didn''t the injury to Ryan Jarvis make much difference? Why would you also wish to take away MLJ because you think he is injury prone? Both were injured both would have featured.

How ever many injuries another club has is irrelevant when we are talking about are club. We are talking about the way we perform on a Saturday not anyone else with less injuries, so you can forget that one. You seem to forget that at one stage we had to put  Academy players on the bench because we had noone left.

Should we also take out all left footed players because it''s only fair every club has left footed players don''t they. Oh and don''t forget the gingers they don''t count either.  You can sit there and eliminate players all day long for these irrelavent reasons but ultimately it''s about numbers because numbers fill the pitch and the bench up.

You are right though in that this is an ''old chestnut'' but it''s become so because you still don''t seem to understand the impact vast injuries have. Until you do, it will only crop up again elsewhere.

I don''t think the injuries hold much water either.  If we had replaced all the players that left last summer as the club stated they would then it would not have been such an issue.  The club would have you beleive it was injuries that cost us so dear but how many times where the club forced to play youngsters due to this list of 100+ injuries?  Never.  Was Jarrett not playing down to injury?  No.

The only injuries that really made any difference were Safri and McKenzie and even Leon was not playing well before he was injured and Worthy had tried to replace him in the summer anyway.

I agree there were injuries but Worthy didn''t do himself any favours for not addressing a shocking midfield, he only made it worse. His signings were awful, and why waste money on loan deals when we all knew we had no chance of he play offs come the end of January. Money was wasted on Johanssen, and Rehman, when this was the time to blood in the youngsters, who by chance will be getting their chance this year as we seem to be lacking money. Bad management in my opinion. Should have played the youngsters last season and not wasted bundles of cash on more duff signings.

In the grander scheme of things, injuries contributed to bugger all when it came to the starting 11 last season, as has already been mentioned. Also, maybe Worthless should be a bit more careful about his pre season mottos - I believe last season it was "No Excuses" - it seems, according to some, injuries are exempt from this [^o)]

I will point you to the same article I pointed the King of Latvia to:

http://212.58.240.36/sport2/low/football/teams/p/preston/4876780.stm

When we played Preston at Deepdale they had 10 (Ten) players out.

Also I do not remember our youngsters getting many games last season, so it can''t have been that bad an injury crisis.

At one point we were short in midfield whilst Jason Jarrett was on loan at Plymouth!!  Simon Charlton and Jim Brennan came in I beleive......  Rossi Jarvis got 10 impressive minutes at the end - was he picked again??

But . . . Preston had a squad of 30, we had 23.

PS.  CJF is back, omigod!

In which case CJF, Preston fans are within their right to look towards injuries as part of their failure to get promoted.

It is also part of our reason.

Other factors include having a poor team, playing with no shape and not getting the best out of some individuals.

I''m not suggesting it is the only reason and never have. But it can''t be overlooked and certainly should be factored in, including all otherwise available players.

You can''t just disregard these factors because you would rather tailor your argument down one channel. If it was that easy the world would be in permenant eutopia.

Pathetic Excuse Yellow Rages, Preston finished comfortably 4th a massive 18 points ahead of us.....

Preston NE 4620206593080+29

They won 20, drew 20 and lost 6.  Had we acheived this record there would be no people on this board complaining (well apart from 1st Wizard)

Yes we had some injuries, but none really affected the team enough to be forced into playing youngsters (having said that opportunities arose but worthless decided to play players out of position to very poor effect for the most part).  And even with a near fully fit squad results stayed poor.

Alex,

Are you suggesting that we had no first team players injured last season?
I never suggested that at all. What I''m saying is that it was not the "crisis" many people, including the club, would like to make out it was, and that even if we were injury free, it wouldn''t have made a blinde bit of difference - we still had/have a very poor team with shockingly bad management decisions! The injury situation cannot be used as an excuse.

We don''t all start the season on a level playing field. (excuse the pun) If that was the case, every teams odds to win the league would be exactly the same. Preston have a better side than we do. Without those injuries, they may have been promoted. Without our injuries we may have finished in a playoff position. No more than that though because we were no good enough.

It is a bit of a fruitless task if you are going to try and compare two completely individual clubs and pretend that they are like for like.

Nice try though?.............................No it wasn''t even that.
