Yes, signed from the French second tier.

Now in the French 4th tier.

A lot of these players we spent money on seem to have gone backwards.

Quality scouting from Norwich 😉

Perhaps because we take a punt in the bargain bucket in the hope that we find the odd diamond?

Aboh's contract runs until 2025 - not sure if we have a further option

"a clearer path to first team football "

eh ?

Players are selected on merit, not through any contractual agreement

Both Gunn and Rowe are out of contract next summer, so either we are able to agree a further contract, or see them leave on a free.

Onel, Long, Passnacht, Hanley, Barnes and Springett are also out of contract next summer.  I doubt whether any of those will be offered a new contract.

I didn't say that he would just waltz into the first team, he would obviously have to earn the right. But we are obviously going to put more emphasis on using our youngsters under Knapper.

Think there's a little bit of disingenuousness regarding how difficult it is to find those gems.

Only a tiny fraction of youth players go on to get a decent career in professional football. From that little sliver, we have to identify those who might have high-level potential, which haven't already been spotted & hoovered up by the mega-academies, that we can convince that moving to Norfolk is the best choice for them. Even then, they then have to fulfill that potential and there's a laundry list of things that can affect that. It's a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the playing population.

The name of the game is, unfortunately, 14 out of 15 young players signed we will be lucky to generate a fee for when they leave. But it only takes a Godfrey or an Aarons to make the system profitable. I'd say in the past 6-7 years we've been highly effective as things go.

True. Worth pointing out that we already had those two (as well as Lewis and Maddison) before Webber arrived.

I know, I never said you did.

There will be no more emphasis on the youngsters than before - other than there will not be the need for 'stop gap' older players, so the overall age of the squad willl decrease, that's all. Each player will be elected on merit, as stated.

The idea that a player would be selected based in his age is absurd. We haven't even appointed the next manager, yet you would have him tied to that policy.

Aboh will have to take his chance, along with the rest. If he is good enough, he will follow Rowe, Omibamedele, Godfrey, Aarons etc

Well I get that, but by the time you've wasted £3m on these little punts you might as well have bought a player for £3m who is already good enough to play in the Championship. Like Sam McCallum who was £2.5m, who it is a bit of a shame to lose really.

Oh  dear - thought we would had released a lot more- Barnes for example alongside Duffy and what about Idah wonder what's going to happen with  him, stay or go- guess the ones released money wont be exchange but the main concern is what will happen to our talented players ?

Where have I said that that I would tie Knapper to the policy of playing someone simply because of his age? Yes Knapper will have some experienced players, but he will be using more youngsters than in the previous season

Barnes and Duffy have another year to run on their contracts, these are those whose contract have expired and not agreed new contracts.  Barnes and Duffy could still leave but it would need some sort of separate deal.

also they were signed from other clubs ,

that's where you can make the most money ,

we have done well from south America which surprised me as their youngsters can be very expensive

You can't just release a player who is under contract. All of these players had reached the end of their contract.s

To shift anybody else we'd have to mutually negotiate a settlement to pay them off.

As expected really, interesting to see Flynn Clarke has now officially been released after his antics earlier in the season.

No surprises there at all

I thought Clarke still had years on his contract. Regardless glad to see he’s gone.

I hope he has had plenty of time to reflect and he’s free to go on and rebuild his career, but glad it’s not here.

Surprised to see Sørensen get another year.

They’ve made it clear it’s due to his versatility, given how much the squads about to get churned think it makes sense. It’s only a one year deal with another year option.

Glad to see there’s some hope with Aboh, thought that was well and truly dead.
