Indy 3,499 Posted December 3, 2023 Bloody brilliant after losing midweek, good for Idah, that’s 6 goals this season, more than Barnes & Hwang combined! Also really pleased for Wagner, got three wins out of four now! Get the youngsters on there Wagner have faith in Rowe, Idah, Fisher, Sainz!
A K Narey 257 Posted December 3, 2023 I am pleased for Idah who gets a lot of unfair criticism I still like Wagner as a man but I am not sure that he is the right man to be our long term manager.
TheGunnShow 7,470 Posted December 3, 2023 He's definitely trying and fighting to stay in. The football's pretty turgid, but I'll respect the spirit. That's a team lacking confidence somewhat, but it's not a team that's not playing for the manager. They're still behind him.

I still think he’s doing well with the ****e left to him this summer! Duffy, Forshaw, Hwang, Stacey, Fassnacht, and to a degree Bathh & Barnes (Barnes excellent motivator and might be better asa coach for our young striker in the future). Had we actually invested in some decent CB, loaned a good CDM & striker who knows what could be achieved! Still Knappers reign has started with 3 out four wins! Not bad, maybe he is having an impact already!

But I was still jumping around the room when Idah scored and it was genuinely nice to see the celebration by Wagner with Idah. Whatever you think about Wagner he is an emotional guy and deserved that celebration. BUT despite that I still have my concerns, Indy makes a good point re the squad but isn’t that the type of player Wagner said he wanted? Suppose question is who is to blame for all the old duffers bought this season? Wagner, Webber or a combination? Anyhow, I’m going to celebrate the win with a beer and hope Wagner and Idah both end up proving me wrong. Edited December 3, 2023 by rock bus

Indeed he wanted more experience but I’m sure he didn’t want 7 players of that age and losing some good players Foreshaw, Batth & Hwang were last minute signings and I’m sure none of them in Wagners summer wanted list! I can forgive Duffy & Barnes, Barnes has been superb and Duffy on paper should have been! But I don’t like this squad and Knappers pretty much said the same, I bet Wagner has had long conversations about the summer signings! But really hope he can now make it 6 wins out of 7! Capt. Pants 5,152 Posted December 3, 2023 To be fair to Wagner we never saw that level of passion from Dean Smith. You do get the feeling he's wholly committed to the job, which was never the case with Smith, plus the players are undoubtedly behind him. That said I'm still unconvinced on how he sets a team up and longer term he may not be the NCFC manager. A wins a win though and 3 wins out of 4 is not a sackable offence. If Knapper had still not made his mind up, he'll be thoroughly scratching his head now!

I wonder at times, Fisher and McCullum do have more going forwards and certainly get a better cross in, I do wonder if we should drop Hernandez and play Sainz & Rowe? Yes I suppose Wagner has some players, when you see them play for the first 20 minutes they’re OK but all drift out of the game there after! Is it an age thing or a lack of leaders on the pitch? But certainly not saying we’re playing decent football, we are in patches but as a whole it’s still questionable! But three wins in four is a feed return, considering we were in free fall! To be fair Hwang was only a last minute signing because Sargent picked up that long term ankle injury on August 26th, just 5 days before the end of the transfer window. lake district canary 4,878 Posted December 3, 2023 Mclean, Idah and Wagner. All receiving loads of flak recently all had a good day today. Good to see it. It is up to them now, to continue improving and getting some momentum going. This season maybe isn't done yet.
Creedence Clearwater Couto 1,704 Posted December 3, 2023 (edited) Genuinely brilliant to see that Idah Wagner celebration. I really want it to happen and to jump on board.. that sort of passion really makes it hard to not to. But, Wagner still needs to go. Does celebrating a last minute winner, really show the players are 100% playing for him? I’d argue the 2nd half no show at Watford says the opposite.. plus players are fickle. Not always a good measure for judging the performance of a coach IMO - and why does it even matter if we’re losing more than we win? Our last 3 wins have all had large periods where the performance has been miles below par. During which, we’ve massively rode our luck. It’s not sustainable. ......and Smith must score. 1,637 Posted December 3, 2023 Spotted this Idah celebration v Everton in a pop-up art gallery in Bluewater shopping centre yesterday afternoon. Must have been written in the stars.
Mason 47 2,024 Posted December 3, 2023 The sort of celebration that really makes you want to believe. At this point I'd say it's probably still a bridge too far, but who knows. Maybe that was the moment that clicks some confidence into place- the reactions certainly seemed genuine to me.

Jury (or for Comical effect Drury) is out on Fassnacht and Forshaw Hwang started looking good prior to injury and Stacey has had a good season Barnes integral to the way we play, just back from injury and Batth clearly fitness issue agree with Duffy though, serious Steve Walsh vibes
canarybubbles 2,210 Posted December 4, 2023 I would broadly agree with your assessment of them as individuals, although I think Stacey has not been anywhere near as good over the last half-dozen games as he was at the beginning of the season. It's the sheer number of oldies and how this has affected the balance of the squad.

Stacey is one who flatters, he’s not the greatest defender and going forwards looks poor, Fisher in his part looks the better choice but admittedly still young and green at this level. Duffy still gets on that team sheet and we have to wonder why? Barnes the best by far but only for his fight and leadership, when you watch his game he’s not had the same impact as he did with Sargent! Agree I might be over critical but it’s noticeable that the youngsters are the ones having the impact even Idah!
