Highlights

To be fair to the guy he's a winger and his manager is the one that put him at left back. Can't blame him, when he went forward he looked decent.

No defensive instinct whatsoever. And weirdly tries to control the ball with the top of his foot - maybe has bunions.

Pretty rubbish highlights.

To be fair to Placheta, if he’d been further back their other guy would have been free in the box because Warner was poorly placed - it was just another poorly defended goal all round.  As many are.

That's what the 2 mins highlights are. Time taken up with replays of the goals, and the goals ... and thats is about it. I didn't think your comment was aimed at me, just curious 🙂

The thing is, we do have injuries. But not at left back.

So why on earth were two specialist left-backs, in Giannoulis and McCallum, left on the bench?

It's bizarre.

Three goals scored from inside the six yard box, and two from almost the goal line (assuming Argos got the final touch).

The first was from the training ground. Kenny is a great header of the ball... goals from corners, clearances today as CB. The tactic today was to get to the bylline and play it between the jeeper and defenders. Rowe played a lovely ball in the first half when, instead of knocking it back, he skinned the defender by taking the ball inside, just keeping it in before picking out a City player.

Gino on and Placheta down the winginstead of Hwang, who has nice touches but is otherwise ineffective.

What on earth was Placheta doing for their first - no idea where the man he was supposed be marking was ? Ineffective for the second. A good fast winger, not a left back.

Very harsh on Placheta I think.

Surely you have to look at where the ball came from first? No one put a challenge in on Robinson as he gets the ball from a throw in with relative ease.

Yes, Placheta's position was wrong but was he sucked too far in by Meite? Lack of communication by Batth and Placheta?

The second goal was from an overload on our right with Fisher way off his man and allowed him to cross. Sara allowed his man to run off in between Batth and Placheta! You just cannot allow your runner to move into space!

None of the goals were purely down to Placheta.

We all agree that he's no fullback but it's unfair to use him as the scapegoat.

First goal Placheta gets pulled away from the winger who's then unmarked and for the second Robinson passes out to the wing then runs past Sara who doesn't go with him leaving him free to attack the cross when it comes in. You cannot expect Long to stop either goal and he made a crucial save early in second half, don't think he's done badly since replacing Gunn.

Because Wagner has'nt got a clue how to set up to defend. Rob Butler(another without a clue),said Wagner changed the game with his subs, not grasping that he picked the wrong team to start.

I'd say their first shows Warner up for what he is, a young player learning the game. Gets out well to stop the winger but then loses focus a bit and doesn't get back in. Robinson cannot be allowed to take the ball to feet from a throw in there, JW is then the wrong side and can't stop the cross either.

A little harsh maybe as its only his second start, and a goal is rarely the fault of one player- Kenny is adjacent and should spot the danger also. With a Hanley in the side I think this goal is prevented.

The second is a failing of the LB to tuck in, again not goalside; Batth has no choice but to go with the central attacker. I will say in Plachetas defence that Dimi is also traditionally very weak at the back post so I don't think his presence would have saved us there either.

Ultimately our defence looked like exactly what it is- four players that have never played in a back line together.

Why was the winger allowed time and space to cross then on the first goal?

I'm not sure you can blame Placheta 100% even though it was his man that scored the first.

Placheta's position was wrong because Meite had pulled away from Batth and he didn't know whether to stick to his man or go towards Meite.

Where has anyone used him a scapegoat ? No one has stated "the goals were purely down to Placheta."

You state that "We all agree that he's no fullback", but claim that my comment that Plachetta 'is good fast winger, not a left back' was very harsh on Plachetta.😕

3 players fell asleep for the first goal from the throw, Fisher, Warner and McLean.

Fisher and Warner were out of position and McLean failed to stop the cross when he tried to cover the other two's failings.

No, this was harsh on Placheta,

"What on earth was Placheta doing for their first"

There's been a fair few posters blaming Placheta for the goals, just read through threads.

You point it out with relatively zero evidence though.

Long played ok vs Cardiff.

Incorrect. No one is.Just as one poster commenting in how he thinks Long is not good does not mean he is blaming him for either of the two goals we conceded. I suggest you try to understand what posters are actually stating rather than jumping to conclusions.

You're wrong. You yourself blamed him for the first goal and said he was ineffective for the second. How is anyone supposed to interpret that comment any other way?

The comment is harsh on Placheta and you are backpedalling for being called out.

Long hasn’t done a lot wrong since he’s been playing - no keeper is perfect, nor is he, but he’s had little chance with most of the goals conceded.  He’s certainly not at the front of the line for blame on our current problems.

He’s not great IMO. The first goal, the ball went under his foot. And the second, should he be commanding his area better? The striker is so close and Long is rooted to his line.

You’re right, no keeper is perfect. But we’ve got two average 6/10 keepers in Long and Gunn.

I agree with this in part, I think he should be a bit disappointed with the first goal - he actually does well initially to get across the goal quickly and get into a good position to face the shot, which then goes straight through him. In that situation you are expecting the attacker to score or at the very least hit the target, but I can't help but feel a better keeper saves that.

The second goal, maybe could have come for but he can't do anything about the header. I will admit in fairness he then made a crucial save at 2-1 down, but I've seen nothing so far to suggest he's anything other than an ok back up keeper.

Think 6 out of 10 is a little harsh on Gunn though, who is still developing as a keeper.

From the commentator towards the end:

”The Championship never ever fails to disappoint.”

I don’t think he meant that did he?
