Warner on Saturday?

Recommended Posts

I would be thinking very seriously about throwing him in ahead of one of the current pairing.

Fans need a lift and the Rowe's, Stacey's and Springett's of the new look side deserve better support defensively.

Batth wondering why he bothered being the best defender Sunderland have seen for a season if he doesnt even get a start for us.

The best defender that they didn’t offer a contract to? Have I got that right ?

Ok . Didn’t know that.

Wonder why?

Imagine we offered more money? His last pay day probably and the indications have always been we pay higher wages than Championship average.

If I remember right we have some of the highest player wages in the championship right now.

Think if true there's your answer

I'd be more excited about seeing Warner start than Gibson, Duffy or Batth.

Regardless, the Duffy/Gibson combo surely has to end now?

Sunderland were looking to play younger cbs and didn't want to pay an appearance bonus.

Not sure his use of the ball is great, but nor is duffy, gibbons is best when on his game but that's inconsistent atm,  but has the best recent defemsive performance levels of the experiences cbs.

Warner is an option but feels unlikely and risky as a youngster when the protection. In front and around him is variable

Warner was pretty damn good when he got his start, can’t believe he’s not been part of the squad since given we’ve not exactly looked good at the back. As for Batth sorry but like Hwang a panic signing not of any great quality and should be behind our youngsters who show they deserve a chance! I’m getting a little disappointed with Wagner relying on Dads Army too much through the core of the team! We need to add youth in at the back too!

Warner and Gibson worked well at Fulham ,

they are a PL team with plenty of skill so they should be pretty solid together in Champs ,

i think our tactics are not helping our CB's ,

High press swansea did it to us then last night dropped off after 10 mins

and we started doing it to them , i think that was a swansea tactic to drop off a bit ,

because when we high press then our CB's push up lack of pace and teams go more direct ,

ball over the top and you have taken out two CB's in one go i think we will see more of that as the season goes on

Wagner has said his main concern is figuring out why we hwve lost these 3 consecutive away games.

Most must surely point to playing the slow Duffy and Gibson partnership that hasnt worked very effectively for us.

Wagner needs to try Batth and Warner and having lost consecutive games now you cant keep trying that pairing hoping it will come.good. We lack any pace with those two

Well right now we have money sitting redundant in some bank account when we could be playing and further developing Omobamidele and Warner whilst having some much needed pace and desire at the back.

Funny that we spent so long moaning about how our unexperienced youngsters were not good enough so we needed some older pros in to shore up our defence..

We get just that and people still moan

Yes, but it would help if they could run and not pass to the opposition.

We'll see what Batth is like but Sunderland weren't prepared to pay the salary he wanted. Sunderland seem to be doing fine without him.
