Todays injury updates- Giannoulis out two months

Recommended Posts

“Dimi will be out for a minimum of eight weeks. “It’s a ligament injury, so he’s going to see a specialist and we’ll know more from there.

We’ll change a lot of faces for tomorrow. I’ll be giving Sara his first start to get him some minutes. Villa will allow Ramsey to play in the cup for us, but we’re still waiting on clearance for the FA. He’ll certainly get minutes with us this season.

Hayden is moving along really well. There’s no swelling on the knee so we expect him back in the next three or four weeks.”

Probably not worth getting someone in for that period, with Sorensen as cover.

I am not sure what I think of Archer coming in, is he not going to reduce the opportunities for Rowe and Springett?

Glad for him it’s hopefully not too serious as it didn’t sound great! That said, ligaments can be tricky little ****ers so hopefully he heals up as planned and can get a few minutes before the World Cup break.

Big chance for McCallum. Byram/Sorenson more than adequate back up, be a waste bringing someone else in.

Only 8 weeks is fantastic news!

Even if this gets extended, it sounds as if he should be back by the restart after the World Cup break, which is much better than it seemed after the match.

I reckon 8 weeks could be considered a good result, considering - but I guess we wait for the specialist.  He’s fit, that always aids recovery.

It is good news. It looked like a break as he was given gas and air. (did mine in a 5 a side match and it took fully 3 weeks before I could walk properly and maybe another 3 before residual pain had gone). His looked really nasty but he will have the best treatment.

I had been looking forward to seeing Dimi this season too as I thought we would see more of his attacking threat - like we saw with Max in the Championship. A chance for McCallum though.

It's minimum 8 weeks. The WC break might actually help us in that respect.

The fantastic news is that Hayden is progressing nicely.

Dirty bunch of cloggers Wigan...hope they go back down to league one

Even though ironically that injury wasnt as a result of a challenge from them.
