Jersey Canary 149 Posted January 2, 2022 Apparently we’re after Bradford midfielder Elliott Watt. Out of contract at the end of the season. Age 21, Scottish and 5ft 8 tall. Seems like another youth gamble. Maybe we’ll get him in to allow someone to go out on loan?

rock bus 875 Posted January 2, 2022 Would be nice to see a player for now given that’s where we are, rather than yet another one for the future!!!

Christoph Stiepermann 1,157 Posted January 2, 2022 (edited) It doesn't matter how tall or athletic they are, the opposition will always just sit off and let us play tippy tappy passes around at a snails pace, they won't even try and press or challenge us so it'll be fine to fill our team with twiglets. Statistically zonal marking cuts down on the number of set piece goals conceded so we don't need to worry about height there either. We should ignore scoring goals from set pieces and winning headers as well, it goes against our philosophy. Wasn't that Barca side that played in La Liga in 2008 wonderful? There's no reason we can't do just that with no budget in a league full of 6ft+ super athletes Edited January 2, 2022 by Christoph Stiepermann
Capt. Pants 4,329 Posted January 2, 2022 Tbh if he's not going to be in our first team either this season or next, then unless he's one of our own I'm not in the slightest bit interested in him. We seem to have an army of young players kicking around at the club or on loan and non of them are close to the first team.
TIL 1010 4,826 Posted January 2, 2022 Sign him up, bomb him out on loan to to the lower leagues and then release him from his contract just before it expires.

Jersey Canary 149 Posted January 2, 2022 I don’t mind it he turns out to be the next Phelan, Townsend etc. until we get a wealthy owner this is what we have to do to succeed. Kiss a few frogs.

AJ 1,235 Posted January 3, 2022 We need to replace Gilmour at the end of the season so let's hope his sideways and backwards passing stats are good!
