Things I want to see against Leeds

Recommended Posts

It's been a thoroughly depressing 24 hours. But my thoughts have to start to focus on what's next. So...the next home game.

* Want to see some real attacking intent starting with team selection. For me attack has always been the best form of defence (especially at home when the crowd adds to the expectation and can heap pressure on the away team). Attacks give the other team something to think about and their team talk goes out of the window. We know how Bielsa will set up.

* Want to see Tzolis start. He is unknown in this league. He needs a PL start and at home.  The crowd will support him. It will carry him.

* I don't care so much about who has done well in training but in this coming week I do want to hear from players. That they hurt. Because fans are hurting. Hearing this will at least chime with how fans are feeling.

* I hope Omobamidele comes in and does really well. For me Gibson has never been a PL player. I want to see him make his chance count and cement one of the CB places

* A different formation and midfield mix. Time for Dowell. His corners and free kick skills are needed. We've looked poor in this regard for a long time. Kieran, I believe, offers a skill we have underused. Small percentages I know but one that might count.

* A supportive crowd that really understands it's one of those "defining" games. When things are so tough it's when the fans are needed more than ever. Especially on the back of a 7-0 defeat.  I hope the anger on this forum can be put aside if only for 95 minutes.

.........

Anyway, DF.....I reckon this is your biggest ever career challenge. Make us proud at least of a performance, a battle, some real  intent. So far, our performances have been so unlike Championship Daniel Farke teams. Time you got that back. Think of the 1-3 win at Elland Road. That match the team played with real fight.

.......

I made a post "the next 9 games" and had this Leeds game as a draw (followed by 2 wins after!).

Whatever happens, I just want a committed performance 🙏

(Feel a bit better having written this🙂)

Time to see how big Daniel’s ba11s are. Pick a team that’s capable of going for the win might help. No Kenny M anywhere near the starting line up and as you say Tzolis must start. Throw in Cantwell too and ask the players if they want to play to save someone’s job.

A home goal would be nice.

Actually going ahead in a match would be a strange feeling.

About time it happened.

All well and good Sony but it needs to be reciprocated. I have no doubt the crowd will be fired up for kick off, if we’re in the game the crowd will be too. But if the players don’t give us any fight or any passage of football to get behind, and we end up going behind by 1 or 2, it will turn sour very fast. And rightly so.

Generally agree with you though, let’s chop things up and get back to basics. Would love to see Tzolis and Cantwell as part of a 3 behind Pukki.

Nobody sitting in the dugout who has a beard, long hair and is wearing an anorak

Looks like Ollie could be available soon.

Agree 100%. The points were in a rough order though. The team has to show intent, DF needs to pick a selection that has some 'weapons' in it (to use Parma's famous but really descriptive word😄)

I feel you @sonyc and I agree with the home crowd...but how do you expect them to react after another 1-0 deficit after 3-5 mins? I mean the atmosphere will be important and the team needs support, but I feel it will turn on them if they let the faithful down again... oh , and we all hate Leeds...for a reason

Personally I want us play 4 2 3 1, (ideally with a winger playing) and to keep a clean sheet, if we win the game that would be amazing, but not conceding would be a realistic target.

Leeds will come looking to kick start their season. We’ll need to show way more than we did against Burnley and Brighton I feel and I can’t see anything but us losing.

We need a fresh set of ideas and I don’t think Farke has a clue how to do that. He really has become the classic 1 trick pony.
