Starting line-up for Liverpool

Not sure Rashica will start. Barely had any game time in preseason and wasn't amazing in the instances I saw him. I hope that he's settled in more now and we can see what he's really about.

My guess (assuming Cantwell is fit and Tzolis is still isolating):

---------------------------Krul--------------------------------
---Aarons---Hanley---Gibson---Giannoulis--
-------Rupp-------Gilmour-----Lees-Melou------
---------------Dowell--------Cantwell-----------------
---------------------------Pukki-----------------------------

Subs: Gunn, Omobamidele, Mumba, Sorensen, McLean, Placheta, Rashica, Idah, Sargent.

That looks about right.

Really looking forward to seeing how Giannoulis copes with TAA - baptism of fire!

Last time in Prem in the buildup to the game against Liverpool I was really looking forward to it, confident that we would surprise a few unaware of the project at Carrow Road. ‘Togetherness’ in group forged in a dominant Championship campaign. And then it all literally fell apart in what 4 minutes by a Hanley own goal.

This time I’m not really looking forward to it at all, I’m nervous we haven’t learned the lessons of an embarrassing premier league season last time out. No real togetherness with all the outgoings and incomings, with plenty of injuries and isolations to boot.

Who knows with expectations this low there may be a result…

I also feel that Farke will ease Rashica in gently. It has been his way in the past with some players. Not so PLM though.

I could have written that first paragraph, but have more optimism than the second.

Yeah I'd go with that. Will Sargent make the bench is the question I'd ask.

But, having said that, him and Rashica on with 20 mins to go?! They won't have played much with the rest of the squad but at least they know each others game! Could be interesting...

I actually think it's quite smart recruitment to get these players in who have played with one another in different teams before. Should hopefully help them settle into our rhythm

Sargent and Tzolis appear from reports to be match fitter than some of our lads e.g. Rashica and he's no more familiar with the play at this stage so they could both start potentially, especially Sargent since apparently he defends well from the front.   Know its not how Farke usually introduces players but it may be 'needs must'!  Not sure what DF thinks of Idah's development as yet so he may drop out (very unfortunate if that's the case) but difficult to predict the team.    If we are going with the usual formation, its a lot of work for the wide forwards

Krul

Aarons, Omobamidele, Gibson, Giannoulis

Gilmour and Lees-Melou............ we still need two CDM's (one as an adequate back-up, one perhaps that could step in at centre-half)

Sargent, Dowell, Cantwell.................. or Dowell, Cantwell, Tzolis with Sargent up front if Pukki unavailable..... Just hope Todd makes it.

Pukki.

Subs... Gunn, Mumba, Hanley, Sorensen, Rupp, Rashica, Idah, or Tzolis, ...... blimey, thats tough on someone and DF!

not in.... McLean (fitness), Zimmermann, Platcheta, Hernandez,

If the report is true that we wanted to push the Tzolis deal through in time for him to be available for the game on Saturday then it could well be he is in the mix, especially if Todd is injured.

This is going to be rogue and assumes that Cantwell not fit enough to start, and that Rashica's fitness has improved.

Try and stay compact then hit them with pace on the counter

Krul

Aarons, Hanley, Gibson, Giannoulis

Gilmour, Lees Melou, Sorenson

Rashica, Tzolis,

Pukki

The above discussions seem to solve the tricky problem of what specialist central DM we’re going to be using to help solidify our defence, a key takeaway from 19-20: Sorenson or AN Other to be bought/loaned…

i.e. the consensus is none!

Suppose we should get away with it vs Liverpool at least, who aren’t particularly known for their attacking prowess.
