I wouldn't be surprised to see a few go now, we have shown we have no desire to compete and no interest in making an attempt at staying  up

I thought this was a thread about our new sponsors and we were literally putting our players in the shop window now. Jacket £59.99, Model, first offer over £25 million

Ah, you're one of the ones who think we could have forced Emi to stay despite his wishes to leave, and that maybe we could have simply paid him 100k a week (who cares about squad unrest and financial stability?), and the whole thing would have been a non-issue.

You need to accept the reality of the situation in football, where our place in the pyramid is, and that it's got nothing to do with the clubs ambition or desire to stay up, when the players have all the power to force moves and cut through all our intent in one fell swoop.

I see West Brom are saying Pereira can go if someone offers 15 mil, you don't think they'd rather have him there? But realistically, he's better than the champs, had a very good season in the PL this year, clubs ARE going to be interested, but I guess West Brom are also simply lacking ambition to come back up as they're advertising their star player on the cheap, for less than HALF what we got for Emi.

So many clubs who are happy to not compete eh?

It's unlikely, but if we got Pereira for that and if Olise really does have an £8m release clause and we triggered it, I'd say we've played a blinder. Chuck in a potentially returning Skipp for another year....

FACT: Transfers happen in football all the time. FACT: Players are not bonded slaves but have a say in their playing careers.

Fact: no promoted team has ever cashed in on their main player. Fact: Toney and Sarr will both be playing for Watford and Brentford next season irrelevant of if a £35 million bid comes in

Not facts alas, unless you have the power of precognition, in which case could you please let me know what next week's lottery numbers are (I promise to donate the winnings to the "replace Buendia" fund).

No one can dispute we seriously lack any sort of ambition what so ever why would any player worth their salt want to stay with us now.

never before has the stowmarket 2s lack of ambition been so stark as what we have  witnessed over the past 24 hours

Once again I have been proven right in my assessment of them

Exactly this, the whole picture needs to be looked at before the panty wetting we've seen in the past 18 hours should start. That means we need to wait until Aug 31st before losing our ****. I'm not concerned in the slightest about yesterday's news if it means we can bring in 3 or 4 more quality players now.

Again ... far FAR too sensible and accurate for this thread!

I don't get why fans who have been told the mechanics of the Webber philosophy time and time again still don't get it. We nurture and sell our youth stars for profit and plough that back into the playing squad. In the long term we'll not only end up with a higher quality squad overall but be increasingly able to keep hold of players like Emi, Maddisom and Godrey ... they have been on our hands too early in the project to keep long term.

This is the philosophy that's given us two Championship trophies, youth players in our first team, record breaking transfer deals and bloomin gorgeous football.

We are in a golden age ... and, excitingly, only at the very start of the journey. Get behind it, take pride in it and dare to look at the stars rather than your toes.

So if we were to take the exact terms of this sale and then offer it to Brentford for Toney do you think it would be accepted?

Anybody trying to justify this sale, answer this.  If we were to take the exact terms of this offer and then offer it to Brentford for Toney would that offer be accepted?

Don't know, but wouldn't want us to, got a feeling he's one of those Dwight Gale too good for the Championship not good enough for the Premier types.

Perhaps if you pull your head out of the sand you'll notice that there was a pandemic that meant we were able to keep Emi for an extra year, under normal circumstances, he'd have been sold when we were relegated. Be grateful we didn't flog him off to Arsenal for 16 mill a year ago.

Emi was on borrowed time, in a freak set of circumstances.

Literally read it and thought the exact same thing. I'd rather have Pukki.

If Toney wanted to move and had already made it clear anywhere up to a year previously he wanted to go elsewhere, then absolutely I think it would be accepted, as it would for 90%+ of players in a similar situation.

Completely missing the point. I don’t care either way about Toney but he is their man player and only silly bids would be considered. We have not sold at silly prices

And yet before this sale no club upon promotion has ever sold such an influential player to their team before.

No club has been using this, highly successful and widely lauded, experiment before.

Those clubs are in different circumstances to us. Each club is unique.
