They are largely subjective and just one persons opinion, of course, though I think there are a few names most would agree on. I have only seen one of the guitarists on this list, and that´s the one that´s probably the biggest surprise inclusion. I´ve also seen one that isn´t mentioned, but usually does feature on "best guitarists" lists Eddie Van Halen Prince Jack White Carrie Brownstein Brian May David Gilmour Chuck Berry **** Dale Jimmy Page Jimi Hendrix I've never heard Carrie Brownstein but the rest of the list is pretty good. Gilmour being the only one I've seen in real life though.

She's the one I've seen, several times in Sleater Kinney Interesting that the forum no longer seems to allow some special characters for certain words. Mr Angry 1,571 Posted April 23 As a fan of mainly punk, new wave and indie bands I've never really got into guitarists, but my Top Three would be 1. John Squire (Stone Roses) 2. Roddy Frame (Aztec Camera and solo) 3. East Bay Ray (Dead Kennedys)

I only really know him from The blue brothers films. That alone is worth legendary status.
The Raptor 1,231 Posted April 25 As for guitarists. I'll go with the ones I've seen. In no particular order as that changes on mood. Kirk Hammett Pete Townsend Neil Young Tom Morello Peter buck All very different so it depends on my mood. Credit to tim Armstrong for being able to sing/play while obviously being completely off his box every time I've seen him. Multi guitar attack where you're never really sure who's doing what award goes to Radiohead. I suspect Ed is quietly as good despite thom and Johnny getting all the attention.

That sounds great. He's an angry man! Rightly so probably. If they do end up killing him I hope it's over quickly poor guy.
