If this isn't the best singing performance behind a national anthem, then I don't know what is - and Kazakhstan's anthem is a foot-tapper anyway.

And yeah, play this as loud as your ears can take it.

Some Brian Wilson songs are either ignored or just don't get the play they deserve. Its not all Chevvies and Surf.

Love this and well used in Good Morning Vietnam.

The film and album both entitled Love and Mercy are both worth seeking out

Not a well publicised track of his but such a wonderful piece of music to just sit and relax to. Maybe the greatest contemporary composer but surely the greatest movie soundtrack one.

Cricky,  that's about the most masculine thing I have ever seen or heard.  There's so much adrenalin and testosterone pumping through me right now that I feel the need to invade a small country.

Have this then, from one of Russia's constituent republics. Apparently, their current defence minister, Sergei Shoigu comes from this region down on the Mongolian border. It has certainly powered me through a few interval sessions, that's for sure.

And if you're really interested, here's the Wiki as a primer.

There's a Mongolian heavy metal band, The HU, that makes these guys look like sissies. (They're actually quite good too.)

I don't mind some of this. Mixed in with Nordic myths... (language is Faroese, by the way)

Wonderful cover of the Byrds classic and great to hear Rickenbacker guitars again that gave us such a different sound in the 60s

I had seen the second half of that. The Gabriels and Kelly Jones were good.

I can’t remember how, but I stumbled across Nurse with Wound, and then this (possibly from Stuart Maconie’s Sunday show on 6 Music). I’m really enjoying it, got some exploring to do. Apparently it really does sound better on headphones.

Edit: it sounds great on headphones!

I’ve only just watched this. I have to say, apart from the oil drilling,  Kazakhstan looks great! And that last note is impressive.
