So I''ve just fired up the demo of the new FM for the first time and I''m greeted with a report on the percieved strengths and weaknesses of the squad. Based on the weaknesses I''d say they''ve watched us quite a bit...

- Timm Klose is one of the few players with the quality to play central defence, better depth is required

- The squad doesn''t work hard enough, individually or collectively

- There is currently a leadership void

- The squad has low levels of aggression and commitment

Not much to argue with there....

I think that they use professional scouting reports for their stats and research. I''ve heard it said that clubs have had players scouted after researching their stats on football manager

Not being a fan of computer games, a while ago I did find this article which shows how much detail goes into the game and it is now being used more and more professionally. It obviously helps with the ''Moneyball'' aspect of the game which is becoming more prevalent.

i think its better this season, few more media options, players are pickier about who they sign for which makes it a little harder with negotiations, and the finances have been changed to reflect the market which again means you need to shuffle the pack if youre playing as norwich to free up wages, although quite a lot of clubs like to add the ''selling team contributing wage'' clause to deals which is really annoying.

its pretty much impossible to sell lafferty, andreu and whittaker, to the point where you cant even give them away, so quite realistic

selling brady, signing assombalonga, dorin rotariu and callum paterson

will pretty much gaurentee you promotion in the first season, paterson turns into a beast of a wing back so hes an absolute bargain buy

He was playing in the u23 development side last season at the age of 16 or 17. Looks very good.I sold Mulumbu to AC Milan on the beta and the squad went into meldown over it.

Mulumbu went to Soton for me (turned down PSG!), squad didn''t seem to care though!Also funny how many of the squad were pleased I''d dropped Martin as captain for Howson, and how Martin just sat back and took it rather than getting all pi$$ed off!

I''d only be cheating myself...

Anyway, Berahino was on a free when WBA let him go after my 1st season up. I offered him what he wanted and acted early. Lukaku was £12m when everton had decided they didn''t want him/he may have been unhappy. I was in the Europa league by that point and Costa was free as a 32 year old over the hill Chelsea reject the first season I qualified for champions league. Costa was arguably the most realistic scenario.

The game itself really isn''t that hard especially at first before patch updates. its a matter of overspending and buying the best players you can and them exploiting weak ai tactics (long throws, near post corners to a tall CB, playing roaming playmaker and off the shoulder strikers. Admittedly the cl win was pretty lucky (2 shootouts) and it''ll be a while before I have the consistency to win the premiership but I''ve effectively gambled the future of the club by overspending and so far so good.
