1.
Whatever you say about the pros/cons of preseason friendlies the object is not to go all out and risk the kind of long term injuries that we incurred last year. However the real purpose is to ''gel'' the new ''intake'' and test the shape etc the team intends to employ. Does not sound as though there was a lot of that going on on Sat: http://norwichcity.myfootballwriter.com/2018/07/29/a-non-descriptive-80-minutes-followed-by-a-late-encouraging-flurry-but-two-big-questions-remain-unanswered/ Is it still felt that my pessimism regarding our owners/management committee remains misplaced? I am sure you will let me know although you might wish to give it the previously mentioned 10 games!
Fake news !
 2.
If we don’t play Pukki who do we play as striker? I think we’d all not mind seeing Oliviera but I don’t think he will be in the squad. Do we test out Buendia, Marshall? Wouldn’t be opposed to a youth striker
Not all count me out.
 3. To be fair after what I saw tonight I might just have a few pennies on our own club as we are still a big price
 4.

The Times reports it as a 55% stake for £30m Purple. I wish I shared your faith that our owners would not stand in the way if someone beneficial wanted to buy them out. I’m not so convinced.
Jim, the idea that there are no investors available to buy Norwich or any other club is silly - of course, if the price is low enough you can find someone prepared to invest, because they stand to make a killing if the price is low enough. The key word is, beneficial. Xia has spent nearly £150 million at Villa - would you say that this was beneficial, or Randy Lerner before him?At this stage we know nothing about the deal - for example, how much will they charge in interest for any loans that they make to the club? (Some of the QPR shareholders were charging over 12%) We also don''t know whether the ground and the football club now have separate ownership which is a deal that is sometimes done, so that they have security for any loans made.On the face of it, I suspect that the new owners at Villa will have a great deal for Villa because the mess that the previous investor made of it. Whether it is any more beneficial for Villa than the Xia or Lerner deals remains to be seen. It could be third time lucky, but so far rich investors do not seem to have been beneficial to Villa. I think it reasonable to suggest that they would have been in a far better position if they had kept someone similar to "Deadly Doug" before all the fans started clamouring for "an investor with real wealth."
Well said Looks like if the papers are to be beleived Bruce’s head will roll and Henry will take over. That is a big risk for both parties ?
 5.

What actually happened to Krul to derail his career?
He had repetitive strain injury from bending down to pick the ball out of the back of the net
He was a top goalkeeper. Nobody knows how good he is since his injury as the number 1 at Newcastle and Brighton did nothing to warrant being dropped, unlike outfield positions you can only play 1 goalkeeper. Yet another player you are giving no chance before they even play.
 6.
An encouraging defeat against some third rate germans. Righto. Sounds like we’re preparing for third division old money if you ask me. Hope I’m wrong.
This is nowhere near our 1st team. Did you not want us to play the youngsters ? So gave them a chance to see where they are in their development, we got beat now it’s the clubs fault for giving our youngsters a chance to step up. So far the argument that all these youngsters are ready for championship football is not adding up.
 7. Liverpool have just bid for Allison so maybe their young goalkeeper will be available?
 8.
Ben Woodburn seems to have been highly rated by those at Liverpool, but i just think we would be better off with either developing our own players or bringing in a player from the lower leagues, he has not played much for Liverpool''s first team and i do understand that with the players they have that may be difficult but there must be better options.
And if we start using our youngsters even if they are not yet as good and we start losing, will you call for Farkes head or will you stick by him for playing and developing our kids over a couple of seasons ?
 9. A lot of our signings ( Rhodes included ) we would have been raving about 2 to 3 years ago. Our policy seems to be to sign players desperate to get their careers back on track. This is a policy similar to the Lambert era where players who were hungry were signed to start their careers. Providing we have only signed players that are desperate to get their careers back on course ( after questioning by Webber and Farke ) I think this is a good move, signing hungry players that a couple of years ago would have been way out of our league given our current position.
 10. If reports in the press today are correct suggesting Shaqiri is off to Man Utd for £12m the money we received for the 2 Murphys and Maddison is put into perspective. I suspect when you take wages into account the deal is probably nearer the Maddison deal but it looks like the club really did get top bucks for our young talent.
 11.

Looks like it.... just hope this new lad can cut it in the Championship.
Good enough for Dortmund and the Champs League, but you''re unsure if he''s good enough for us in the Champs...jesus wept.
Played against the mighty Warsaw and Sporting Lisbon in the CL and then didn''t get near their team last year. Not saying they''d throw just anybody in in a CL game but he''s clearly gone off the boil. Suppose that''s not a bad thing for us as Trybull and Leitner were in comparable situations but have looked good. Also anybody that''s played right through the German youth system over the last 6 or 7 years is probably not too bad.
That’s quite a theme in our team now ie Hernandez, Leitner and Pukki. I guess all these players are being offered the opportunity to resurrect their careers and we only take the hungry ones. A bit like Lambert with youngsters Farke way is players that were destined for the top but did not quite click. If this works we could have an amazing squad.
 12.
Selling players for many millions and replacing them with loan players and freebies. It doesn''t take a genius to work out how that will end up!
You are right top 6.
 13.

Pukki has been far from a consistent performer even at a lower level then the Championship.
Pukki has improved year on year and has been a consistent performer/goal scorer since 2010, even at Celtic where he managed 7 goals in 26 matches - and is approaching his peak at 27. It would be a surprise if he doesn''t do well.
You say ''even at Celtic'' LDC but we know from past experience what the ''quality'' of the opposition would have been like. The fact is that few Clubs have been overkeen to retain him...but we shall see. His record appears to be start well then fades!
His record appears to be start well and fade - why have you brought Nelson Oliveira into the conversation Derby ?
 14.
Dean Coney''s boots wrote the following post at 01/07/2018 6:28 AM: Strengthened? when we have sold players worth millions and replaced with much cheaper unknown and unproven players. Strengthened? From Ruddy/Gunn to Remi From Murphy/Redmond to Buendia From Camjam to Srbeny From Olsen to Husband From madders to Leitner I could go on - but we have sold millions and millions of pounds worth of top champ/prem standard players and replaced with lower league and unknown cheapies. Ask any neutral if we are strengthening our side or decimating it. Cutting cloth perhaps. Necessary maybe- though other neutral mates have asked if we are asset stripping. But strengthening - not ever 100 % this
And there I was thinking we are yet to name our gk for next year, Jamal Lewis was our left back, our centre halves that conceded left right and centre halves have been upgraded with the likes of Hanley, we have just signed a Finnish centre forward and McClean is in exactly the same situation as Maddison ie Plenty raving about him. But let’s not distort the facts by making out last years players were the replacements. Promotion is won by a team that is balanced and prepared to fight for the cause as shown by Lambert. Looks like that is what we are building a team rather than a group of individuals.
 15.

I''m calm. It helps being realistic. We are slowly building a new squad and are 3/4 to 4/5s on the way to having a full unit and due to financial constraints we are being wiser and more careful in our purchases. Whether these click and whether Farke can progress, (now that he has a had a year of English experience you''d hope he can), we will have to wait to find out.
I hope that you are right Herman (ie that we are being wiser in our purchasers). The drain on our resources of late has come from longish contracts to the wrong people and Pukki has been far from a consistent performer even at a lower level then the Championship. The proof of the pudding etc................
Lol according to the bookies we are 7/1 to be promoted and you binners are 28/1.
 16.
It might be a rumour, it might just be paper talk, there might not be nothing in it, everybody hopes that it won''t happen but everybody knows that it would be foolish to rule it out. After all, it''s what we do, isn''t it?
No it’s what every club does until you finish at the final stop of Barca, Real or maybe PSG. It is a chain that goes from the top to the bottom ie Mahrez goes Man City 75m replaced by Maddison 24m who some on here will say is as good. There will be many left backs at top team academies who only sell for 1m but will be as good as Jamal but are never given the chance to play at their home club. You must appreciate young player brought through - young player is good - young player offered millions - young player is not going to say I am staying here. 10m is 5 years worth of academy cost so if our academy is now that good think how many Jamal Lewis’s we will develop over 5 years. When this was Southampton everyone was saying our academy is s*** and Southampton amazing - have those people changed their minds now ? Selling Jamal Lewis for £10m is surely success by the club and not failure as in investing in the Academy is proving to be a success not a failure.
 17. Yep we should follow the Villa model. That’s what happens when you splash the cash and it goes wrong.
 18. John Terry off to join his mate at Derby if reports are to be believed.
 19.

Not the best for Jarvis though is it Til? He is under no obligation to not recieve all the salary Norwich promised him when he signed.
So he, who is after all half of the contract, has no obligation towards the Club whatsoever then. While the Club are expected to honour their part of the contract right through to it''s due course, Jarvis can just carry on being injured while the money keeps on rolling into his bank account. His circumstances may be unfortunate but that is not the fault of the Club and if he had any respect for the Club then he should be willing to discuss a severance deal that would ultimately benefit both parties. In all honesty, even if he makes a full recovery, and that seems unlikely, he is never going to be the player (if he ever was) that we signed, he is never going to be worth the transfer fee we paid for him and he is never going to justify the money we pay him in wages every month.Surely things cannot be allowed to just drift along until his contract ends.
How do you know that ? Many players reinvent themselves. Surely if he plays again for the 1st team that is because he is the best option in that position ? Let’s just boo him should he play again.
 20.
I find these "filthy rich Chinese" comments frankly childish and a bit xenophobic, a bit like that Times article. It not about a filthy rich Chinese owner it''s about a decent competent owner of any nationality who is willing to try and take the club forward. I would harass a guess that Villa will pay any bills and will be more competitive than us next season(I hope they are not). Meanwhile, the best player we have had in a decade is been sold to a club/ clubs we use to to be on a level with at the very least (Leicester / Fulham)... Go Delia!
So Villa won’t be selling the likes of Jack Grealish to the likes of Leicester or Fulham?. Even if we had a rich owner we no longer get parachute payments so ffp would be hard to ignore.
 21. Op I garuntee you that Maddison himself would vote for the Maddison to go option whatever the options or choices to go with it. Get real even if the club wanted him to stay he would be insisting on a move. Or maybe you would like the job of telling him we are going to stop you playing in the premier and doubling trebling or whatever his salary would be.
 22.
Next season ? Selling our best players and replacing them with something cheaper, there''s only one way we will be going.
Maddison was a cheap player as was Hanley and Zimmerman.
 23. Strange really, Villa, Blackburn and Stoke supporters describe Lamberts style as boring, negative and side ways passing. They also describe him as one of their worst ever appointments as proved by results. Yet to see with Stoke but with Villa and Blackburn success coincided with his departure. At Norwich he was at the right place at the right time, but also had Culverhouse and Karsa who it now seems we’re the real driving force behind the success.
 24. He can’t live off Norwich forever on his CV. Fast becoming unemployable I would think.
